In your opinion, which was the most intense line in FOTR?For me, although there are many, probably the booming voice of Gandalf when he commands the Balrog to stay back. “You shall not pass!”

A couple of Boromirs spring to mind (amongst many).Retreating from the Watcher outside Moria: "LEGOLAS! Hit it again!" His corruption revealed to Frodo at Amon Hen: "FOOL! What chance do you think you'd have?!"

Moves you to what? The most intense line, in my opinion, is a Boromir line (you were expecting something else?) It's actually two lines, but who's counting? When he and Aragorn are talking in Lothlorien:"Have you ever seen it, Aragorn? The White Tower of Ecthelion, glimmering like a spike of pearl and silver, it's banners caught high in the morning breeze. Have you ever been called home by the clear ringing of silver trumpets? ... One day, our paths will lead us there and the tower guard will take up the call: 'The Lords of Gondor have returned!'"Really knocks a hole in you when you realize that won't ever happen.

I don't know what is the most powerful line, but those Boromir-lines that you mentioned, Rynoah, always make me cry! And especially his expression, when he says it; his eyes so full of hope (sob)... Actually I also love the wise words of Gandalf(straight from the book):"Many that live, deserve death...etc".

Oh there are so many! FOTR was packed with intense lines...and I loved them all!-Aragorn - I would have gone with you to the end. Into the very fires of Mordor - Aragorn - Rest in peace, Son of Gondor (and he's got tears in his eyes I was crying at that bit!) - Gandalf - YOU SHALL NOT PASS! - Gandalf - Some that live deserve death speech, I can't remember the whole thing. - Boromir - In lothlorien when he is describing the white tower -Boromir - My captain, My King (oh thats so sad ) - Frodo - I wish the ring had never come to me, I wish none of this had happened -Gandalf - Fly you fools! -Boromir - Give them a moment for pity's sake! - Sam - I made a promise Mr.Frodo. Oh man... "Have you ever seen it, Aragorn?" I hadn't even read the books when I first saw the movie, and that part still got me. And it made it even worse when he died. *sniffle*And of course... "I made a promise, Mister Frodo! A promise!" Everyone thinks I'm crazy, but I fell in love with Sam during that part.I can't believe that nobody has mentioned one that always seemed really intense to me..."Fool of a Took!"

I'd have to say Gandalf & Frodo's long talk in Moria. But Boromir & Aragorn's talk in Lothlorien also ranked up there.

I agree with that. Especially "All we have to do is decide what to do with the time that is given us."Although I also love that Boromir quote mentioned above. And what Samwise says to Frodo at the end. Oh heck, pretty much all the dialogue was good, if not straight from the book.

In it I think we can find implicit one of the great Truths that Tolkien wished to impart with his masterpiece. It is a wonderful piece of scripting and was delivered magnificently. (One would never have known that the actor is an atheist! Bravo!)

There are tons of intense lines in FOTR. I personally love - "All we have to do is decide what to do with the time that is given us."- "What must I do?"- "I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened."- "I would have followed you, my brother, my captain, my king"and definitly when the Nazgul say "Shire, Baggins."
