I also find wilwa's very... erm... *searches for adjective* good. I'm not sure why. It's worthy of Captain Obvious, but it's so original and for some reason very attractive to me too.

*Giggles* I like yours Elennar, but am rather unqualified to point out mistakes. You may be wondering about the giggling. I didn't know the verb fendre, so I read that your heart was fondu.

Glirdan... your most recent 500 posts have all been since the 12th of September, which is right about a month.

Oh I remember Firefoot. I realise that quite a few of my posts are really stupid until to late. And then if I remember to or if I have time, I'll go back and delete it . But not all of them have been, have they?
Getting back on topic. And speaking of Firefoot: Quote:

Back in the day, when I was knee-high to Tom and went lily-pad surfing with Goldberry, and had just joined the forum, the thing to do was not to accumulate posts. People were snobbishly proud of having fewer than 500 posts and I seem to recall that Mister Underhill and burrahobbit and possibly Sharkû had a standing competition to see who could maintain forum flow with the fewest number of posts.
Like all stories of the past, however, that one tends to become somewhat idealised. Yet I do recall burra gleefully observing that poor Mister Underhill amassed a huge number of posts simply because he 'brought over' so many threads on the change of forum from UBB to vBulletin. I can't recall if anyone ever had a signature about post count, though.

I refuse to go over 1000. Certainly not with pointless posts, eh? Eh? Oh.
To justify the post, I'll retire the Heine: I do not know what haunts me, What saddened my mind all day; An age-old tale confounds me, A spell I cannot allay.

Yet for those who have not lived in cities with two thousand years of history, and who live in cities which simply raze their historical evidences to make way for wider freeways and larger skyscrapers, who have no lived experience of walled cities or narrow winding streets or stone buildings or a culture with centuries of aristocractic dominance, what right does another have to say that the desire to see those things is mere banality or consumption or commodification? It's what you make of what you take that counts. And I'll come backwith an edit about signatures so this won't be off topic.

There are thousands of tourists who go to Rome every year, and see all the same sights. This year, I was one of them... While in general I do not care for the "banality of tourists", I went to pretty much all the normal sights that one sees in Rome: St. Peters, the Vatican Museum, Trevi Fountain, the Forum, the Coloseum, etc... It was still a marvelous experience for me, spoiled as it was with crowds and vendors and fame. And not just the religious stops, which were as much pilgrimage as vacation, but also the places like the Coloseum, the Forum, or the Trevi Fountain, none of which have religious significance. So while I agree with Rimbaud's signature's sentiment, I don't necessarily agree with the exact words. There are, after all, reasons that the tourist stops started attracting people in the first place. And, on topic with signatures, I have to say that I've kind of become tired of the ++ Whatever the Poster Dislikes. It's still a good, short way of expressing irritation with something, but for the most part it has lost originality...

And as far as tourists go, I have to say the best place to go tourist-watching is Banff National Park, a mere two hours from home. I don't mean to insult the Japanese by any means, but the place is overrun with tourists from that nation, and you can't see the forest for all the people. And the cameras!! The poor tourbus drivers have to stop for every gopher so that half the bus can empty and try and get a picture of the same animal that any prairie farmboy would swerve to turn into roadkill. Yes, there is no accounting for tourists. Especially the kind like me who was one in Europe while decrying the ones who come to North America. I would like to plead the "Davem's Signature Plea" as my defence. And, while still talking about favourite sigs, that has to be one of my favourites. It's certainly a great thing to have handy when one contradicts oneself.

I'm very frustrated. I don't want to give too much away, but I think it may make a difference on which side of the Atlantic one is on, because there's just one vital bit of it that doesn't make any sense to me...
