thank you :)
The preferred version had 4 firework bursts between portrait appearances, but it made it to big - some 50kb against 19.5 allowed. Pity
I would have to give the new avvie trial watch for some time, though - it seems a bit too dynamic

It must read Nirvana II, or so I presume It is hard to read, grey on black, but idea is quite original, kudos.

I think it only says Nirvana. Is it after the band?

I find myself drawn to the posts by people without avatars... the utter lack of image allows my imagination to run free. However... I really like Lush's flower (I actuall tried for a couple red roses that I've got elsewhere, but I couldn't figure out how to scale them down, and then gave up...) and I BW's random green tinged assortment. Mark's Stitch avvies always make me smile, and The Barrowdowns without Princess Fiona would ruin my day.
However... I am fully obligated (by nickname and personal preference) to say that Fordim Hedgethistle's Indiana Jones avatar is the best. Fea

Fea, your avatar is slightly worrying. What's that on the girl's face?

I like the way HerenIstarion combined the fireworks with the picture. He can't give up the fireworks, its his trademark!!
I also kind of like Son of Númenor's Hobbes.

A lock of hair indeed. The girl's got battle scars... battle with a bike, battle with a rock, battle with... another rock [wall that is], battle with chicken pox, you get the idea. But the only battle scar that comes close to that size is the bike one, and that's on her leg. Actually... the rock wall one... Wait... back to my point: the only scars she's got on her face are a small white chickenpox scar in the corner of her forehead (can't see it in the pic) and a small white mark, just below her nose, from a rock that her brother kicked in her general direction some 8 years ago (also unseeable). Worry not, unless you prefer the idea of a battle scar. Her hair was simply escaping from its ties that day... *mumbles about breezes out in the middle of lakes*

Fea, I like your new avatar... that's you? Cool.. seems to be the new thingg to use pics of yourself then.
Hmmm... now that I look at it, the B-W's avatar DOES look like Elton John... not that I haven't edited a lot of pics of famous people myself... I'm on a sig making spree for my site, since we can't use them here... oh well... I'll stick to avatars here. I had actually animated my lightsaber in my sig, but with the animation of the moving saber it was too large. *cries* And it looked so cool moving!!! H-I: You can't leave out the fireworks ever again! That's your trademark! Jus tlike I must have a lightsaber, you must have fireworks... the blend is really cool. What animation program do you use? -Eowyn Skywalker |

tool to make gifs
Adobe ImageReady 3.0 (with additional help of Adobe Photoshop 7.0 now and again) + Mustek 12000S scanner (quite an old one, that, but doughty )

Yep, that's me. Out on the boat fishin' with Dad and the boys. Didn't catch a blasted thing. Remembered another face-battle-scar: small Harry Potteresque scar in the center of my forehead from a metal bar when I was a wee lass... thrice bedamned brother didn't know I was behind him.
It's a decent idea to use cool pics of yourself as an avvie... I just like changing people's perceptions of me, and since a few people, I believe, had me pegged as looking quite different, well, pictures are worth a thousand words. And I still hold to Fordim as having the best avatar: "Look's like Germany has declared war on the Jones boys." Fea

Convenience...
...and right on cue, Imladris posts to show us all what the avatar looks like!
(edited to add) I've just noticed Estel's new avatar. What can I say? It's Wario! Awesome. Just as long as no-one ever gets one of Mario because then I will go on the rampage.

Very nice Wario, by the way, I've always been fond of his cackle. Fea

Sometimes I have the memory of a goldfish (well, in my case, maybe the better allusion is to one of those dinosaurs with limited cranial capacity ), but I don't think anyone has asked Aman about her new avatar, which I find fascinating. Aman, my dear, if you have not already here, please do tell us all about it.

Lol, you know those old films when a young lady will be introduced by her more experienced counterpart to come forward in society? Odd, I'm having a strange sort of allusion to that feeling...
Eowyn, you said that it seemed to be the 'new thing' to use pictures of yourself in your avatar (Bekah, HerenIstarion...Fordim?! =P ) The definition of avatar, coutesy of dictionary.com: Quote:
My avatar...has a very dull story behind it, quite frankly *amused*. I simply did a web search for Aman - my last avatar died and refused to translate well across to V Bulletin without becoming rather squashed and basically not looking as pretty or pointful as before. With my odd little goblin, Onita, you can see what he is - well, maybe not He is a character from Japanese childrens fantasy literature, illustrated by Kimiko Aman - and his name comes from Oni - the idea of otherness and basically evil! So yes, some of you represent yourselves with images of LotR characters, or actors, some with enigmatic or beautiful patterns, others with mystical characters... ...me? Well, I simply choose to represent myself as the Japanese fairytale idea of evil. (Thanks Beth )

p.s. perhaps I'll do that now.
