Ring Military stratedgy

Anyone notice how things such as military stratedgies( evolution of weaponry ) employed by those in Ea are inline with real stratedgies throught history. Case in point you knoe those defensive circles Aragorn, Imrahil, Eomer, Gandalf, etc took were actually standard practice. For example the Scotts under the direction of William Wallace employed that same tactic when they went up againt Edward Longshanks after their victory at Sterling Bridge.
