Ok since I have just started this game I shall start with an easy one: Describe then the arrow that Bard shot Smaug with. ( where for did it come what were it physical features etc etc.)

The 'Black Arrow' that Bard used to kill Smaug was forged by the dwarves of Erebor.... to describe it I would say that it was black.

Right!!!! very good indeed it was the black arrow forged at Erebor that Bard had always retrieved to make things easier I would have accepted that he had had it since his fathers days but specifications are always acceptable. noe then I suppose it your turn to ask so go ahead!!

It was Dwalin and it was dark green, although something about the story always said to me that it should have been Balin.

Only that it always seemed to me that there was an abiding affinity beteween Bilbo and Balin or maybe just that JRRT always featured Balin so prominently that the patterns of story-telling anticipate that he should have come first. It is a conventional expectation on my part, no doubt.

No. The ring was in Bilbo's pocket, but the answer is incorrect.

Yes, if you look at my question, I wanted to know what was in his pocket when he asked. I meant this to be just a little bit tricky. The answer I sought was the ring [and [/i] his hand.

Tricky, g! I suppose it's between me ans Sudaldhel to ask the next question. I'll go ahead: By sitting outside the 'back door' one would be able to see ... what would one predominantly notice?

I don't remember that there was a commanding vista for I think that the backdoor opened onto a little high valley. The chief landmark would be the Misty Mountains at one's back. If one were high enough, the view eastward would be toward the carrock.

Bilbo dreamt about this dinner when he was pushed by the dwarves into the wood elves circle. The magic of the circle put him into a deep slumber and when he was tripped over and woken he described this feast to the disgruntled dwarves. There hows that!!

Afetr the Battle of 5 Armies, someone was sent to look for Bilbo. When Bilbo awoke from being unconscious, he saw he was still alive and (I think) thanked his luck for the ring. Then the person sent to look for him asked who was talking. Then Bilbo took off the ring and made himself visible again.

Am I right?

Yes unfortunatley it is wrong your a few chapters ahead of the answer. Think when Bilbo was almost killed the whole point of the company in the first place. Thats where you'll find the answer. There thats the only clue Im going to give, so good luck!!!

It was the second time he went down the tunnel. Smaug was watching the mouth of the tunnel with one cracked eye. When Bilbo notices the gleam of the dragon's eye, he stepped back, afraid, then remembered that he was invisible and he "blessed the luck of his ring." Of course Smaug smelled Bilbo and felt the draft of his motions and respiration.
