Why of course...that's the way the game of life is played.

Personally, I don't care much about Mew, and not even that much about Smith but it's Farmer Giles of Ham disrupting competitions and camaraderie by insisting on being called Ćgidius Ahenobarbus Julius Agricola de Hammo that gets me.

Therefore:

++Ćgidius Ahenobarbus Julius Agricola de Hammo

If we could get him out of here we could start concentrating more on survival and less on having to fully and properly pronounce his name.

Introducing variety, eh? Good lad! I am tempted to change my vote ...

But my current vote should stand as a token of my goodwill. Perhaps tomorrow.

Well, I guess you could say that.

Although out of my ten votes five of them have been for someone who had no votes for them at the time, two were for someone with one vote that I wasn't bandwagoning on, and three were bandwagonning votes (two of which were attempts to save the poor Man in-the-Moon ).

So I've been pretty varietious so far.

I think I shall follow up my hint from last night with a full nomination. One can't really call this one an underdog.

++ Mer-dog

You praise yourself too highly, Sauce, if you think my votes were in any way influenced by you. Or by lmp. It seems to me that, rather than a bandwagon, there was a remarkable variety of reasons why people wished to keep Smith. A true polysemy of voice rather than homology.

His three brothers have all been kicked off, so it's time he's been sent off, too. And besides, his silly name conjures the image of a walking egg in traditional nerd garb (suspenders, glasses, pocket protector, et al). Let him and his brother Fattie brainstorm new names together when they reunite back in civilization.

I guess he's dead then. Well, Egbert still needs to attend the funeral. And even if they didn't find the body (he was fed to the Sea-Serpent after all), they can still fill his coffin with personal momentos and such.

Silmaril End of Day the Eighteenth

Sorry this is seven and a half hours late -- blame it on the pain in the arse that modding werewolf is, which gave me a splitting headache and sent me to bed early.

Mew, the Seagull: 4 votes

The Wizard Artaxerxes: 1 vote

Smith of Wootton Major: 1 vote

Farmer Giles of Ham: 1 vote

Mer-dog: 1 vote

And so, Mew flew away rather anticlimactically.

Says a lot about the way this show is going, doesn't it?

What we need is to provide a climax. A turning point. A shifting of the ways.

Come on, you know you want to...

++SMITH OF WOOTTON MAJOR

He may be decent, but he doesn't really say much. He's a sort of half-stoned witness to proceedings...happily stumbling through fairy idylls, being altruistic, that sort of thing. Hardly makes brilliant viewing. Yet what a climax breaking his defenders would be!

Really, this whale is too much trouble. Shouldn't be bringing folk to peek at Elvenhome. Especially not mischievous toy dogs.

And I think the whale is responsible for misspellings of my name. Now I know where the u-i-n instead of u-i-E-n comes from.

I never claimed such an accolade. I was merely railing against the popular candidate whom, as you say, many seem to have taken to their hearts for a variety of reasons. I can't for the life of me understand why. I find his story terribly dull.

Still, I will honour my pledge.

Nay, nay, Anguirel!

'Tis far too soon! A climax comes near the end of a tale- not with 28 candidates to go! No, we need to BUILD to the climax, with a growing tension and struggle...

And what better way to do that than to preserve Smith's life?

Celuien has attacked one of my favourite candidates to evict this game... mainly because I actually am familiar, unlike the other Roverandom characters, with who he is. For this great whale is featured in the Book of Lost Tales, and I think that we really ought to send him back to the Legendarium where he belongs.

Leaving aside the lamentable state of the anti-Smith lachrymosity, for my part, I have been pondering Tuor in Gondolin's argument yesterday concerning wizards. He alone has had the foresight to be foresightful and consider what a character might do rather than what a character has already done. Havoc indeed a meddling wizard might concoct. In short, a day late I concur, and go off to consider who might likely find himself in the belly of a whale.

There are still too many kings on this show. Yes, even one king is too many.

The way I wrote his name should suffice for the rest of my reason. Alf the Prentice, King of Faerie, reminds me of this Alf. And I never liked that show. Greatly preferred watching the show with the Dalek-battling Time Lord in the long scarf. And that show is no longer broadcast here (haven't seen it in about 10 years), while the irritating furry creature now has its own talk show (seriously, it does).

Down with Alf.

Because he makes me think of Parsley, and of "Person"- and so is either nondescript or a vegetable.

And because no one has voted for him yet. Can't allow ourselves to appear easily influenced, now can we?

I don't know. There's just something about him that niggles me.

Alcarillo has just left Hobbiton.
Here's one!

Help me get rid of Egbert Dorkins, and I'll help you out later.

++Egbert Dorkins

For generally not being of much use to his tribe. And also because his name is ridiculous, and the Mr. Bliss tribe's morale plummets when the other tribes use this fact to tease them. For the sake of the Mr. Bliss tribe's morale, vote Dorkins!

Fair enough.

Whoever heard of being a relative of a door? or a dormouse?

I'm not so much against "Egbert", however, as it sounds worse to us moderns than it did to folk back in the good old. Still, a Dorkins is a Dorkins, and that's as bad as Dursley!
