Yeah really. Two years seems like only a fraction of childhood compared to nine! Wow!
Happy Belated Deathday to you, HI!

Oh noes, I missed mine. It was on the 5th. I was gonna have worms and dirt cake and everything.
Also, congratulations on the anniversary of your death, Durelin.

And I just discovered today that I have also missed my deathday, which was like, what, two days ago. How typical, and I am surely not alone in this one: I was well aware of it some days ago, then again reminded of it by this thread, and then when it actually happened, completely left it out...

I remembered a few days ago and then I suddenly forgot it again.
My second deathday was yesterday. Woo!

Well I could return the wishes and wish you a belated happy deathday too But hey, two years is a long time... I remember when I... uh. And here I thought how "young" I am here, but at the same time that I am already quite "old" here... well, for example thinking that it seems to me like yesterday when you joined, Eönwë. And hey - it was yesterday - only a few years ago already But in any case, you have made yourself quite "home" here... good to have you dead

Happy deathday Lommie. I have decided to start spelling Lommie this new way just to be different since I am getting bored lately. Once again Happy Deathday.

Thanks everybody. I feel slightly old now, though - I've been here now for five years, and that's more or less one fourth of my life. It's so weird to think I was a silly teenager few months short of 15 when I joined, and now I'm still almost as silly and a few months short of 20 which starts with the number 2 and is thus unavoidably "adult" age... (Not meaning 20 is very grown up, but you can't really pull the "I'm a kid" card anymore, and besides, it's not anything "-teen" anymore. I'm going to be happy about that. )
Belated congrats to you, Val. *hugs*

I've just had a thought that currently, with the age of the 'Downs as it is, if you multiply the number of years you've been on here by 9, you get your 'Downs age equivalent in human years.

You just want to be able to say you are 18. Where as I am barely 9 according to that.

I feel more like 45 then I do 9 or my real age of 15.

Well obviously the true "Coming of Age" varies for each 'Downer, and is when you get a personal title, but I think now I'm maybe starting to lose a little of my newbie "not-properly-rotten-yet"ness. Just a little, mind you.
Well you are one of the "venerated elders" from the "Early Days" of the 'Downs, even though you haven't been around all that time. Anyway, Wights are like Numenoreans at their peak, so even though you may look old in normal human years, you've barely started your 'Downs career.

Wait so how do you get those personal titles? I know the admins and I think mods too give them to you but what do you have to do to get them?
Eonwe, as I stated before I feel more like 45 then I do 9 or 15 or the 18 I will be in 2011 on this site.

Here's a brief information: Barrow-Downs FAQ thread
Practically speaking: Once a year or so, The Barrow-Wight chooses a list of members who receive a personal title. The requirements: 1) A minimum of 500 posts 2) Positive contribution to the forum Several factors contribute to this, including recommendations by moderators and administrators, and reputation status. If you are chosen, you will receive a PM and can then choose an appropriate title.

Oh dear . . .
Happy deathday Lommy and Eönwë! It appears that I have once more forgot my very own deathday until a few days after the fact. 13 December people! It just so happens that late December is the busiest time of the year for me with school and such; though it is still no excuse for forgetting the day you died. Maybe this is because I had such an uninteresting death though, who knows.

As I believe I mentioned in my DeathDay post last year, January 6th is the Solemnity of the Epiphany on the calendar of my religion--albeit in my jurisdiction and others we moved it to Sunday this year as most--and it also happens to be the solemn anniversary of a personal epiphany--the day I joined the Barrow-downs in 2005, at the tender age of not-quite-18.
Given that, only just 2 days ago, I was at the biggest Barrow-downer gathering of all time, and had what I can genuinely call the best, and craziest, holiday of my life--not to mention the only real New Year's Party I would ever say I attended--given all that, I am considering my DeathDay a rather significant event in my life... and as the fallout from Bostonmoot (but more on that in the appropriate thread) begins to slowly get sorted and filed, I think it's only going to become more apparent how much of an impact this site has made on my life. So I thank you all once again, on this annual celebration, for the wonderful presence you have all been--and are--in my life.

Happy Deathday Formy!! I miss you all so much already and will agree with you on just how much of an impact this site has made on me. I think, if we all leave a gathering like that with tearful or sorrowful goodbyes, we have all been touched by this site and by the amazing people who are a part of it.
And so I would like to say again, Happy Deathday Formendacil! It was a pleasure and an honor to have spent all of last week leading up to your Deathday with you!!
