Thumbs up Feedback

I'd also very much like to have feedback as I intend on modding The Lost Age II (at least at this moment).

The feedback may be freely given, but here are some questions to which I'd like to have as many answers as possible. I'd prefer that you send the feedback by e-mail, but PMs and posting in the thread will do nearly as fine. Thank you!

What was good/worked in the rules?

What was bad/didn't work in the rules?

What could be changed to make the game better?

Special wishes?

General opinion?

Any thoughts about this game and not the rules?

Huh, it's over then. I have always wanted to die by squashing under my bed.

But what happened with the voting records? The missing vote for Menel, and the lynching of Legate instead of Spm?

Oh yes, my apologies for turning against you without any good reason, Spm. But, well, this was my first game, and I would never have spotted the vampires by myself (I really thought quite long that Nogrod was being our last vampire, and didn't give a thought for those many things that defended his innocence ).

Anyway, this was really nice. Thank you everybody + Volo & Kath.
And special thanks for the one(s) who brainwashed (or bought) me to play this - I'm afraid this won't be my last game.

Thumbs up

Just plain hilarious!!!

What a spectacle!

And thank's especially to Mac and Eomer for making it possible!

Congrats to all my fellow-villagers for the win and thank's to the vampires for being worthy opponents!

You just think what ran through my mind as I realised that Mac had given our vampire a free kill! And when I saw that Eomer used it on me I was cursing for not being able to take part in that new twist the game would take as it was so obvious Mac had no good intentions... But then again I was pretty confident with my choice of Gil as well so I just bit my nails waiting for the narration...

Btw. Aganzir, the very same fact explains the vote-tallies as well but I think Mac should explain it himself.

I really enjoyed this, thank's to you all!

And last but not least a deep bow to Volo the mastermind! This was really something new and it worked just beautifully.

This was a really fun game, though I had less time to participate in it than I had wished I had. I have to admit that, at no time, I had any clue about who the wolves might be. Because of it, I sadly never got a chance to try to manipulate my lover.

In the end, it seems like the wolves were a little under-powered. Once the shade openly took the side of the innocents, they didn't stand a chance.

Kudos to Volo!

No big mystery behind it. I think I was quite ineffective as a cobbler, except for mixing up the voting records. I feel very sorry for Saucepan's headaches...

No, I don't.

Well, the voting:

The first day I voted Celuien, of course. I had no idea who the wolves were (though I suspected Menel and Nogrod) and Celuien just looked very obviously innocent to me.

The second day I was quite satisfied with the spread voting first. But when it became clear that Menel would be the victim, I joined the waggon, but voted Rikae instead (sorry, my love, but a seer is a seer ). I was happy to see that Menel was innocent.

The third day I was quite sure that either Saucepan or Legate was a wolf, but I gambled the wrong way and really voted Legate.

I didn't vote at all on day four, as there was no point for me. Eomer got 11 votes, by the way.

Maybe Volo should post the real voting records.

Well well well. That was an eventful closing narration. I have five minutes so I'll have to write a longer post later, but in case anyone is interested, this is who I protected:

Night 2: The Saucepan Man (but they went for Brinniel instead)

Night 3: Eomer (I'll explain later)

Night 4: Rikae

Night 5: Kitanna

He may tell his reasons but two ideas have occured to me (for some reason I have given this some thought before the Night ended).

So either he was assured that I was going to hunt for Aganzir and not Gil or then he just wished to create some havoc when he exited. I think there was something to hint towards both of these solutions combined in his last post... If that is correct, then happily he was soo wrong about my intentions!

For only 4 Days that was quite an intense game. And to think I had plans of killing Gil in the night, luckily Nogrod took him down.

I must say I had some reservations about joining this game, but I'm glad I did. I just wish school hadn't kept me from playing as much as I would have liked. But Volo and Kath that was an excellent game.

Also my apologies Eomer. I felt a bit like a traitor turning on you like that after some of the successes we had as wolves together in the past.

And could someone please explain this:

Shield

My brain hurts.

While I ponder, I'll just say that I was pretty certain Macalaure had some absolutely fiendish and brilliant plot to squeeze the remaining vampire's identity from me. I had no idea why he would give me a kill. I killed Nogrod because, well, does it matter? He could theoretically have taken out another innocent and thus increased Gil's chances of winning by a slight percentage.

It was an interesting game but kind of depressing from our point of view because we realised very early that we had little chance of winning. Villagers did well though.

(We said bad things about you, Kitanna. )

On love and such things:

There were lovers in this game, one of which was of a very sneaky kind.

I was a couple with Lommy, but while she was perfectly innocent, I was a filthy, rotten, vote-record-sabotaging cobbler. I had to lead the village astray while keeping an innocent face to her.

So I couldn't just run mad like many cobblers do. I hoped to survive til late in the game and then try to influence Lommy into doing the wrong things. Sadly, I didn't get the chance to find out whether I would have been able to.

Heh.

I wondered why Gil was so adamant that there was a connection between Legate and myself... Had they killed me, that probably would have taken suspicion off of Legate.

I'm happy to report that my personal suspicion panned out, too.

One thing I noticed, though... the whole bit about the votes being posted on the thread basically nullified the free kill given by the Lynch Seer... because no one wanted to give the person being lynched a free kill, and since they knew who was being lynched....

I'm a little confused, though... was Cobbler an actual role?

As we knew we had lynched Spm with 6 votes against Legate's 4?

I personally found that particular idea (and all this secret voting-stuff) the most interesting. It gave this game it's distinct flavour and some added excitement.

I'm not sure you had bad chances in the beginning. You saw how f.ex. myself and Roa were pretty much tearing each other apart (oh those bad/good ol'days) and how even in the last evening Spm was getting his nice theories why I was the last vamp etc...

I mean too many loud innocents seem to end up lynching each other almost every time. Think if Boro or Mac would have had more time in their hands and had not been declared innocents! The focus of discussion would have been in all the wrong matters (from the villagers point pof view).

Or if the shade would have decided to stay ambivalent a bit longer... and wouldn't have dreamt of you Eomer in the first place!

And the cobbler surely messed with us quite nicely...! *coughMaccough*

Good game.

It was interesting, because at first we thought that non-public voting would hurt us; but I think it was actually better than any alternative.

Nay, Nogrod, nay. With the lynch seer and numbers of votes, the village already had a very big advantage (although perhaps that would have changed had people known about the cobbler?) The Shade made it impossible.

Thumbs up What a great game, what a great game!

I really pity that I missed most of it, but even then it was pretty intense. Loved it! Huh, and there were some lovers present? And even a cobbler - who was one of them? No clue

I must say, from my point of view, you all played fantastically - even the newcomers, I hope you all stay with us for some more games! And yes, it's highly addictive

Though we didn't, as Vampires, end that well (here I agree with Eo that we were really a little bit overpowered, at least when Kitanna decided to side with the villagers - with so many already known innocents, it was really a killer), I must say it was nice. Even the lynch seer rule, which I at first was skeptical about if it would ever be applied, was used pretty well. And it was really interesting to see the innocents speculate about the voting lists! Now taking to mind that there was a cobbler present, it was maybe not that unbalanced (although it was him who lynched me...)... so basically, the closing point is that the rules were okay, only the Shade shouldn't be allowed to win together with the village if they have more than six members or something like that

And I must say, Volo, my death narration was really brilliant. As well as all the narrations. Once again, great game!

P.S. But whether we have lost, you must agree that Gil was a great Vampire! I am quite convinced that with some luck he might even yet make it!

With only one game of this nature behind us I think it's pretty hard to say anything definitive. I mean there are very basic games where the village wins in three days (I've been in one!) and those where the wolves finally carry the last villager to the death.

I mean there are too many particular variables that have only been tried once.

F.ex. if I was the shade, I probably wouldn't have dreamt of any of you three and at least you Eomer would still roam free, probably Gil would be alive as well and Day5 going with two vamps...

Or had Legate had more time to upgrade his playing from Day1 and he might pretty well have escaped the attention he caught...

Etc...

But I agree with you that the villagers did have the numbers on their side - even with the cobbler included. And also in the long run the voting tallies might have revealed the cheaters - were there any such persons left alive who would care to go through all of them to make the calculations...

And I think you're also right with what you say about the cobbler-role. Had we known there is a cobbler among us I think some lynchings might have gone the other way they did...

That was definitely one of the more enjoyable games of Werewolf I've played. Thanks to Volo and Kath for the complicated and interesting rules/roles. I enjoyed the narrations, especially the innovative way of having the Oracle kill each lynch candidate.

Eomer was protected because I protected him, Noggie. That was the Night after the Day that Rikae revealed herself to be the Seer. Everyone assumed that, naturally, the Ranger would protect Rikae. Ha. Ha ha ha ha ha! I was 90% certain the Vampires would no go after Rikae since they would be assuming I was protecting, so I thought to buy her another dream by playing dangerous and waiting to protect the next night. That left me to decide who I thought the Vampires would most like to kill, besides Rikae. I chose Eomer because he'd been the Lynch Seer and I assumed (forgetting that it's Eomer we're talking about, after all) that a Vampire Lynch Seer wouldn't be bold enough to post. Har.

So anyway, at first I thought I was bloody brilliant for protecting Eomer (successfully) and it took a while for it to dawn on me that the reason the Shade wanted to kill him was because she had dreamed of him the previous night and knew him to be a vamp. In the meantime I was a bit confused as to whether or not I should contine with my plan to protect Rikae on Night 4, or trust the Shade. I opted to not trust the Shade and that's why Kitanna and I were both hanging around Rikae on Night 4. This was a bit of a fudge up since that left Rikae unprotected on Night 5, but apparently the vamps wanted to kill Kitanna instead, so in the end it didn't matter.

I have to say, it was extremely tempting for me to respond to Durelin's post where she said that if she were the Shade she would kill Rikae instead of protecting her on Night 4. I practically had to bite my hands to not post "Ha ha ha! You would TRY!"

I am afraid you will fail my dear. . .Lommy is not a person that people want to kill early on and for some reason the wolves also seems to leave her alone.

Anyways I must say something about this whole "shade" thing. For the first time I decided not to care wither I got lynched or not and just have fun. A result of this decition was that I played in charachter first day. . .I had no idea that there was a charachter called the shade! I remembered the charachter, but I had forgot the name, it was by chance that I used the word "shade". At first I found it all very amusing, but the day we killed Legate it was getting annoying listening to Nogrod (no offence), luckely my vote made me look innocent.

Innocent again!

I randomly searched 'werewolf strategies' and came up with this, which is quite good. I particularly emphasise rule 2, don't post too much. Personally it gets me off the track of the other posts I have read, and often doesn't get me convinced. A quick game's a good game, my teachers always say.

I think it's really a shame that the Shade Kit had to reveal. It must have shortened the game a mite, though Legate was going to be lynched anyway. (?)

Sorry I wasn't very active during this game, but the deadline was quite a problem for me. I always seemed to be on the computer when nobody else is. Sometimes I would wait four hours and only a few people had posted. I also had a problem with not being around right at the deadline. Bummer.

Good game everyone!

Wait till the ending narration comes!

I personally think that the Vampires were overpowered, they only got 9/20 killed before they met their doom. Hard to say, it might be even harder for the Vampires with fewer players...

Have to go...

Fascinating, Diamond. I had no idea. I'm sure that's not the first time you've protected me when I was evil.

I considered the possibility that the Ranger would leave Rikae, but thought it would be too risky. If it all went wrong, the village would really hate you. At the end, I sort of thought Rikae was lying about being the seer. No real basis for this; the game just got very confusing and I ended up being sceptical about every little thing!

That's what fear and paranoia do.

White-Hand

Well that all explains a lot ...

Curse you, Mac, for making my brain hurt like that. Those voting figures were driving me up the wall.

Then again, you had good reason to spread suspicion of me and, in any event, ended up saving me, so no apology required. I should be thanking you!

As Volo and Kath can testify (sorry, folks, for my little rant) I was absolutely fuming when I returned after the end of Day 3 to see that I had apparently been lynched, particularly as the main reason given was that I had come across as "too helpful". Having been the one to first suggest both the open voting (which, of course, became my nemesis) and that it was in the Shade's interests to side with the village, and having devoted reams of spam to actually trying to use such evidence as we had, I was somewhat annoyed to end up apparently lynched, especially as I was enjoying the game so much. I mean, I can understand being suspected, even on the basis of little evidence, but to have all of those who were either known or believed (by me) innocents to suddenly turn against me like that was rather alarming.

It is unlikely to have happened, given that Boro was the Lynch Seer but, had I been given an opportunity to take someone with me, I had resolved that it would be Nogrod. Partially because I still suspected him, and partially because, if he was the true Hunter (as he was), I was pretty sure that he would hunt Legate (as he did, that Night). Hence I was fairly sure that I would be able to take one Vampire down by it.

Oh and Gil. How could you kill me off like that - with the finishing post in sight - after all I said about the new you? Mind you, I probably deserved to die, as I was a pretty disreputable character. I was rather hoping, when I wrote my character, that I might be the Shade.

I agree that, as matters ended up, the cards were rather stacked against the poor Vamps. But that was down to the Shade's choice and Kitanna could have taken her chances with the Vampires and wreaked havoc among the innocents. The Vampires' hand was also slightly strengthened by the existence of the Cobbler, which went some way toeards nullifying the benefits of the "voting record".

And, had Noggie, chosen to hunt an innocent instead of Gil on the final Night, the Vampires would still have been in with a chance. Although Gil was under suspicion from some quarters, and Kitanna and Rikae would both have had at least one more Night.

Hats off to Noggie for taking out Gil, but hats off also to to Gil, who I never really suspected at all. He was on my "warm fuzzy" list for almost the entire game. Indeed, well done to all three vampires, who managed to remain pretty well hidden for much of the game. You were unlucky to be spotted, Eomer, and I guess that you had no option but to state a vote for Menel, Legate.

Sorry, Rikae, for my determined pursuit of you. But I really was convinced of your Vampirishness at the time. You made some very good dream picks and must have been a real thorn in the Vamps' sides after you had revealed (although I sometimes wished that you had dreamed of me ...).

Good moves from Kitanna and Di too, for keeping Rikae alive, for spotting Eomer (Kitanna) and for taking the punt on not protecting Rikae (Di).

Indeed, well played all round. This was a very enjoyable game, despite the frustration at times. I rather like these games with incomplete information and unknown roles, even if they risk damaging my mental health ...

So well done, Volo and Kath for an exciting set of rules and a compelling storyline. I even felt sorry for the Vamps at times ...

As to balance etc, I rather agree with Nogrod that it is difficult to reach a firm opinion on one game, given all the ways that it could have gone.

I had no idea about the meaning of my own riddle - or any of the others - save that with the benefit of knowing who was likely to be lynched I thought that the 'no cares and worries' might signify Eomer's Snoopy cavalier avatar.

And I too was utterly shocked when Mac posted the riddle. He would have had some interesting questions to answer, had the last Night gone differently ...

This was one of the funniest games I've ever played in! So thanks to fellow villagers and to the mods.

(Even though I would have loved to see Day5: everybody accusing Mac of cobblerism, him denying it, me trying to assure everybody that we should not worry about a revealed cobbler but to lynch the last wolf and someone throwing in the theory of Rikae being a false seer... )

I see you were innocent, Saucer. (<- that's the closest to apology you'll hear... )

Lovers win because they survived as a team. Mac lost as a cobbler. Lommy won as an innocent.

Lover stuff - Rikae may skip this :p ;)

My role assignation (which I found quite funny)
Quote:
ROLE
You are the hidden role! Nearly Innocent, but not completely. For you are a Lover!

As soon you saw the handsome man in the dark hood, you fell in love. His goatee was something you couldn't resist. (Everybody back home would be envious, you would teach them!) He looked back at you and you blushed. With a sudden glint in his eye, he came to you and said "Hello". You looked at his chin and told your name. He answered "Mac".

It is your job to survive with Macalaure to the end and get rid of those ugly Vampires. But if anything happens to Mac, you'd probably commit suicide, so don't let anything like that come even near! You may vote, and PM with Mac at day. Remember that only Mac knows about your love, keep it hidden.

I wish you luck, for you are on the righteous quest to survival!

Funny quotes from Mac's PMs:

Day 1
Quote:
I guess we can't rule out the possibility that Volo put some more surprise roles into the mix, a cobbler, more lovers, I don't know. A cursed villager would fit well into the story...
Anyway, there's little use in speculating.
That was plain evil! Even though I must admit I thought it hilarious after I had found out Mac's true role. (I realised something was wrong when he posted Eomer's riddle and sent him an inquisitive pm, and then he had to confess.)

Day1 or Night2, I'm not too sure
Quote:
I guess the most dangerous thing for us will be that we will be tempted to adopt the other's suspicions too easily, because we know they're honest.
Honest indeed...

Day 3 or Night 4

Concerning tactics, I was lying a little bit when I said I wanted to lynch Aganzir and not you. In fact, I was trying to commit suicide by getting you lynched, so that the village wastes a lynch and the vampire won't waste a kill on a cobbler who s/he thinks a known innocent.

But then Rikae revealed she dreamt of you...

Let's see...

in the best case, we have Nogrod's death (1) and the one Nogrod takes with him (2). If Eomer is the vampire hunter he will take another one with him (3). Then there's the common vampire kill (4). If the vampires don't kill Kitanna, which I doubt, we even have a shade kill (5) on top of it!

I find this to be appropriately amusing.

Wait, if one of the five is you, then I will be another dead body (6). And I wouldn't rule out the possibility of a second lover couple (7!!).

This be good!
Oh, and I must say I laughed aloud for many minutes when I found out Mac's true role...

Riddles, huh?

The hardest part of the game for me, was nearly impossible to come up with anything on some members.

Well, they're really hard, because otherwise there would have been 0% use out of them. Most of them have something from my perspective, so it might have caused even more confusion.

1 Gil-Galad

”By this text I honor this person, for this person was the first to do like I do now. The person might slither up to you and sting, but personally doubt it.”

Refering to "Which Downer Am I?” thread. His zodiacs are snake and scorpio.

2 Rune Son of Bjarne

”Not everybody has had the luxury to be to the west of the Fires of Hell. This one is lucky, also to have been my on way.”

Refering to the picture in the Downer, here and Volosvej

3 Boromir88

"This Spartan inhabitant demands you finish first, and in honor of this person something great begins."

Birthday 25th of April, game started on that day. Laconia was occupied by the Spartans. "Demands you finish first" refers to sig.

4 Nogrod

”There might still be oil in this one’s mouth. A merry man stole this person’s knife. And this person must be trying to sell something, though I don’t know what.”

He called himself ”Motormuzzle” in "All about you" thread. His WW game where the Merry Anguirel got the golden dagger. The ”ad” in his sig. Hard!

5 Eomer of the Rohirrim

”Good friend of one unlucky Elf. Once visited the town without too many worries or cares.”

Glorfindel-duck in myspace. "Without too many worries or cares" is the first line of his own WW game.

6 Thinlómien

”And they say that you have to be pray before you can be the hunter... This person will most certainly be missing. Oh, and there’s the Orc!”

Just recently been wolf. Missing because of no Internet at home. Narfforc came next after her (Hard. I gave a hint
here).

And I thought It'd be easy to think of something with such members like Nogrod and Lommy... Just how wrong I was...

7 Brinniel

”Though there is no light, a great chart this person drew before the downfall came.”

Her PT and her Downer Map thread, also her homepage (get there through her livejournal account) with a poem called "Downfall".

8 Legate of Amon Lanc

”Twice lost, but well alive. One of the members of the Fellowship, though not the one with the cross.”

Has a thread with the word ”lost” twice. Has a web page ”The Fellowship of Middle-Earth”. His avatar was mistaken to have a cross in it.

9 Aganzir

”When this one came at last, the next to come, would be one real stir, a stir that wouldn’t stay.”

Gah. Get yourself a history! Well, that’s with the member numbers again. Aganzir came just before OrcLeaderalpha.

10 Meneltarmacil

”The archer great, a knight of old from the land of old. To the heart of fun half the arrows fly.”

Most of his threads marked with arrows and half of such threads are in M-e mirth. ”Ye Olde Knight” (a knight of old) in from the first WW he modded.

11 Xyzzy

”Can all the answers be in this one person. I bet this person had the greatest party, a day before another millennium came by and the winner fainted. And not because of the stinks.”

Member 6142 (Sorry... Reading Adams...). Had his birthday a day before Menel got 1000 posts (I know, I know... But this was hard.) His schedule "stinks", like he said in some post.

12 The Sixth Wizard

”After a sigh from above the sword began to speak.”

His thread where he ”sighs” in the first post, and then Anguirel posts the next post.

13 Roa_Aoife

”I fear this person and so should All, after the smile you now see is gone. For this one the cursed day will wait, but when it comes, it truly will be cursed, and rude.”

”I fear” comes from her name, then comes the freaky ”O_o” smiley, then ”A” ("Roa_Aoife" -> "I fear A O_o" ) Her birthday is the 13th of September, next year it should have been a Friday but isn’t so the next time 13th of September is a Friday is year 2013 that has the ”cursed” 13 in it... One of her threads has "rude" text in it.

14 Macalaure

”Beware of this one’s gifts (and the light), it might be that there’s a different face under the mask. The person’s list of names is long.”

Huh, hard one... again. Refers to his Annatar lj avatar, the talk about his picture that he doesn’t look like a computer nerd and to the ”Elementary Downers” picture he made. One ”light” thread marker.

15 Diamond18

”If that’s the truth, then this one you should trust (just this one time). Somewhat not onesided.”

Her biography with the vampireslaying. She has a different version of current avatar in lj.

16 Shastanis Althreduin

”As soon as some nameless thing passed, this person came to be. For the tenth year cursed.”

He’s member 6220, member 6219 is ”Nameless Thing”. Birthday 13th February, next time that will be a Friday 2010.

17 Celuien

”Bravely this hidden eye told our truth, and now our truth remains.”

Davem’s back by writing this. ”Hidden eye” -> her lj link is ”hidden” and behind it is her old avatar with the blinking eye.

18 Kitanna

”I’d chose the cake and add a candle to have it even, so I really hope this member would agree.”

Her lj avatar ”cake or death?” and the fact that she’s having her 20th birthday during the game.

19 Sleepy Ranger

”It wasn’t much but late this one did come and in this land something else this person might well be.”

Simply refers to his date of birth, which is one day later than mine, and to his name which has the misguiding word ”ranger” in it.

20 Durelin

”This person will not have to endure much longer, as the light shall make its wake in not so many days, the wind will follow and then will death.”

”Endure” refers to her name and ”light” and ”wake” to her homepage ”Hornwake” where Summer represents Light, Autumn Wind and Winter Death.

21 Glirdan

”This person’s greatest reign has ended, but it was because of this person that you all are where you now are.”

Refering to his TiGJunior thread that was closed and to the game he modded that was my first.

22 The Saucepan Man

"A death knell to the heart causes a spider-like situation."

Probably the only person in this game with ”sticky threads”. Death knell to the heart refers to the book, where Sam says so.

23 Rikae

”The lonely Orc.”

Her only thread with no answers.

The numbers in front of name are for shuffling you into your roles and into the narrations. I used this as the randomizer.

Ok, what next? Narration! \o/
