Smoking ban....
We had a similar story a while back about Liverpool Council, but now Plymouth is in on the plans Films featuring smoking could be given 18 certificate in bid to stop children taking up habit http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/ar...ing-habit.html

Looks like TH, if it gets made, will either not show smoking, or get an 18 certificate. Mind you, if it can happen to Churchill http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...der-cigar.html what chance has Bilbo got? Just waiting for the censors to get going on all those pics of Tollers with his pipe .... |

It's funny how governments want to demonise tobacco, but alcohol is much more of a danger to society as a whole than cigarettes. When was the last time someone smashed up a car because they were under the influence of a cigarette? Are they going to remove the references in The Hobbit to the Dwarves drinking beer at Bag End?

Oh, that's right. Adolescents don't become over-aggressive by being exposed to violent imagery, but they immediately start smoking as soon as a cig is lit. Priorities.

Yes people are very compliant. Thing is, no one in their right mind would think that teenagers will pick up smoking because they see Bilbo with a pipe in The Hobbit. Still, "rules are rules" and if one film featuring smoking is affected by regulations all others must be too...

Personally, I feel its about time everything was banned, just in case - won't somebody please think of the children? As far as The Hobbit movie is concerned, if my little boy sees that, & runs off with a Wizard & thirteen Dwarves in order to steal back treasure from a dragon I WILL SUE SOMEBODY. Fair warning, |

The last Die Hard film was bumped down to a 15, or whatever, because they cut out the swearing. So, while all the impressionable youngsters were seeing scene after scene of violence and death, they at least didn't have to put up with some rough words.

Hi,
Banning the smoking cannot much affect the movie audience as well as other people, Smoking scenes in the movie gives a good look but it doesn't effects much if that scene is deducted from it. As I think the banned should be done in there area where there are little children's or the people who can't bear the smoke of cigarette, etc. |

When the smoking ban came into force in England on 1 July 2007, throughout the United Kingdom became a smoking area. During the first year, the Ministry of Health said 400,000 people quit smoking. But what are the rules and where you go, that crafty ?
