in fotr when gandalf is facing the balrog what does he say? something like i wield the secret flame of arda, wasnt it? but arda is earth, how can earth have a secret flame? or is he simply saying that he is a maia? and does he say something about an ulundo, that is quenya for monster? plz tell me as i need to know. well, actually im just really intrested

The book quote is in my sig, its the same as the movie plus "you cannot pass". He saying (i think) that he it a maia, he weilds the power of the sun (possibly simply meaning hes a goodguy) and that the dark fire (just evil fire) will not help the barlog (or flame of Udun, the place the barlog is from). I think. Seeing as it is my name i should know, but am not sure.

You shall not pass!"For one, Gandalf wears Narya, the great red ring given to him by Cirdan. That may be what he means by the "Flame of Anor" and less likely the secret fire. Its probably not related to Nayna. First, why would Gandalf reveal this to his enemy?(EDIT oops read the previous wrong, ill leave this hear anyway) Second, "The secret fire" is spoken of as the flame of the world, or the earth. Gandalf is saying with that part that he is a servent of the world or Lluvier (spelling?)[ January 30, 2003: Message edited by: The Flame Of Anor ]
