Best Avatars
Okay, we have best nicknames and best thread names, but not best avatars. Which member do you think has the best avatar? Partially because I've rarely ever met another person who actually knew of--much less liked--Bloom County, I love the Barrow-Wight's Opus icon. Go flightless waterfowl! There's also the icon that counts to twelve in Elvish...I don't know whose it is, but kudos to whoever came up with it and whoever used it, and double-kudos if it's the same person! And I must say, Squatter of Amon Rudh's Sir Cosmo is unique and very much a part of the way I think of him.

I don't remember who it was but, I saw I moving one with Orlando Bloom getting his head shaved for LOTR. Not actually obsessed with Mr.Bloom but it looked pretty cool!

I also like LePetitChoux's avatar very much. Evil Grommit. Heh heh. I wanted to do an avatar of a picture I drew, but couldn't figure out how, as it's still on paper. Oh well. I think that Glithalion's map is absolutely brilliant by the way.

I just saw the Orli head-shave one! Lossentilien has it. It's kinda cool, but he looks like he's scared or something.
I like LePetitChoux, Túrin Turambar, and for some odd reason I have this weird fascination of Burra's. I think it's really cool. {Although, I liked his old one better.} |

I've seen some very nice avatars, but I really think Gilthalion's map takes the cake here. A great concept, and wonderfully rendered. Knowing that he created it himself really blows the mind.

I like originality in Avatar's so mine go to: burrahobbit, LePititChoux's old Mr. X Avatar and Telchar's.

I do like burra's sun and onewhitetree's lady Also I do remember Sharku's "nose" (it was a mask indeed) but best of all is Marileangorifurnimaluim's lack of such

You like originality, eh?
I drew mine. All by myself. It's a self-portrait. The original got me an A in a graphic layout project and is in my portfolio. Boo, and may I add, ya.

ok I spent a good hour digging mine up last night [without any cajoling from this thread I might add ] and am now told by Maedhros that he cannot see it.
can anyone [besisds myself] see it? and thanks Ron, even I can improve my posting with the spiffy new 'preview' feature. Now if only we can get the option that lets you view most recent threads first.. [ February 18, 2003: Message edited by: lindil ]

Sorry, lindil, I can't see it.
I always meant to ask you, onewhitetree, if that was a portrait of you. I guess I just forgot. I like it. I also like Raefidel's. That has been one of my favorites since I arrives at the Downs. I don't think she has changed it...unless I am thinking of a past avatar. I always used to the the Barrow-Wight's one too. But I think he changed it, didn't he? |

lindil, your link is to a file on your hard-drive, which won't work for anyone but you. The pic has to be hosted online somewhere, and the entry in your profile should be a link to it.

Well, Thank You for your vote, Eruwen. No I've never changed my avatar, although I have a new pic I'm going to attempt replace it with soon. As much as I like the Eowyn pic, she is not a redhead (I AM a redhead).
I have a new pic of a redhead with a sword that I need to work on before replacing my old avatar.
