What was his birthname?
I didn't find it in the appendices,but it has been a
while since I read the silmarillion,so it might be found there.The only Numenoreans on Numenor that changed names where Tar-minyatur and Tar-palantir(I think)

The Red Book of Westmarch (actually, Thain's Book was the first copy of the original Red Book) and it was also called The Red Book of Periannath, in Gondor.

Gwaihir... the issue of HoME and UT has already been addressed. That's why Saulotus graciously ended these questions (though I sure wish he would have moved them to the thread I made for them instead <img src=ohwell.gif ALT=":/"> ...
