No takers? Tom tells the Hobbits tales going back in time to before the elves awoke and before the trees came into existence.

Lets try another. What prompts Frodo to recite the song &quot; The Man in the Moon Came Down...&quot;?

Pippin was captured inside Old Man Willow, in the Barrow, and of course by Ugluk and the other Orcs.

These may not be the ones you are looking for, though!

Sam was certainly turned invisible by the Ring... and he did, for a short time, have delusions of grandeur. So he was def. affected by the Ring.

I was thinking of the dependency that the Ring caused in its bearer, which hardly appeared in Sam. The matter of the delusions of grandeur is not very clear, in my opinion, since Sam has in that moment only one idea in his mind: rescueing Frodo.

Well done Mithadan, the answer was indeed Tom. Sauron was affected by the ring, or at least he was &quot;consumed with lust for it&quot;, even though he made it himself. Sam was affected by the ring very little (although the 'delusions' show that he was). This was probably because he was a guy with no ambitions, meaning he had no need for the ring.

So ask away, Mithadan.

Re: Pippin is caught!

I`ve been busy, Gwaihir. It is nice to be back though.

Next question. Who was the greatest warrior of the Edain?

Re: Pippin is caught!

I don´t think the answer appears clearly in any of the works of Tolkien, but, in my opinion, the greatest warrior ever was Hurin Thalion, as:
-Turin didn´t have such a high destiny as Beren (said by Melian)
-Beren needed the help of Finrod and Luthien.
-Earendil wasn´t properly a warrior himself.
...

Re: Pippin is caught!

Your guess was a good one, Grond. In the Silmarillion, when Hurin casts himself into the sea, he is described as the greatest warrior of mortal men, or words to that effect.

Do carry on.

Answer

This is certainly right but correct in a strict IQ sense.

My answer is Bombadil, because Feanor could not have Lady Goldberry.

Oh my god I must be drunk.......sorry

Beren recaptured the Silmaril.

What's a burrahobbit got to do with my pocket, anyways?</p>

Re: Pippin is caught!

These aren´t the answers I was looking for, but I´ll give a clue:
The answer is both related with a woman and the Silmarils, so you two were in the way.

Re: Pippin is caught!

Great question! Feanor asked Galadriel for a strand of her hair but Galadriel declined, probably adding to Feanor's hatred of that side of the family. But, as we all know, Gimli asked for and received three strands of Galadriel's hair.

Re: Pippin is caught!

Great answer, Mithadan! You´re completely right. I expected this thread to last longer but... it´s your turn now! Ask us!

I´d like to now some opinions about this topic: Feanor first thought of the Silmarils when he saw the hair of Galadriel (which had the color of the mixed light of Laurelin and Telperion) and thought of putting this light inside a crystal (made of silima), the same Gimli said he was going to do with those strands, so: do we have a forth Silmaril? Is it related with the prophecy of Mandos about the return of Morgoth and the end of the world?
