Faramir is one of my favourite characters. I love him in the books, but I didn't like what they did with him in the movie. Anyway . . . you know, in TTT, I think it's right when they get to Henneth Annun, when Faramir takes out the map and says something like, "Sauron attacks from Mordor; Saruman from Isengard," or something like that. And as he says each one, he points to Mordor and Isengard. For some reason, I love how he taps on the map!!!! and from then on, I actually liked him in the movie despite his mediocre acting job and the way they changed him into this evil character! lol. . . i know i'm strange haha

I laughed so hard. "Yes, my precious, that tickles us." I can't remember Gollum ever laughing, though, books or film. Has Gollum ever laughed?
I like him a lot because he is so psychologically tragic. That sort of thing just fascinates me. I like Billy Boyd as Pippin because he just has such a can't-do-no-wrong expression! It's really sweet. [ March 27, 2003: Message edited by: Quirkette ]

Hmm... strange reason to like a character? Aside from Faramir and his tapping (*brushes aside images of Faramir tapdancing*), I also like Celeborn for the way he says "Gandalf". It's highly amusing and I have to grin every time I see him say it.

Hee hee! Gollum...Elmo Ha, thats funny...or maybe I'm just easily amused...
anyway, in the film, I like Eowyn coz (in the Two Towers) she doesn't just sit around looking soulful and weepy unlike certain elvish ladies I could name, I also share her taste in men ... I also like Merry coz he's just so cool (in the book mainly)

These are funny.
I like Christerpher Lee because of his creepy voice, Orlando because of that cool look he gets in his eye right before he's about to do something cool,Gollum because of his voice(I love you Andy Serkis) Sean Austin because he actually went to the oscars, and Elijah cause I love him(It's not really a strang reason)

Hobbits are good because they look like "Wah, we can't do anything! We're stupid hobbits that are defenseless and need big people to take care of us!" but they're really like "Grr! Bring it on, *****! Get ready to bite the dust! Nobody hurts OUR friends and gets away with it!"
Also they're a helluva lot cute. Then I like Legolas because of that triple-flipple-somersault thing he does onto the horse in TT. Yay! EVERYONE thinks Gollum is cute! And I also like the wargs because they're very cute. Aw! Just look at my avatar!

Okay, when the Fellowship comes to see Galadriel and Celeborn, it reminds me of a couple of hippies. Maybe they just got married. Hippie wedding. But the thing is....
Celeborn talks like he's high. "Where is Gandaaalf? For I much... desired... to SPEAK! with... him...." I like that. I laughed. I like it when characters say things that would look fine on paper but just sound absolutely stupid the way they say it.

Denethor.
One word...Pyro... Also Hirgon, after all he does carry the black arrow around...and gets killed! Gil-Galad (book) cause he just does some major butt-kicking before he bites the dust. And...ummm...*grins sheepishly* Manwe cause hes like the king of Eagles and I love Eagles...

I know this seems EVER so typical, but Legolas is my favorite, because he doesn't talk much but focuses on his movement and battle plans and acute senses. Weird, but that's why I like him! Samwise comes next.

At least you didn't say "I like Lgolas because he's soooo hot." If you did I would have had to kill you.
I also like Faramir because of his hair. It looks so soft in some parts! I like Sam as well, because he's a good cook, he'll do anything for his friends, he is extremely loyal...and everything else that is good about him! Happy 700th post to me!

Hehe- Elmo/Gollum! That's perfect! I've got wierd reasons for almost all of the characters that I like. Almost all, mind you. Some I like for obvious reasons (I just won't even bother listing them!)
Arwen: I love the description of her at the feast when Frodo first sees her. Boromir: The depiction of him in LOTR (the cartoon movie). Boromir the Viking! Butterbur: "He's one of those Rangers..." Says it like it's a bad thing! Dernhelm: It's such a goofy name! Eomer: That look on his face when he noticed Wormtongue's sidelong glances at Eowyn. Badly timed, those glances were. Faramir: In both the book and movie, he perfected the good-cop/bad-cop thing. I don't think he was "wonderful" in either, he was a jerk, but he's still my favorite character. Or at least tied with Eomer. Gimli: I had a wierd dream where he was actually female. "so alike in form and appearance". Very wierd dream. Glorfindel: He's always left out. This guy rocks, and he's still brushed aside. Gollum: in the movie, he looks like a mix between a puppy and a little old guy. I cracked up during that schizo episode of his. "We told him to go away.. and away he went!" Mouth of Sauron: proved Aragorn wrong in one sentence, strongly reminds me of The Metatron from Dogma. I would die if Alan Rickman was cast as him. "Behold, the Mouth of Sauron. Herald of the All-Mighty, and Voice of the One True Demigod." Saruman: just imagine him in many colors.

Halbarad was a Ranger that died in the Battle of Pelennor, wasn't he? Or am I confusing him with someone else?

No! You are not! Thank you! *hugs for remembering who my favorite character is* and he also was the one who brought Arwen's banner to Aragorn.

Wormtongue: those crazy side-long glances.
Ghan-buri-Ghan: the description reminds me of a little Buddha statue I have. Eowyn: she puts up with all of those crazy side-long glances! What is it with me and those glances? They amuse me.

I like Farmer Maggot because he wasn't afraid of the Black Rider & told him to get off his land, and he was willing to help Frodo and his friends.
I also like Elijah Wood & Orlando Bloom's hands. I'm not sure why, but I'm fascinated by the way their fingers/hands look. (Yes, I know...weird) And I just like EVERYTHING about Sam (both book Sam & movie Sam).

heh heh! yeah, me with that aragorn and manly stubble thing as well, also though, i LOVE that thing that he does with the uruk's before going into battle when he kind of does that sword thing, i can't explain it, but it's like if he did that, then everything would be okaaay!
i'm not a legolas fan, like stalker or anything, but i do like that elf. i'm not sure why, i just like his attitude towards everything, and that he loves nature, but that's pretty much a given when it comes to elves! and of course, denethor, because, as my math/gym teacher would say *while rubbing hands madly together*, "I like fire!" (really, she DID do that!)
