A Middle-Earth Hymnal

There have been several threads around with spoofs of Christmas carols for Middle-Earth, but I have been reading some of the poetry in ROTK, especially the Eagle's Song in "The Steward and the King", and realised how similar it was to a psalm.

I have set two well-known hymns to LOTR lyrics and started a third - please feel free to extend the list.

(Tune: "Thine be the Glory" , Judas Maccabaeus - Handel)

Praise be to Frodo ! Bearer of the Ring;
Wondrous is the vict’ry, he o’er Sauron bring;
Faithful Master Samwise helped him on his way,
Shielding him from evil, on that dreadful day.

Praise be to Frodo ! Bearer of the Ring;
Wondrous is the vict’ry, he o’er Sauron bring;

Long live the Captains ! Guardians of the West;
Rohirrim and Gondor, valiant in the Quest !
Let Free Folk with gladness, hymns of triumph sing;
As the Realm of Mordor perished with the Ring.

Long live the Captains ! Guardians of the West;
Rohirrim and Gondor, valiant in the Quest !

No more we doubt thee, glorious Elessar;
King of Kings of Gondor, spouse of Evenstar;
May the White Tree prosper, through thy healing hands:
Bring us through the Havens, to th’Undying Lands.

No more we doubt thee, glorious Elessar;
King of Kings of Gondor, spouse of Evenstar.

(Tune : "All People that on Earth do Dwell" - Old Hundredth)

All who on Middle-Earth do dwell,
sing out aloud with cheerful voice:
For, as the mighty Eagles tell,
this is the time to all rejoice.

Sing now, O Children of the West;
as now your King shall come again,
With all Free Folk, may they be blest,
For evil Sauron has been slain.

He shall pass Gondor’s gates with praise,
greeted with joy his courts unto;
praised, lauded, and blessèd always,
for it is seemly so to do.

The Withered Tree shall be renewed,
Its vigour be for ever sure;
A symbol of his fortitude,
may it from age to age endure.

I have also written a starting verse for a third hymn- this can be set to the same tune as "Alleluia, Sing to Jesus" or "Love Divine, all Loves Excelling" :

Sing the praises of the Bearer,
He who cast the Ring in the Fire.
And his humble faithful carer,
Lowly Halflings from the Shire.
Called by Gandalf to deliver,
Middle-Earth from Sauron’s wiles,
Crossing forest, marsh and river,
Never faltering through the miles.
