Predicting that Faramir and Eowyn would marry

I was wondering how many here while reading the early parts of the Return of the King hoped that Faramir and Eowyn would get together? When I was reading those parts I hoped that they would get together and so did my mother(but she has only watched the movies but she still wished it).

I don't remember hoping that they would get together until the Houses of Healing. I'm glad they did, though, because it's good pair... and in the end, I think they needed each other, so it was perfect.

There was more a focus on Arwen and Aragorn than Eowyn and Faramir...

Not in the books. Faramir and Eowyn steal all the love, romance and sensuality in "The Return of the King". That's why A & A have to be given an Appendix.

So true. I wish Peter Jackson wouldn't have spent so much time on Aragorn and Arwen. often times it was irritating (example: in the Two Towers movie...)

But I do disagree on the part you mentioned on sensuality. I never saw it that way with them. to me it seemed to remain more in the Love/Romance..
(Yes I'm being picky)

I used that word consciously. I think the passage about their hair, golden and raven, mingling in the wind is the most beautifully sensual thing Tolkien ever wrote anywhere...

I agree with Anguirel. On the first time I read the book I hoped till the last pages that Eowyn would get together with Aragorn. I was quite devastated when Aragorn married some "random elf chick" instead of Eowyn. I didn't remember the little scene Aragorn and Arwen shared back in FotR in Rivendell (Well, it was just mentioned that they talked. I think that a PJ-like passage would have been easier to remember ) Then, of course, I read the Appendix and suddenly it all made perfect sense to me.

Now when I've read LotR several times, I think the love story of Eowyn and Faramir is one of the most beautiful in Middle-Earth.

I felt the same way Dancing Spawn of Ungoliant
In fact I was a little mad that Aragorn didn't get together with Eowyn. However, when I read the book again (and when I was a little older) it all made perfect sense to me and I was content with that ending. Now I just wish I could be in Eowyn's place.

I practically cried when Aragorn didn't choose Eowyn...I think it was because they were both human, I really felt a connection. I'd seen FOTR before reading all the books (I know, the bad way to go at it) and had envisioned Arwen as more of an ice princess...while Eowyn had always seemed so much more...touchable, human, and her love (or really shameless crush as it appeared more in the book) was so innocent and sweet and pure that it was far more touching.
