Sauron poured much of his malice, hate, and will into the ring. The ring was made to have a will of its own. Could the ring have decided to do its own thing and break away from its master? If it decided to rebel, could it have corrupted a new master, and then helped them usurp the real Sauron's throne?

The ring was apart from Sauron, but also a part of Sauron. The parts were separated, and only one survived physically. Could the one part be greater then the other? Could the master have poured more than too much into his creation? Will I ever stop talking in QUESTIONS?

I think that its possible that the ring, with its own will, could have decided it wanted more power than Sauron, and could tried to use itself against him.

I doubt it, because the ring was made by Sauron.He only had a will of its own to return to its rightful owner(Sauron), I also doubt it was a real sentient being like Sauron was.

It could not be a sentient being, because only Eru Illuvatar had the power to create 'life'. Sauron could only put some of himself into the ring, he could not create life to go into the ring.

The Ring was merely an extension of Sauron's will, power, and malice. Even though it was sentient, it had no free will of its own. At the most, it could want to come back to Sauron, but I definitely don't think it could turn against him.
