Interesting idea with the eyes
I personally was thinking it's more LotR-related...maybe Tolkien's eyes would be good though too

Can't see this fella of yours properly to assess delectability. Who is he? That's the problem with avatars...I can't get Miss Bianca small enough.

Love that Rescuers theme, Lalaith.

Oh, seems a great avatar-changing era has come upon us. Well Lalaith, I can only express my pleasure on that you eventually chose to pick an avatar, and a good looking one, too. Someone could pick Bernard as well (perhaps Mith? ), though... Bernard's not as much "photogenic", I think.
As with the Saucepan Wolf - that's really a beautiful one! I want such a "dog" at home! (A great advantage is, when he caps, you may cook.)

I had almost forgotten about Bianca, Bernard and those crazy adventures...didn't they also have a bird that carried them around? I'm not sure though, haven't seen anything Disney-related in a loooong time

But, if the truth be told, he is unfortunately no Wolf. He (or she - I'm not sure) is a Huskey, captured on film by my own fair hand on a recent skiing holiday. I was rather proud of being able to capture the magnificent pooch in mid howl. So you see, he (or she) literally was cool. Needless to say, s/he was not wearing the saucepan at the time. So Legate, you were right after all. Quote:

A little husky from the cold
I ought to look at pictures more carefully, Sauce; I should have realised. Now, thanks to you, I have North to Alaska mushing through my mind. Now where did I put my banjo?
I like Rumil's picture of the Eagle and Child. It makes me thirsty just looking at it.

I like Lalaith's new avatar. Childhood cartoons are invariably incredible... The Rescuers were quite cool, though perhaps not so good as some more recent cartoons with the aim of making us laugh rather than cry.

The Might's new avatar is very Serious
Though, it should be Hookbill to first write this here

Just an homage to Serious...
Hmm...I just had a thought about Serious being worshipped by Ancient Egyptians and having them build a pyramid for him

Don't know about pyramids, but certainly among the ancient Egyptians Serious was of great significance. A very bright star, named by the ancient Greeks as "Seirios" (later latinized as Sirius), was worshipped in Egypt and the Egyptians based their calendar on the heliacal rising (from when it was visible above the horizon at day) of Sirius, which occurred just before the flooding of the Nile every year.
We can only speculate on what happened back then, but the evidence implies that something terrible must have happened following the decay of Egypt. Because today, Sirius is called the Dog star...

On a different note, I don't know what's happening here last time, but Mithalwen has an avatar, again, and this time it is really beautiful. I suggest you keep it, Mith.

Why thank you all ..I do intend keeping it ... it is the avatar I have always wanted but only now have contrived to get (apart from the longstanding failure in getting the avatar facility to work - I also had to learn to crop and resize..)....
When I was a small child, a great uncle, the family's token intellectual, declared that I had the face of a pre-raphaelite. Later my father asked "What was it that Uncle Ted said "Mith" looked like? A troglodyte wasn't it?" This is not a million miles away from how I looked - maybe a decade ago.... much closer than the lean and dark pre-raphs ... though rather kindly several people imagined me that way

That new avatar of Bêthberry's makes me wonder what someone has just done to Serious Cat. He looks as though someone's been putting mustard powder in his milk.

Allons y enfants de la patrie la grenouille est arrivee!
Sorry to double post... but I have just seen Celuien,s wonderful new gallic froggy - in a beret with the tricoleur as a background ..fantastic.... when I lived in Paris I used to go to a bar called "The Frog and Rosbif" - the French call the English "Les rosbif" for the same reason we call them Frogs..which was pointedout to the native French members who objected to the French Society at University being called Frogsoc...
