Ok, a thing that really makes me laugh everytime I see it, is this: At Edoras, after Pippin looked in the Palantir and everybody is in that large hall talking, suddenly there is a bird's eye view of the room and a man walks in the background from one side to the other, with a big dog on a leash. The dog looks like a greyhound. This is probably not something so out of the ordinary, but come to think of it it's pretty gratuituous - it's as if someone said: 'let's add a bit of motion to an otherwise static scene, let's create a diversion" I can imagine this scene being directed by PJ: "Alright, Ian, Viggo, and the rest, resume your places and look serious. Billy, you look guilty. Cue man with dog, you're on in two seconds! And, action!"
The birds eye view of the person walking the dog is shown twice, because the person never gets any closer to the other side. They show it, zoom back in for a bit then show it again.

In the fight scene right before Gandalf rides out to save the remaing force of Osgiliath one of the orcs has a red and black patterned tattoo covering his entire head; it looks suspiciously similar to Darth Maul's.
I noticed that too.

Here is a good site for movie mistakes and such. Forgot to include it in my other post.

Wow! I never expected to have that line be passed around so much! Cool!

After Arwen's vision, when an elf escort says, "...we cannot delay.", in the close-up he faces her and his hair is behind his shoulders. In the next wide shot as Arwen begins to leave, the escort now turns to face her, his hair is in front of his shoulders and the neck/shoulder area of his cloak is different than the previous and following close-up. In the next close-up, his hair is behind his shoulders again
Ha! Figwit was mentioned! I noticed the hair thing, but I'll have to watch for the cloak.

I dunno about y'all but I find it REALLY weird when Pippin's being tortured by Sauron through the Palantir and is clearly in pain, but Merry just sits on his bed going "Pippin. Pippin." I mean he didn't even look worried. He doesn't even try to wake Gandalf or get help. i find that creepy and sadistic...

Yes, Aragorn`s mother said that to him before she died.

I agree with you, Lady Snickerdoodle. You would think that Merry would yell for Gandalf imediately after Pippin looked into the palantir, when he was clearly in pain.

Since I'm waiting for the EE to come out (far cry from last year when I bought an Oscar copy in January of TTT), I'll just comment.

And also, there is absolutely no Sauraman or Wormtongue in this movie (but I imagine they'll be in the extended edition). That's odd, eh?
Yeah, they went off and eloped. Actually, it bugs me that we don't see what happens to Sauron.

For this they won an Oscar?!?! Gotta love high-budget sound-effects!

Awesome thread! Here's one I found: In the crowning of Elessar (Aragorn), after Gandalf puts the crown on Aragorn and it's a long shot, you can see closely that Gandalf is wearing tennis shoes. I didn't know maiar could make shoes
Galdalf also wears those when they ender Rohan.

and when sam and frodo hug while laying on mount doom after the ring is destroyed they look like theyre going to kiss!
San Francisco loves Frodo and Sam! Okay, no they don't. San Francisco loves Wizard of Oz, but I love Frodo and Sam and am disturbed by this.

Quote:
Okay, this one is complicated, and self-inflicted. Remember the scene with Denethor eating? Keep those slurping ew-ness sounds in the back of your mind until the end of the film, when there's that nice vapour-lock, kissy moment between Aragorn and Arwen. Reinsert the sounds. Ta-da! An extraordinarily amusing moment! *My apologies to all Aragorn and Arwen fans*
That slurping was so gross!! Now I'll never be able to watch the valor-locked kiss without laughing my @ss off again!

Okay, I noticed this in the trailers, and watching RoTK confirmed my suspicions, In the scene where Aragorn enters The Paths of the Dead, his horse runs away, with the sheathe to his sword in it's back!

Later on, when they attack the black gate you see him on a WHITE horse with the sheathe back on his sword! NOw how did they find that sheathe?

Maybe 'Arwen' brought it to him in a vision, only it was really Brego (again)?

Lammoth: I've never caught the seen that One Axe was talking about, but I'm reasonably sure that it was the same sheath.

It's the scene where Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas walk into the looming black hole that leads into the mountain where they eventually subdue an army of glowing ethereal undead and as a result win the battle of pelennor field and save the race of men.

It's just an interesting inconsistency... If they found Brego and got the sheathe back, then why was Aragorn not riding Brego when they attacked the black gate?

Well dang, this thread just got turned into a discussion...

Sorry guys, I digress.

Anyways, I really am wondering how they loaded giant chunks of the city's rubble onto the Trebuchets

Isn`t it strange how we get off topic so easily?

I have no idea, One Axe to Rule them All, but Mordor`s army were using trolls.

I gave hope to Men...

Sorry for going kinda off topic here, but the "I gave hope to Men, I left none for myself." was (I'm 99% sure of this) said by Arwen to Aragorn in the Tale of Aragorn and Arwen. Thanks!

Maybe it's not really stone, but some kind of lightweight substitute, like Paper Mache?
OKay, maybe not paper mache, but how about Styrofoam?

The gondorians were a sneaky lot, maybe they even used adobe walls to further decieve their foes...

I've only watched some of TTT EE behind the scenes beyond where the actors stop being on it, but isn't the something on there about how they did the sound effects?

Styrofoam was belived to be in short supply in the siege. And the paper was being saved for a drastic last minute plan involving evacuating the populance on paper aeroplanes. I do think it highly possible that they used thin Wattle and Daub walls (which were suitably lowish weight and could actually cause some damage) and merely painted them to look like large lumps of rubble, so as to fool the enemy.
I believe you are correct Lammoth. It is said that the architects did not plan the building of the city well, and they even ran out of Wattle & Daub by the 5th tier of Minas Tirith. They therefore had to continue building their glorious city using parts of the lower levels that weren't in camera shot, whatever a "camera shot" is...

No, Sauron! Aragorn`s mother said it to him before she died! Look in the apendices!

I agree with you Lammoth. What else would the "chunks of the city" be made of?

Getting off topic again...

Speaking of that line that Aragorn's mother says in the book there were somethings about that scene that I thought funny.

First was when Elrond says, "You need more men." and Aragorn replies, "There are none." I really expected Elrond to say, "What happened to the elf army I gave you? Oh yes, yes, I remember... they are all dead!

Another part in this scene that is rather funny is when Elrond says, "You have the power to raise an army more deadly than any that walks this earth." Look at Elrond and you will notice him shake and his eyes bug out like he had too much coffee. Don't get me wrong for I love Hugo Weaving for he is one of my favorite LOTR actors, but that scene was weird for some reason.

Sorry if this is repeating something said long ago by someone else .... but I love watching Boromir's tussle with Frodo at the end of FOTR..... as switches from long shot to close up his hair goes smooth - mussy/static-y -smooth - mussy...

I love Hugo Weaving .... and especially that moment in the Council when he does his "tense, nervous headache" bit and seems to be thinking "Why do all these "£$%E££$£ people have to come to MY house..."

And somehow those hobbits never seem to be in the right scale...

The Eye speaking of the Council of Elrond...

If you have the EE for FotR (or TTT) using disc 1 go to the scene selections. Go to the last scene (end credits) and go down once more from there. There is a little MTV thing there that I couldn`t help but laugh at on some parts, even though it`s bad.
