Not Daeron. "Faithful friend" is the straight clue. There's a very obvious cryptic clue in there.

Re-posting:

1. Isenmouthe -- Sounds like a cooling cure for drouth in a dead land.
2. Ibun -- Leave one small bread for the second-last of his kind.
3. Dwaling -- Un-tardy dwarf, with Gondor’s first, visits remote village.
4. Seems that 100 well prepared Bree-men were scattered and killed.
5. Beleg --Alliterative lines describe legend of the faithful friend.
6. Nimloth -- Elegant court dweller wore white blossom for 30 centuries.

HINTS FOR #4 - Scramble. Person.

Red herrings and hithlain! Arg! #4 has me stumped still. All I can think of at the moment is the Scouring of the Shire, which is not a scrambled person (perhaps many persons scrambling, hah!).

Is the password CARL COTTON, Nib's ID?

Not Lenwë or Boromir. Two words in the riddle are straight clues. The answer is, as I said, only one person. Three elements of the clue comprise the scramble.

As for the Password, follow the clues and you'll find it.

No. I'll refine the hint: Bree-men and killed are straight clues; three elements comprise the scramble, and the answer is one person.

Sting Closed due to length

I am afraid that I am going to have to close this thread as it is way over the maximum thread length.

Turambar, would you mind starting a new thread and re-posting the rules of the game together with your current conundrum?

Thanks.

Pipe Password 2.0

Rules for this game:

1. The questioner gives a series of questions, each leading to an answer (which the questioner will confirm when guessed).

2. The first letters of the answers form the Password (see example below).

3. Traditionally, the questions can be (but aren't required to be) on the tricksy side, and can include “cryptic clues”, as well summarized by The Saucepan Man here (i.e., anagrams, synonyms, "sounds like" clues, etc.)

4. The first person to guess the “Password” wins the game, although you still have to solve any remaining questions.

5. You’re allowed to tinker with Rule #2.

Simple example:

(1) Noldor, Sindar or Vanyar.
(2) First Telerin deserter.
(3) Monsters of the Last Desert.
(4) Not a man, to the Witch King’s regret.

Answers:

(1) Elf.
(2) Lenwë.
(3) Wereworms.
(4) Éowyn.

Password: ELWË.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Here’s the current puzzle – only #4, and the Password, remain to be guessed:

1. Isenmouthe -- Sounds like a cooling cure for drouth in a dead land.
2. Ibun -- Leave one small bread for the second-last of his kind.
3. Dwaling -- Un-tardy dwarf, with Gondor’s first, visits remote village.
4. Rowlie Appledore -- Seems that 100 well prepared Bree-men were scattered and killed.
5. Beleg -- Alliterative lines describe legend of the faithful friend.
6. Nimloth -- Elegant court dweller wore white blossom for 30 centuries.

HINTS for #4: It's a person. Bree-men and killed are straight clues. Three elements of the clue comprise a scramble.

HINT for the password: follow the clues and you'll find it.

Hmm... they seem to be somehow representative of all the races in Middle-earth... does that have anything to do with the password?

Let's try this

How about -

* Follow the clues initially,
* Be aware of Rule #5 (above),
* Then guess the 12-letter Password.

White-Hand A silly guess...

Is it Middle-earth?

Great. Nice guess. Next you'll tell me you're not failing Physics.

Am not...wait, I am. But who cares - I'm shifting, remember.

A new alter-ego comes: Guys, this is the Quiz Room, not a private message.

OK. *shuts up*

OK. My answer's still Middle-earth.

Question

Gah! The pressure!

OK, short but sweet:

1. Bringer of a heavenly harvest?
2. Commonly said to be the longest bearer of the One Ring.
3. Named speakers.
4. Remove first letter of alphabet poorly.
5. Lofty Elven title.

Some good answers there. I'll fill in the correct ones:

1. Valacirca: Bringer of a heavenly harvest?
2. Commonly said to be the longest bearer of the One Ring.
3. Quendi: Named speakers.
4. Remove first letter of alphabet poorly.
5. Lofty Elven title.

#3 is "Quendi" rather than "Elves", because the name means "Those who speak with voices".

The One Ring didn't lie in the Gladden, though; it was in the Anduin - in Westron, Great River.

2. Langflood: Commonly said to be the longest bearer of the One Ring.
3. Quendi: Named speakers.
4. Remove first letter of alphabet poorly.
5. Lofty Elven title.
