Wow this is rare!! Finding two sig's I like in one day!!!

Quote:

Deep Thin, very deep. Yet it touches me in away that's hard to explain (or is it!? ). Loving it!!

Well, I'll make it three sig's because I rather enjoy Gil's as well.

How could I possibly not adore Encai's (I almost called her Wilhelmina )? It features me.

Tread softly because you tread on my dreams

I would say the important thing is that you liked and responded to the poem not that you know who it is by and what else it is like. I don't say this to disparage the study of literature (that would be hypocritical since I did so) but that I think there is a danger of taking pleasure in correctly identifying a quote, or a piece of music or a painting rather in the thing itself. One can so easily become a cutural trainspotter.

Howver I am now going to check out Whitman - I have heard of him but I can't think of any of his poems

More generally, I do love the variety of sigs. One reminds you of a favourite poem, another sets a puzzle or makes you laugh. Some provide uncomfortable home truths (Mormegil's one about dysfunctional relationships being a good example..)

Two more wonderful additions to the Barrow Downs Poetry Anthology (should be required reading on all Literature syllabuses)

Piosenniel's selection of "La belle Dame sans merci" (Keats)

Well, thank you! But it's really the genius Adams that should be honoured. You know, having him as theme isn't very hard, he said and wrote so much good stuff that that the hard thing is to chose one quote! And, of course, fit it into the sig. Many quotes are just too big

I know I'm repeating what other's already have said, but I really enjoy Meneltarmacil's Wright-sig and the sig of Pippin is Mine (even if s/he him/herself seems to be absent):
Quote:

Ohtatyaro's sig caught my eye; not because it was particulary good, but because I've been reading so much Harry Potters lately. (That explains the latter part of my signature...)

Formendacil's is, err..., wolfish at least. That Mwahahahaa always reminds me of werewolves, and I don't wonder why...

Very nice.

EDIT: And I just noticed Bergil's:

"A little disorder of the stomach makes <my senses> cheats. You may be an undigested bit of beef, a blot of mustard, a crumb of cheese, a fragment of an underdone potato. There's more gravy then grave about you.
-Ebaneezer Scrooge."

Fantastic. Is that straight from the book or from Muppets Christmas Carol with Michael Crane (Alfred in Batman Begins)?
