Eärendil 02-06-2003 08:55 AM

Frodo?
(To be honest, I have no idea..)

Lalaith 02-06-2003 12:30 PM

Nei, alls ekki. En hann er einnig smár.

Laivine 02-08-2003 10:16 AM

Uhm, is it Gimli?

Lalaith 02-08-2003 11:55 AM

Yes!
Your turn...

Laivine 02-09-2003 10:13 AM

My quote then, shouldn't be too difficult...
Quote:

mollecon 02-09-2003 10:46 PM

It's King Theoden to Gandalf - I'm not quite sure where in TTT

Eärendil 02-14-2003 05:21 AM

Laivine?

Laivine 02-14-2003 11:50 AM

That is indeed correct Mollecon, sorry you had to wait so long for a confirmation. Your turn

Eärendil 02-19-2003 11:43 AM

mollecon? Where are you? Post a quote!

Laivine 02-25-2003 12:00 PM

Are you here Mollecon...? Hmmm.

Eärendil 02-27-2003 03:30 AM

Okay, it´s been more than a week, so I´ll go:
Quote:

Laivine 02-27-2003 02:48 PM

Would that be Gollum to Sam and Frodo when they are on their way to Mordor?

[ February 27, 2003: Message edited by: Laivine ]

Eärendil 02-28-2003 07:55 AM

That would be totally correct, Laivine!

Laivine 03-01-2003 09:28 AM

Quote:

For min egen del tilgir jeg deg din tvil, sa han.
It shouldn't be to difficult... Good luck!

Gayahithwen 03-03-2003 12:39 PM

Uhm, I think I recognize it, but I can't figure it for life!

Could it be Gandalf?

EDIT: Also, Lalaith.. that was icelandic, right? I've always been rather fond of that language, even though it's pretty darn hard to understand and uses many funny letters.

[ March 03, 2003: Message edited by: Gayahithwen ]

Laivine 03-03-2003 01:55 PM

Nope, it wasn't Gandalf.

Gayahithwen 03-03-2003 02:29 PM

Hhmm.. Gah. I think I recognize that quote now, come to think about it..

Aragorn?

Laivine 03-04-2003 01:45 PM

Indeed it was Aragorn. Your turn then

Gayahithwen 03-05-2003 01:45 AM

Oki.. early mornings really isn't my time of day, but finding a quote seems simple enough.. But finding a hard quote.. nah.

Quote:

That´s Frodo! To an elf, when the hobbits are going away from Hobbiton.

Gayahithwen 03-05-2003 09:53 AM

Very much indeed. I didn't feel like taking one of the hardest..
Your turn.

Sting 03-05-2003 10:39 AM

Its frodo to gollum..?

Lalaith 03-07-2003 07:15 AM

Yes, Gayahithwen, it was Icelandic. It's the oldest of the Nordic languages (ie most similar to Old Norse). And it is pretty complicated, I agree.
The Frodo quote btw was said to Gildor.
We now await Earendil's challenge....

Eärendil 03-10-2003 02:56 AM

I haven´t posted earlier because I don´t have a computer in the weekends.
I will post a quote tomorrow, when I have the books with me, I promise.

Eärendil 03-13-2003 04:05 AM

Um...I was ill the 11th, and forgot about it later, that´s why I didn´t post. Sorry... Anyway, I don´t have a quote with me, so anyone can go now. *bows*

Laivine 03-13-2003 02:38 PM

I'll go then, if no one minds. An easy one. Who is speaking, and who/what is the speaker talking about?

Quote:

Lalaith 03-16-2003 03:47 PM

That would be Gandalf, speaking about Sauron.

Laivine 03-17-2003 12:48 PM

You're absolutely correct

Lalaith 03-18-2003 02:45 PM

*bows*

Haven't got my books but am trying to get access to some. Hope you can all bear with me...

Lalaith 03-22-2003 12:06 PM

At last!
"En í einu skaltu þó aldrei
hindra mig: í því að ráða sjálfur endalokum mínum."

Laivine 03-25-2003 10:44 AM

Could you please give a little hint? hehe. I can only make out a few of the words, and not enough for me to understand what quote it is.

Lalaith 03-26-2003 03:43 AM

It is said with defiance.

Eärendil 03-31-2003 02:45 AM

Um..I think we would need another hint. Please?

Lutfiska 03-31-2003 07:02 AM

can´t understand it neither... some more hint

Lalaith 04-01-2003 04:04 AM

The character is about to die.

tifo_gcs 04-01-2003 06:58 AM

it's the witch king speaking to dernhelm/emowyn. The english quote is something like "you fool, no mortal man may hinder me!"

Lalaith 04-01-2003 09:49 AM

No, sadly not.
endalok means "end", if that helps.

Laivine 04-07-2003 11:39 AM

Is it Denethor to Gandalf? Very wild guess.

Lalaith 04-07-2003 04:23 PM

It most certainly is! Well done.
*bows*

Laivine 04-21-2003 11:05 AM

Wow, that was odd! Sorry it has taken me so long to come with a new quote. Been away, and have't had access to the internet.

Quote:
