What happened to Utumno after The First Age...

Utumno was actually already decimated before the First Age. It was destroyed three Ages before, when Melkor was first taken captive.

Perhaps then, you mean Angband. Of that is said &quot;that its pits were laid bare&quot; etc. You can read about this in the final chapter, Voyage of Earendil and the War of Wrath, in which is briefly described what happened to Angband. In any case, I don't think it survived the First Age, it too, was ravaged.

Was it not under the sea w/ the rest of virtually all of beleriand?

I read somewhere [I think] that Angband was built atop Utumno - although I do not think this was a conception which survived .

Angband was Melkor's western stronghold, a front line against the Valar. It seems to have been separate from Utumno itself. Angband was captained by Sauron when Utumno was in existence but was not completely destroyed when Utumno was demolished by the Valar. The Balrogs and possibly Sauron hid in Angband's ruins when Melkor was taken captive by the Valar.

Sorry, I did mean Angband.
I have this map which shows Utumno in the utter North-West of ME, to the right of the Inland Sea &quot;Helkar&quot;(where use to stand the Northern Lamp of the Valar), and Angband is shown on the right of the Helcaraxe passage and to the North of Beleriand.

What I would like to know now is if the lands where Utumno use to stand, still excist and if it practically could be reached by someone who lives for example in Gondor. I am also wondering how the map to lands to the north and west of the bay of Forochel look now, and how big the bay of Forochel is.

I believe those lands to be ravaged.

There was once a straight path to both Valinor and Utumno; but the world was changed, and the roads were bent. In essence, both Heaven and Hell were removed from Arda. But we all know that if there was once a path, so there still is a path, for those who know where to look and from which Haven to sail.

Where is there any suggestion that Utumno was removed along with Valinor? It was not in the far east; it was directly to the north.

In the Atlas of Middle-Earth, Utumno is located at the north terminus of the North-South axis of Middle-Earth, and the Ered Engrin (Iron Mountains) were reared as a defence for Utumno.

Angband was placed under the SW corner of Ered Engrin, with Thangorodrim reared above the entrance. The Silm says that Angband was placed where it was to give Morgoth advance warning of an invasion from Valinor, and it was manned by Sauron.

Utumno itself was utterly destroyed at the end of the War of Wrath, which ended after the Elves had awakened at Cuiviénen, and after which Morgoth was dragged off to Mahanaxar to be tried and condemned to be imprisioned in the Halls of Mandos for three Ages of the Trees.

I've never heard that Utumno was removed from ME like Aman was, but the region around it was probably drowned at the end of either the First or Second Ages. However, part of the Iron Mountains survived into the Third Age as the mountains in the North that the Misty Mts. extended down from. I can't remember their name right off the top of my head.
