What's your fav. line in the movies or the books?
Hey everyone! The books and movies have had so many great lines. What's everyone's fav? From the book mine is "Many who die deserve life and many who live deserve death. Can you give it to them? Don't be too eager to deal out death in judgment for even the very wise cannot see all ends" and from the movie, I like my sig.

I love at the end of the council of Elrond when Pippen asks "where are we goin'?".

The one that you posted, olorin, is one of the best quotes of LotR, in my opinion.
I also like "Thag you very buch" (Hobbit), "Fool of a took!" and "You have to throw me" (Movie)

Can it be a whole part of the books, or movie, also? Because I like the entire part of the scene with Aragorn and Gimli "You have to throw me"..."Don't tell the elf".
In the books, my favorite part ever is when Gimli and Legolas compete to see who kills the most...that made me laugh the first time I read it.

From the books, too many to mention.
But from the films: "They have a cave troll!" - - it's just the way he says it. [ January 13, 2003: Message edited by: The Saucepan Man ]

A favorite quote from TTT the movie is Gollum saying "What's taters, precious?" The exchanges between he and Sam are also rather humorous in the book.

I also like the part where Gimli and Aragorn are getting ready to jump over and fit the Uruk-Hai, and Gimli, take a quick look says,
"Toss me." And Aragorn looks surprised, "I cannot make the jump, you'll have to toss me." He gets ready to go, and then thinks twice and says, "And don't tell the elf." It harkens back to the first movie where he says "Nobody tosses a dwarf!" I also love many of Gollum's lines. The one where he ducks down as Sam walks close and says "Nice hobbit." And then where he says to Sam, (after the great, "What are taters, precious? What are taters, eh?") Give us fish, raw and wwwwwwringgling. You keep nasty chips." In the FotR I like the line where Legolas says that he can't tell them what the words are to the lement for Gandalf, "For me, the grief is still to near."

Eomer:
"I would cut off your head, dwarf, if it stood but a little higher from the ground." Legolas: "You would die before your sword fell." It's funny and shows how Legolas and Gimli have progressed. Also the "fetch you a box" comment. Oh, and Gimli talking to Eowyn, something like: "this had lead to the belief that there are no dwarf women..." Aragorn whispers: "It's the beards" The happiest bit was Sam's speech about stories and songs. The saddest bit was "Don't you know your Sam?" Sorry, there are too many, I'll just stop there before I end up typing out the whole script. |

My favorite part of the book is this:
All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not whither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall springl Renewed shall be the blade that was broken: The crownless again shall be king. And then after that when Aragorn says just who he is and what he does.

That bit when Frodo says he can't carry water in his pockets. I quite like most of Treebeard's speech and when they find out how lond it takes to say everything in entish at the Ent moot.

I have one ultimate favorite from the book... which I hope will be in the movie so badly, which is, "But no living man am I! You look upon a woman! Eowyn I am, Eomund's daughter. You stand between me and my lord anf kin. Begone, if you be not deathless! For living or dark undead, I will smite you, if you touch him."
Others I must emphasis from the movie are Faramir: "Who are you? His body guard?" Sam: "His gardener." and (When Aragorn has taken Frodo upstairs at the Prancing Pony and the other three hobbits run in) Sam: "Let him go! Or I'll have you, longshanks!" Also The way Frodo says, "Sam, we're still in the shire. What could possibly happen!?" Its great! I'll shut up now. |

My favorite line from the books is in Helm's Deep and Legolas says "Would that this night would end, and I could have better light for shooting."
And in the extended edition : "Why doesn't that surprise me". TTT: "Should I describe it for you or would you like me to go find you a box?" Why are they all Legolas? oh, and when Frodo is going to look into Galadriel's mirror: "What will I see?" ____________________________________________ wherever you go, there you are [ January 18, 2003: Message edited by: Duncariel ]

My signature, because it shows so much wisdom, power and emotion in Gandalf. I love a lot of things that Gandalf says to Denethor, and in the Council of Elrond. He's probably just about my favorite character.

Before this quote as sam starts to cook the rabbit smeagol turns and in an anguished voice says "you ruins it you ruins it stupid fat hobbit".
[And then where he says to Sam, (after the great, "What are taters, precious? What are taters, eh?") Give us fish, raw and wwwwwwringgling. You keep nasty chips."] After that sam says "now you cant say theres many that would turn that down not even you" Smeagol looks at the ground then like a child says "we could" to which sam gives up. In Fellowship: "NO one tosses a dwarf! (he jumps) Gaaahhhh! Not the beard!" In Two Towers: "Toss me." "What?" "Toss me. I can't jump that far. Just don't tell the elf." In Return of the King: yet to be determined.

Book:
"I cannot read the fiery letters," said Frodo in a quavering voice. New from Movies (FOTR extended): "Bilbo, have you been at the Gaffer's homebrew?" "No... well, yes, but that isn't the point!" Ian Holm is the greatest.
