You just made my day, Lommy, thanks! The avvie is my personal rendition of a picture of Thorin, drawn by Mr. Howe. I think that it is a near perfect forgery!

Wow, what, really? That's pretty good. I had no idea you have such talents. Well, what can one know from just generally reading about people on a forum, right...

However, seeing as I am living in a land of far more snow and cold temperatures than is usual (although I've lived in colder places) I decided to keep it 'round for awhile as my winter avvie also. There are icicles hanging from the evestrough along the front porch that are four to five feet long and at least four inches wide; the entire front of the porch is lined with these sparkling evidences of the frigid domain . After all, the North Pole is part of my country.

Hey Groin you could just take a photo of the picture instead of scanning it. Some people always do it.
Anyway when I first saw your avvie I thought it was nice, but knowing you've drawn it yourself makes it rather fantastic. Any chance we could see a bigger picture of it?

Atlanteans are thought to be very mysterious and so intelligent as to be cryptic to us trogs, and so I figured that you might be one of them. How you have internet under the ocean ice...well, that's just more of that advanced technology. And that globe in the background of your avatar obviously is a spaceship.

Now, doesn't that resemble a certain wizard of Middle-earth? I wonder, could Santa really be Gandalf in the seventh age? What a come down! Thoroughly in keeping with the long defeat, though. I may have found my Christmas avatar for this coming December.

I'm more inclined to think Santa is Tom Bombadil in the seventh age. Not too far from "hey dol merry dol" to "ho ho ho, Merry Christmas."

Radagast surely had the ability to speak 'reindeer.' "On Donner, on Blitzen, on Turin and Hurin, on Bombur, on Fili..."
And Bb, 508 miles south of the North Pole is not just a hop-skip-and jump away, regardless of the color of your boots.

Of course, we would then have to determine just who/what is Tom Bombadil, in order to consider whether this would be evidence of the long defeat. Quote:
At this rate, I shall have to look for an avatar of Fëanor or some other illustrious elf decked out in North Pole workshop fare.

Yes I have to admit that I was a little disappointed since while e(a)ves trough is a prettier name than guttering , I was thinking on the lines of Eve's pudding and imagining that it were some kind of superior window box/hanging basket/garden trough...

So, I finally looked at Sally's avatar long enough to figure out what it is and says, and it's pretty darned amazing.

What exactly is Nogrod's avatar?
Dury, I went to find Sally so that I could see the amazing avatar, but he/she/it was not in the member's list.

Nogrod's avatar is a South Park style version of himself.
Sally is the not-immediately-self-evident-but-a-great-deal-snappier nickname of Satansaloser. It is the one with the Lion King poster modifies to say "Hamlet with a happy ending"

Since there are not Satansalosers1 to 2004 and 2006 upwards I think it is perfectly clear who I mean without such pedantry. I didn't have time to check the numeral but though I was being clear enough. So much for trying to be helpful

Aha! Thank you, Mith, for answering my questions. I THOUGHT Nogrod's avatar was something akin to Southpark, but I've never watched it, so I could not be sure.
And now that I know who Sally is, I know what to look for. -- Folwren

Nor really my preferred viewing but Brinniel did a load of South Park downers on Facebook where I do use mine as an avatar and I think Nogrod's is another of her crafting.
Though I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong...

Belated thanks for the appreciation, Kitanna! It's a photo of my dog Seamus who died last year, the poor darling. He was even cuter in real life.
As for me, I find Formendacil's Julius Caesar very fitting - meaning it nicely fits both his screen-name and the Dead Seriousness. Also I'm a long-time Asterix fan.
