Sting Oh Goody...and a question!!!

Wow, I have achieved the status of Pile O'Bones. Lovely. I dare not look at the mirror.
And while we're on the subject of bones, since I am very new to Tolkien:
I have been told that elves can be slain or die of grief. This is an interesting concept. Does anyone actually die of grief in the course of the books? And what kind of a degree of grief are we talking about here?

Fenrir has just left Hobbiton.

Luthien and Arwen both die of grief or, to put it more cleary, they die to follow their true loves Beren and Aragorn.

But they were both mortal at that point, unless you refer to the first time Lùthien went to Mandos to retrieve Beren. Miriel, Finwë's first wife died of grief though. She was 100% elf and was the first to die in the immortal lands of the West.

Oh, I see. So the elves' sensitivity is not physical, it is emotional. Very interesting.
