Who's it?

I should think it was said by the Nazgul that Legolas shot down over the Anduin.

Re: The Quote of - (whoops not supposed to say that)

The dreaded Lord of the Nazgul likely said such a thing. Twice even. At the Ford of Bruinen and on the Pelennor Fields. Perhaps it was even he that had his steed shot out from under him by Legolas along the Anduin.

I gotta run right now, too. So you should go. You were first. But maybe we should wait until Boromir tells us if we gave the answer(s) he was looking for.

The incidant were Legolas shot the Nazgul's mount was the one I was thinking of, but he could a have also said it the Pelannor fields. Thought it was landed when it was killed.

Another possible quote

Who might have said ...

... and what were the circumstances?

It was Sauron trying to explain to his wife why there were Nine Ring Wraiths at the door right before the stinging sensation from his freshly cut finger told him Isldur had just taken his ring. Quickly tell me I'm right so I can put a quote out there.

Re: Another possible quote

Was it Bilbo? Even if so, I still ponder over the circumstances... maybe in the prison of Thranduil - he knew how to get out, with his ring of invisibility (silly hobbit, had he only known - or the goblins who pursued him, they would have gave their wargs the spurs real hard...). But how to rescue the dwarves (especially Bombur)?

Ah yes, it could have been the captain of the prison guards excusing himself - the prisoners escaped, but Bilbo put the keyring back into his hand when he lay drunk.

Is is Treebeard talking to Gimili when he and Legolas go back to explore Fangoran after the war? Treebeard at first was suspicious of the &quot;axe-bearing dwarf&quot;.

No, not really. Actually, you“re quite far from it. The quote should probably not be taken too litarally, but with a meaning behind the words.

Re: Another possible quote

What comes to my mind is that this is what the Valar, Manwe in particular, might have said as Galadriel at last set foot in the Undying Lands again after her long ban. Because of her great and wise deeds in the Third Age, she was considered redeemed and the ban was lifted. Then she could at last return to her father who dwelt yet in Tiron.

But perhaps I am far off...for 'halls that await you' seems so much to mean the Halls of Mandos.

Re: Another possible quote

Sound explanation, but not what I“m looking for.
As for the halls, well, I neither wanted to write Halls of Mandos, nor something like &quot;lands&quot; which would not be enough of a hint.
The Halls of Mandos are close, very close, but they do not totally fit in this case. You“ll know what I mean if you find out spaeker and adressed person.
As for the ban - close, close... yet still far all in all...

This sounds a good deal like Aragorn's speech to the dead, but of course we have that speech related to us by (Gimli? Legolas?, I forget) so it couldn't be that.

Yes to both points. You“re assumption is right, and maybe I should have written &quot;Who could as well have said&quot;. But maybe Gimli“s memory was rusty and so his quotation isn“t exact either...
Anyway, you still guessed it right, so, it“s your turn!

My first thought was Tar-Aldarion, this quote being his command as king to help his friend Gil-Galad with a Nśmenorean fleet against Sauron.

Now you have me in the pinch of not remembering any such name. Would I translate it ship-master? If so, I don't understand it as a variant of the name I intended. Please identify Ciryatur for your humble correspondent.

Re: Another possible quote

I remember Ciryatur. He (maybe she, I don't remember) was one of the Good ones I think. I don't have my books so I can't look it up. He was one of the &quot;ship kings&quot; as I think the phrase is, but you already figured that out.

What's a burrahobbit got to do with my pocket, anyways?</p>

Anyway, I think what you want to hear is Tar-Minastir, because although there were other kings, too, who aided the elves, he sent a whole army for Gil-Galad.

Folca was an obsessive hunter. He killed the great boar of Everholt, but died from the tusk wounds the beast inflicted on him.
