Sting themes of LOTR

one thing i thought was very interesting were the many themes of LOTR. I had to do a really big paper on the books once, and it was fasinating all the points Tolkien was trying to get across in his work. Would you all like to tell some themes that you noticed?
One that was not so apparent was the theme of man to nature, and the realationships therein. You see how Tom Bombadil is so close to nature, he has power to affect it.

I wouldn't say 'Dont kill people' is a theme of LOTR. Killing was very necessary sometimes.

What about more broad themes? Freindship, Perseverence, Love? I guess these are in many books, but they were key to LOTR as well.

Deserves it! I daresay he does. Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement.
Don't kill people.

as burra said, Mercy is important. And at the Scouring of the Shire, Frodo does not kill any of the ruffians. And he wishes to spare as many as possible.
Also when Sam thinks Frodo is dead, he takes the Ring to continue himself, although he does not wish to leave Frodo. He makes the conclusion that the mission is more important than his personal feelings, which I think is most courageous.

Themes-

Little people with hairy feet can be as useful as big people with bald feet.

Friendship prevails.

Good prevails.

The progression of technology can be harmful to the enviroment.

Dwarves are cool.

Well, thats about all for now.

You are not alone in the universe. Sometimes self-sacrifice is the only way to get done what has to be done.
