The Phial of Earendil's Star
What exactly is a phial? I can't quite get the mental image of it. I need the help.

Its just a glass bottle. I guess it could be any shape you choose. I always imagined it as a star shape.

The Phial of Galadriel looked somewhat like a crystal globe which contained within, a shimmering fragment of the light of the evening star.

The Phial of Galadriel was a glass bottle that contained the light of Earendil(from a Silmaril), the elves favourite star.

Yes, it is the elves' favorite star. Note my quote hehe.
Wouldn't you just love to have the light of a star in a phial of your own? I think that would just be downright amazing. And what better star to have then Earendil's!? Lucky Frodo, hehe.

Try a search yourself, Iargwath! The only decent thread I could find by searching for "phial" in this forum was... this one!!
I am continually baffled by my seemingly ridiculous, but entirely unshakeable image of the Phial of Galadriel. It's an hourglass (like the one at the start of Days of Our Lives), about 20 cm high and 10 cm round at the ends (if you're not using metric, you should be!). I have no idea why it should be that shape, or even what suggested that to me. But that shape it is, and I'm starting to get kind of attached to it. I think the movie version is great, though (but I was VERY disappointed not to see Sam's G Box).
