Lommy's new avatar is really quite beautiful. But shouldn't you be sticking with penguins during your psychotic penguins game?

Surely I shouldn't be supporting either of the sides publicly?

Hookbill: I've always said it 'yo-she', if that helps any.

And Yoshi's not the best... except in Homerun Derby (for SSB Melee). You can't beat him in that. Although, speak of the devil, I do have a picture of him that I might try to get on here sometime.

Also, I haven't yet said I like Kuru's Penguin avvie. I never was a fan of the cartoon version, but I loved the original 'live' show. I watched it again a couple years ago, and I've got to say it was really lame. I really loved it back in the day, though.

Lastly, I've always been a fan of Daffy.

We'll have to see if The Saucepan Man's new World Cup inspired avatar causes Mithalwen to have an aneurysm.

I noticed that mormegil was sporting the US flag...until approximately the time the US team stunk up the field.

The bandwagoner is currently sporting the colors of Brazil.

1420! Auld lang syne

No bandwagon here, no siree.

Just recalling the glory years, folks. Lord Stanley's Cup is a very fine cup and a very fine cup it be.

Once upon a time my brother even gave me a Wayne Gretzky doll, Barbie-size. Sadly, it later came with a choice of team colours.

I've lived in Brasil and that's where I got the 'soccer fever' so to speak. O futebol Brasileiro é o melhor do mundo.

And on topic I'm not sure I like SpM's new Avvie at all but Bethberry's is great.

It's always seemed rather illogical to me - "I shall prefer this patch of land to all other as I was born in it." Though I don't want to spark a political row... Any crazed nationalists wishing to pursue the conversation further would do well to PM me.

I like Hookbill's avvie. I believe the Dwarf is meant to represent something from Mount Zoom, of which I have no knowledge whatsoever. However, I have come to associate it with Smilog, who always brings a smile to my face. And, of course, I feel a certain affection towards Dwarves in general.

It's Dwarfy the Dwarf from the Mount Zoom Challenge (on a pit stop at the moment until exams are over for some players... oh, and we need a new player for Sauron*). But I suppose it works for Smilog also. I've always found Dwarves rather comical.

Yeah, I figure the start of any dynasty could well begin with a loss of the Cup the first year they qualify. You know that D word--the one spelt in Calgary 'o-n-e'.

Joking aside, I'd sport a Flames avvie if they were the only Canuck team in the final.

And I must say that I would really like to see Esty sporting a World Cup avvie. Can someone find a green soccer ball for her? Or Shrek in shorts and those very attractive knee highs?

Ah the World Cup, if anyone can find an animated avvie of a football slowly deflating that would probably symbolise England's trail through the stages.

Aside from that, on a trawl through the member's list in search of answers for Which Downer Am I, I'm sure that I saw another member with the phantom's avatar I don't really want to go through them all again, anyone else know if this is true or if it was just my imagination?

She is called "Ivy". She is a painting by the Czech artist Alphonse Mucha, who I very much admire.

This is the whole painting:

If you remember one of my previous avvies, it was also by Alphonse Mucha. It was a part of this painting:

It is called "Summer".

(Sorry, but I can't resist adding images now that I got a photobucket account a week sgo... )

Your wish has been granted.

Esty, it would seem, is quite the football fan. And will most likely be terribly disappointed when England put Germany out following a penalty shoot-out ...

(Well, I can dream can't I? )

I see she has appropriated the image--and most dignified it is. I was thinking of something a little more light.

Say, this image photoshopped to add either Shrek or Princess Fiona.

Dream on, Saucy!! I do like the way you modified your custom-drawn avatar - very cute!

Bb, if I had Photoshop and the ability to use it, I'd love that kind of avatar. As it is, I just shopped the internet until I found something small enough that I liked. The ball is a nice neutral image, though photoshopping it to add the German red and gold to the black already there would make it perfect. It wouldn't have to mean I'm supporting the German team (in case they don't play well enough to get very far ), but emphasize my location in the hosting country.

Or I could superimpose ogre Fiona's face onto the ball. More dreams...
