The favorite sig thread has gotten very big, so I am going to close it. If it is reopened, please follow these guidelines:
1) Explain why you like a sig. A simple "I like so-and-so's sig" isn't enough. Tell us why! 2) Stay on topic. Thanks!

I see it's open again
As I deal with the signature, I comply with the requirement B of the preceding post
Now let us try to meet the requirements formulated by clause A of the said. SO, I very much like Evisse the Blue's former signature: Quote:
cheers

Oh indeed, HerenIstarion, not only is Evisse the Blue's former sig topical and funny, but it is particularly clever to boot. And possibly crosses over into that nebulous realm of parody which Estelyn and others so well traverse.
It, I do believe, rings nicely off Lewis Carroll's wonderful nonsense verse, "The Walrus and the Carpenter." Here is the stanza: Quote:

Interestingly, that Lewis Carroll poem was my very first signature here on the Downs! Kuruharan suggested that I amend it to read "whether Balrogs have wings", which I did. To keep it from being forgotten completely when I changed it, I then started the In Memoriam Quote Graveyard thread. Then Evisse had her own very cool version - nice evolution, huh?!

Ours to reason why
Good heavens, HerenIstarion, you surely cannot expect me to have been suggesting that one reading was better than the other, can you? After all our words on canonicity? Really, I had just assumed you were experimenting with davem's idea that the reader must store all his 'baggage" away in some locker before reading.
If you really wish to sit in a corner or write fifty times, "I will prostrate myself before all of English literature and try to memorise it all", well, if that is "your heart's desire" out of this subcreation, so be it. It was not my intention. Some young men simply cannot resist this urge for a quest or some sort of ... thing. I never would have thought that a Harry Potter sig would merit being a "best sig" on this forum. Or is that too limiting a reason for this thread? Could we have a Harry Potter sig that meets our standards?

For unstated but obvious** reasons, I am suddenly VERY fond of Morsul the Dark's new sig. And if Tolkien lived in New England and grew up in my family-- why, he'd like it too. Bilbo would get a good laugh out of it.
I wonder if Sam Gamgee would use extra brown sugar when making a tollhouse cookie batch... **Oh, all right. Morsul's new Sig describes that which is categorically the opposite of what one would think of a "Morsul the Dark" within Tolkien's realm; especially the gooey part; unless it perhaps be the Mewlips, but they are not generally considered popular, and they do not, generally speaking, improve whatever they are mixed with.

HP sig re: I certainly had one at a time. It stated that 'I'm up to no good'. Indeed, what good may the young man with a quest (I'm sure I have a qeust, just need to find out what it consists of) be up to here, being poked in the ribs by well-educated ladies?
But, not to break BW's A clause imposed, or A imposition claused rule of not straying off topic, I'd like to second mark 12_30 in praise of Morsul's new signature. I believe we a talking about the following: Quote:

Bethberry's signature is simply marvellous, and so well-chosen. *laughs*
Btw, in reference to my previous signature Je est un autre, the validity of which was questioned above - I assure you, it is phrased absolutely deliberately, and I'll guide you to my namesake to find out why.

I really like Eomer of the rohirrim's signature. maybe because I like anything that is He-man related.

Yeah paavo, there's not enough love for He-man on this site! It's arguably more epic than The Lord of the Rings itself.
