A two-pronged comment, maybe. Since Galdriel was departing ahead of him to the Undying Lands, he was hoping that Aragorn will be with Arwen until the end, or, since Lorien was founded on a faulty foundation(the Elven Ring) and hoped that Aragorn's kingdom would endure longer than Lorien.

What do you think?

Imladris has just left Hobbiton.

Probably both, though I'm leaning more towards the second reasoning because I can't really imagine Celeborn talking to Aragorn about Arwen in such a distressing time...besides, Celeborn would be following Galadriel sooner or later. It's not as if it was a permamanent separation...

Could be, but I think the primary thought behind it was Aragorn's reign as king being fruitful and ending well as opposed to Celerborn's fate of watching the people of Lorien leave for Valinor. Valinor is obviously an awesoem place, but Celeborn displays a great love for his people and their dwelling in Middle-earth. More so than any other elf, I'd say. I'm not the Arwen/Galadriel comparison was intended, but that's certainly a unique perspective looking back. In retrospect, if it wasn't intended, it's certainly ironic...Celeborn's wish was granted!

I think that Celeborn was referring to both the Galadriel-leaving-early situation and the Aragorn/Arwen situation. He had known that Galadriel would leave for Aman after the War of the Ring, so it wasn't a surprise to him. He also wanted Aragorn and Arwen to have a long and happy life together, which was why he wished for that.
