Welcome to the Barrow Downs!

For my favourite battle, it isn't in LotR, but in the Silm; the battle of Nirnaeth- something. Curses! I've forgotten again. It was one of the more important battles in the War of Shadow where the Valar were at the height of their wrath...or so I think.

Could someone fill in my Nirnaeth blank?

Silmarillion, dear.

The Battle of Helms Deep was indeed formidable.

You have good taste.

I liked the battle at the Pelenor(sp) fields. I can't wait for it in the third movie. If PJ doesn't make it weird.

I'm with Evenstar: Battle of Pelennor(sp?) for me. I especially liked the part (I think it's in the same battle. Curse me for having not read the books for so long!) where Éowyn and Merry destroy the Witch King. It's just an awesome sense of justice that a woman and a Hobbit, who is not almost half the size of a full-grown Man, brought down one of the most formidable foes of the entire trilogy.

Nirnaeth Arnoediad - Un-numbered Tears

Its the battle where Morgoth completely destroys the armies of the Eldar. (The one where Ulfang betrays the Noldor and Gwindor charges Angband) The only remains lie in Nargothrond, Gondolin and Doriath. It was the last battle of five in the Wars of Beleriand.

(This is off the top of my head, and please excuse me if its wrong.)

The Fall of Fingolfin, when the High King of the Noldor singlehandedly challenged Morgoth and wounded him several times before falling himself.

Nirnaeth Arnodiad; Unumbered Tears. That was the greatest battle. Culminating in Hurin killing 70 Trolls.

Which one in Moria? The battle between Dwarves and Orcs? That was just outside it.

From which? The movie or the books? Oh well, I'd probably have to say Helms Deep for the movie and The Siege of Gondor for the books. Can't wait to see that battle in the next movie.

Battle ....hmm it depends if you are talking about the stuff in the books or the movies.
Hmmm..in the book i prefer the Palenor Battle and in the movies it would be Helm`s Deep

Thumbs up

Pelennor Fields!
I find Helm's Deep too dramatic, for the lack of a better word, but the scenes of it in the movie made me cry...
Pelennor had more action in it, with more people involved as well.

I think it's the Battle of Sudden Flame where Glaurung first appears and Dwarves sent him packing! (Well, King Azhagal dies, but still...) And Azanulbizar was a great battle! I remember it well...

Huzzah for Dwarves!

It has to be the Pellenor (looks as though none of us can spell it ) Fields. I don't know why, but I always liked that best.

EDIT: would you look at that? My eleventy-first post

I also like the battle against the wargs
(book!). In the movie the battle with the wargs was bad, but my favorite would be the battle against the Ringwraiths at Amon Sul, or the battle at Amon Hen.
