Happy Birthday!

I know he has his critics among you, but as one of his fans, I would like to wish a very happy birthday to Christopher Tolkien who is eighty today. Obviously the chances that he is reading this is nil, but I shall raise a glass in his honour just as soon as I have finished my driving for the day.

Many Happy Returns, CRT - and thanks for HoME

Happy Birthday, Chris!

You know what, I'll join you! Even if I'm guilty as charged of criticizing him sometimes, I'll admit he's also done some wonderful stuff for us. I thank him for HoME and for editing Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales, and basically sharing his father's work with us.
Maybe someone should send him the movies as a present...his mood may change once he watched them. Just an idea.

Silmaril

It's a shame he didn't like the movies, although I can see why considering it was a story written for him by his father. I don't think I'd like such a personal thing cheapened and turned into a money-making cult film either.

Happy Birthday Christopher Tolkien, and many happy returns.
