The Sil. says Tuor alone of all men was "counted" as one of elvenkind. He and his wife take ship from the havens at the mouth of Sirion and sail West, a number of years before Earendil tries this trick. What happened to Tuor and Idril after they sailed and was Tuor really considered to be an elf despite the Valar's inability to strip men of mortality, the Gift of Eru?
