I would say Gondolin, too.
"evil lying still" - could refere to Maeglin "and you won´t know a thing till you get inside" - this one fits very good into the context of Gondolin [ March 12, 2003: Message edited by: Narya ]

Oh gosh, that means it's my turn again! Yeah, it's but still , if you know what I mean.
Yep, here we go: A land that once was but isn't any more and once it bore, alas the ones that live in lore and in legends as well for their fates changed and so these two could dwell this land 'til things arranged and they bid world farewell There, have fun! Edit: whoops, double negation...no-one noticed my flaw, right? [ March 16, 2003: Message edited by: Annunfuiniel ]

No, it's not Aman either, but no need to feel silly.
I altered one line slightly to make it more specific. Hope that helps!

You found it, Estanesse, well done! (Dor Firn-i-Guinar was the name of Tol Galen while Beren and Luthien dwelled there.) Your turn.

Cloudyhead? The name fits well, and harbors Khazad-dûm.
Maybe the High Pass above Rivendell - where the Dwarves and Bilbo got captured. It is "Misty" all around. [ March 16, 2003: Message edited by: Tar-Palantir ]

Mount Gundabad?
It's in the north, and therefore cold, part of the Misty Mountains, and chief stronghold of the hateful Orcs.

Are you talking about the Citadel, the Tower of Ecthelion above the Court of the Fountain in Gondor?....through the seventh gate of the seventh circle, carven kingly heads in the stone, seat of the stewards....it seems to fit but I'm probably way off!!

Is it the Shire? "Missing the head of Arnor", does that refer to that the hobbits still waited for the return of the king or just that they didn't resemble the men of Arnor? Anyway, they preferred living underground like dwarves and they dug the Great Smials. And Sam was chosen major of the Shire seven times for seven years at a time.
So, Shire is my guess.

No, think about the seven times seven.
And the first three lines make up a cryptic clue.

Michel Delving?
It fits otherwise but I'm not sure about the " head of Arnor"-thing...(unless it's el- as in Elendil?) Sorry, I'm not feeling so good at the moment (I ate something that my stomach didn't approve), can't think straight...

Michel Delving it is! Well done, Annunfuiniel.
By way of explanation: A man is called A man's name: Michael Missing the head of Arnor Take away the first letter of Arnor (A): Michel But with the skill of Dwarves The skill of Dwarves is Delving Seven times seven A seat for the faithful servant Who drew level with the Master The Mayor's seat was at Michel Delving. Sam was mayor seven times for seven years each time. Sam was Frodo's faithful servant, but when he became mayor he drew level in status with the Master of Buckland. Sort of works. So, the stage is yours, Annunfuiniel.

Yes, it truly works now that you explained it. Oh, I have created a strong love-hate-relationship to your little riddles, Saucepan; at the moment the one in the "Who am I?" -thread is making me crazy!!
Well, back to business: I range from evil to evil and host it as well but refugees of goodness and beauty on my both sides Through my veins I'm connected to great waters sources of life run from my shoulders but I'm dead and cold Some I let pass some I hide good or evil I don't mind.
