Question Appendix B and Appendix C...

....10 paces at dawn!!

I was looking through the appendices for LOTR, scribbling on it (dates and stuff, so i don't forget). Then I got confused. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is what I read:

According to Appendix B:

Frodo was born in the year 2968 (1368 SR);
Sam was born in the year 2983 (1383 SR).

BUT

According to Appendix C (the family trees):

Frodo born 1368 (correct!)
Sam born 1380!!! (WHAT?!)

Eh? I always thought there was a 15-yr age gap between the two friends. According to Appendix B, yes. But by 'B', there's only 12 years!!

Is this a misprint in my copy, have I missed something, or is it something else??

Please Help!

It's in my copy too! Maybe it is a mis-print. Which copy of the books do you have? I have the new movie version of the books.

This is kind of scary. I guess we can count ourselves lucky though that our books don't spell 'elvish' - 'elfish' like some of the early versions!

I have it too, surely an accident but luckily is very unimportant. If you want to choose....i'm pretty sure the tale of years is older and it was certainly consulted and double checked more. The family trees are more of a sidenote.
