Sting How are they going to piece 2 halves together?

I mean, TTT is written in 2 halves and its kinda confusing time wise- i keep having to look to the wonderful Appendix... How are they gonna do that in the film without confusing non-tolkienologists? (I mean us people who have read the book )

I heard that they will cut between the two books. Which means that the end of book 4 with Sam and Shelob will not fit the timeline of book 3. I think the battle of Helm's Deep will be a good part of the movie. I'm not sure where they will cut off book 4. Maybe where they reach the crossroads or bid farewell to Faramir.

ya, I heard that too, they are going to switch back and forth, which might end up being as confusing... oh well!

Actually, if the cuts are skilfully done it could (heresy though it is to say ) end up making it less confusing in terms of the timeline. While reading the books I always have to take a moment to piece things together when I read that, say, Pippin was thinking something at the exact same moment that Frodo and Sam were looking on the ruined head of the stone king. Especially since, as was pointed out, TTT goes a little further with Frodo and Sam than with the rest.<P>Remember that scene in LOTR where we see a scene with Gandalf on the top of Orthanc? It ends with a shriek, and then the camera wipes away really quickly and seems to swoop far away until we see Sam and Frodo walking through a field. It's a nice way to establish that these two things are happening at the same moment; if PJ does a few more tricks like this in TTT, keeping time straight shouldn't be a problem.

tha'll be easy. Besides, they can keep the viewer ineterested by stopping things just at the climax, like a cliffhanger at the end of the chapter.
