When you've officially succeeded in corrupting your little cousin (who is seven) to LotR. I'm so proud of him. Every time he comes to my house he asks "Can we watch Lord of the Rings?" I'm gonna start reading him the books soon.

Wow, 19 pages! I haven't been here in quite a while.

When does the new soundtrack come out?

I can't wait to go see the Matrix Revolutions, especially since the RotK trailer is on it!

-When you are bowling for gym class and you wonder what elves would think of bowling. Hmmm...seems a bit more hobbit-ish to me.

Congrats on your 1000th post, Sapphire!

I'm rather annoyed about my schoool's very unenlighened policy on using the library computers for non-school related stuff at lunch- they say it's too distracting.

You see a car go by your school bus with "Bilbo" proudly emblazoned on it!

You are the proud sister of two younger brothers (an 8-year-old and a 2-year-old) who are positively LotR corrupted! The only way that the 2-year-old calms down is if I either sing to him (the Fall of Gil-galad, A Elbereth Gilthoniel, or the Hobbit drinking song) or we all watching The Two Towers.

*sigh* I'm so proud!

When you think that the only decent thing about your town is that it's named Greenleaf. Of course, that's not an opinion, it's a fact!

Lucky!! I envy you! Would that be greenleaf in Wisconsin? I looked on a map once and I found it. Of course, you don't have to tell me, because I could potentially be some evil person who's out to get you (which I am not) Btw, Laitoste, welcome to the 'Downs and enjoy your death!

Okay, now what I wanted to post earlier:

My little brother joined the 'Downs!!!!! His name here is High King Fingolfin (hence the addition to my signature) Sorry, the guy who be short and ElenCala Isil, for using your idea, please let me know if you mind too terribly.

And back on topic...

~When you and your brother are sleeping in your basement (it's long story why), and your mom comes down to get something. The lights were off, and she turned them on and then turned the back off again really fast. You have your eyes closed, so it looked like the part of the trailer where Sauron's Eye flashes on screen, right after Legolas says "He is here". You proceed to say that it looks like this, Which leads your mom to say "Sauron is not in our basement." Your brother suggests that maybe it reminds him (Sauron) of Barad Dur, so you then list all the things which your basement has that Barad Dur does not, including your old Barbies. We then started imagining Sauron playing with Barbies!

Au revoir, mes amis!

Hi I havent been back here in ages school started again for me so I had to study for my school certificate and all but now I can finally post again.

Anyway you know your obsessed when you go shopping for formal dresses and you spend about 4 hours refusing to buy every dress your sisters hand you cause they havent got an elvish look.

And when you start jumping up and down while shrieking for joy because you found really cool ring and bracelet set that looks very elvish.

When you have a casual teacher and she spends the lesson giving you strange looks because you spend the whole lesson speaking elvish to your friend (WHO DOESN'T LIKE MIDDLE EARTH) I might add.

Oh my English teacher really likes lord of the rings and she has these really cool pictures like the ones in the books on the walls with some lines form the books and everything...Anyway we had a compertion one time and I won she was going to give the winner a prise so I asked her if I could have the pictures on the wall and she said no. Heh heh heh... I'm gonna have dreams about that tonight, I can tell!

Happy 1000th post, Sapphire! I have a long way to go before that honor...

-When you spend most of Japanese class staring at a girl's earrings from afar because they look like the Evenstar and you can't tell if they are or not

-When you start squeeing madly because you hear someone say "Not all those who wander are lost" on a hotel commercial.

-When you then proceed to recite "All that is gold does not glitter" to your family.

-When you're more looking forward to seeing the RotK trailer before the Matrix than you're looking forward to seeing the Matrix itself.

-When you spend your time at a party teaching your friend the hobbit drinking song while everyone else is playing manhunt

You wake up in a cold sweat at night because you think someone is in your room, but when you manage to grab your sword (yes, I've got a sword) and flip the light-switch, you realize that it's your life-size cardboard Aragorn cutout standing opposite corner of your room, looking quite menacing.

Ok this only about my third post, so i'm new here!
~*~*~*~*~*~

1) When at your school, and they have a poster of the fellowship in your library, and eveytime you pass you have to stop and stare at it until your freind drags you off to class....

2) When at the movie theature watching PoTC you overhear some people talking about LoTR, and they get Frodo and Sam mixed up, and you immediatily (sp?) correct them, and give them a lecture about the diffrences between the two!

3) When on your Christmas list 99% of the things have something to do with LoTR (I wonder if my parents would get me a sword.... )

4) Your freinds don't have to ask you what movie you want to watch when they come over they already know TTT!

and....

5) You have decided that elvish should be avalible as second language during high school.

You Know your obsessed with LOTR when Part 4

The BW decided part 3 was too big so I started this one. Please don't kill me; although I'm not sure if thats quite possible since we are already dead on here anyhow, right?anyways:

You know your obsessed when: In english we had to write poems describing a friend. My friend wrote "knows alot about LOTR."when she wrote about me.Needless to say I went crazy, and thought of the Downs as soon as I read this.

Don't re-kill me,

Yay! I'm so glad to have a new version of this thread. I really missed the old one when it was closed.

You know you're obsessed when:
~You have made it your mission to convince everyone you know to read LotR.
~You teach yourself how to play the Gondor and Rohan themes on the violin.

All right, I'll have a go.

You know you are obsessed with LOTR when -

You go around neopets roleplay forums breaking up lotr roleplays made out of chatspeak and slang. *sigh* The work is endless...

You bring a heavy copy of LOTR (mine is in one volume) to school every day, and read it whenever time allows

You name your seven goldfishes after LOTR characters. - Faramir, Eorl, Feanor, Maedhros, Hurin, Elrohir, and the injured goldfish as Brandir.

You know you are obsessed with LotR when...

When you spend hours and hours on end every day on the computer looking up LotR things to read.

When you have about 100 LotR pictures downloaded on your computer.

When you spend every minute you can with your LotR obsessed friends, Arguing over who is better, Legolas or Aragorn.

When your other non obsessed LotR friends avoid you when they see your LotR book in hand.

When your non obsessed LotR friends (even with no book in hand) try and avoid even mentioning LotR because they know they will get at least a twenty minute talk on your latest findings.

When you admit you are obsessed and veryone you know will agree with you.l

It's back! The wonderful thread is back! Anyway:

You know you're obsessed when....

You're bored, so you make little Nazgul out of bright blue silly putty.

The happiest day since the 17th of December was when you convinced your best friend to read LotR.

She has now become almost as obsessed as you, and routinely writes, "Go kiss an orc! Bob2 has spoken!" On post-its and sticking them to people. (Bob2 is the name of her calculator- don't ask.)

All of your folder and binders for all of your classes have the hymn to Elbereth sung in Elrond's house in FotR written on them- in the Tengwar. Your science one also has your entire Sindarin vocabulary written on it.

When bored in Social Studies class, you write random sentances in Sindarin, in the Tengwar on bits of paper. They're all very strange. One was, "The tower is golden-brown."

In school, you carry around: FotR, RotK, the Silmarillion, and the Languages of Tolkien's Middle-earth (Even though it's out of date.) You would also have TTT, was it not missing.

when nobody understands what you are saying.

i have this problem quite regularly. Someone asked me if I liked swords and i launched into a big long explanation about how 'yes i did like swords, but I preferred bows and arrows because i thought they looked more elegant. I am however, in awe of people wh ocan use a sword with skill'. Etc, i finished off with how if i had a sword i would name it Ringil, after Fingolfin's sword which glittered like ice. The only problem was that the person thought i was crazy and had never read LOTR, let alone The Silm. and had no idea who Fingolfin or Ringil were.

Shame on them.

Hilde, shame on Hama!

I had a mental picture of a hamster standing in the doorway of Meduseld, complete with armor and weapons, getting constantly trodden on as uninvited people march right in over him!

When the way you remember how to say 'ring' in French is:

Frodo is the ringbearer. Frodo lives in Bag End. French for ring is bague.

-You have reenacted the events of LotR and the Silmarillion miniaturized with hamsters as humans, elves, dwarves, and hobbits, rats as goblins, rabbits as trolls with carrot-cudgels (Bill Ferny-cottontail), red and black painted cats as Balrogs (Mr. Gothmogsworth), and iguanas as dragons (Smaugzilla, Glaurungosaurus).

You know you're obsessed with LOTR when:

You go all the way to Spain for two weeks and your favorite soveneir that you purchased is a Lord of the Rings poster.

I love my poster. It has these really creepy eyes at the top that are sometimes seen and sometimes not. It's hanging in my room so that when laying in my bed I can see it's reflextion in my mirror. Those eyes have really freaked me out on some mornings when I wake up.

Fisssssssssssssh!

...when you name all of the fish in your Science Lab after LOTR characters. There is:
1) Galadriel - large, silvery fishie
2) Arwen/ Celeborn - havn't decided yet. small silvery fishie.
3) Merry and Pippin - two small goldfish
4) Shelob - large catfish; always lurking at the bottom.
5) Gollum and Smeagol OR Frodo and Sam - havn't decided yet. two very large goldfish in their own tank.

P.S. These fish arn't even mine...Oops!

When you go shopping and you and your friend start deciding what would look best on the LOTR characters.
I do this all the time.Especially when I buy jewlery.I always think"Would an elf wear this?"

Too cute!

...when during an exam period you complain that 'There are too many! I cannot possibly pass them all!' and you're only comforted by the reply: "All you have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to you".

...when you stick a bumper sticker on your flashlight: 'May it be a light for you in dark places when all other lights go out'. (that happened a few times, actually -- the lights to go out, that is)

...when, after watching the entire movie, plus the credits, including the 'any similarity to actual persons...' bit, you wail: 'don't I wish'. Well, maybe this is a bit stupid, but this didn't stop me from laughing out loud when my sister said it once.

hmmm...

When for your GCSE music composition you set some of the songs from LOtR to music for lute, flute and tabor, actually trying to do research into the type of music that elves would have (that was too hard and I gave up)

And then, despite getting a rubbish mark for that composition, for your AS level one you do a Led Zeppelin style song called Mithrandir about Gandalf. (it was supposed to sound like The Battle of Evermore but it ended up being rubbish), and get just as bad a mark for that.

Anyone? No? Guess that was just me then...

... when you start throwing random elven words into your conversation.

... when your friends finally accept the fact that you throw random elven words into conversation.

... when you spend over an hour telling the story of Beren and Luthien to a relative. With actual quotes. From memory.

... when most people complain about not getting enough toys for christmas, you complain about not getting enough Tokien books.

... when you turn invisible whenever you wear a ring.

You know your'e obsessed with LOTR when:

A severe insult to you is- " I just dont like the books, that all!"

You spend your school time drawing certain characters... *cough* Faramir *cough*

You insult others by telling them to kiss an orc.

Can you tell me how to do that?

-When you know Frodo's family tree much better than your own.

-When you are seriously considering naming your kids after LotR characters.

-The doodles in your history notebook amazingly enough become detailed drawings of Hobbits, Dwarves, Rings, and complex maps of Middle Earth.

-If someone so much as mentions LotR your concentration is completely lost in daydreams of Middle Earth.

-When someone asks you if you could live anywhere you wanted, where would you? and you reply The Shire.

When you can keep track of Finw's house and Elw's house much better than you can keep track of your own family. *blushes*

When your alter-ego is a male Elf incredibly obsessed with his quasi-royal, extremely dubious, lineage.

Just what in Angband do you mean, quasi-royal and extremely dubious???? I'll have you know that I am Fionw, son of Nolw, son of Fingon, son of Fingolfin, who was the son of Finw! Why I ought to draw a sword on you! See here, Elf, this sword is sharper than thy tongue! Fall back thou foul buffoon!

*sighs* This happens every time... might I remind you that I'm your great-great grandfather, Fionw, and as such, I can command you, not the other way round.

*mutter mutter* Fine... but this isn't the last you'll hear of me, grandfather!
