This thread is strictly for ROTK movie quotes.

I'll start the thread by stating a ROTK movie quote. The person who answers must give who said it to whom and where it was spoken.

( I didn't see any others games like this one, but if there are, I'm sorry!)

You must not fail me.

Sleepy Ranger
02-23-2004, 02:32 AM
Gandalf to Pippin before the lighting of the beacons.

Mithisilien
02-23-2004, 02:45 PM

Thorongil

Right on.

Thorongil
02-29-2004, 10:32 AM
Right person this time:D

Hmm. It's nearly two months since I saw it last time, so I only remember the easy ones.

paavo
02-29-2004, 10:51 AM

Arvedui III
03-16-2004, 07:24 PM
Yes. Your go.

Mithisilien
03-28-2004, 04:46 PM
Well it's been more than ten days, so I'm gonna give a new quote.
Fine, have it your own way.

Let me also just restate the rules: You need to supply the speaker, the listener, and WHERE, not WHY, the quote was spoken.

Arvedui III
03-28-2004, 04:55 PM
That's Sam to Gollum on the windy stairs.

Mithisilien
04-03-2004, 02:32 PM

Nope, that's Merry to Pippin before Gandalf rides off with him to Minas Tirith.

Mithisilien
04-09-2004, 01:48 PM
PEOPLE! I'll say it yet again. You do not need to say why the quote was spoken or what it is about. You need to say WHERE it was spoken, who spoke it, and who was being spoken to.

Evisse the Blue
04-09-2004, 02:37 PM
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think I did say just that. Except the where bit, I think that's quite self-explanatory though, but whatever: In Rohan.

Mithisilien
04-09-2004, 10:00 PM
That wasn't directed at you, Evisse, but at the people using the "who: to whom: about:" things. It was on the first page as well. Sorry 'bout that.

Thorongil
04-23-2004, 01:06 AM
But could Arvedui confirmif people are right or wrong?

Morsul the Dark
06-04-2004, 08:52 PM

Kitanna

AragornII

Kitanna
03-04-2005, 10:45 AM
Pippin to Gimli at the gates of Isengard?

Mango of Doom

is't that one "particularly good"?

AragornII
03-07-2005, 10:03 PM
Yes, you got it Kitanna. I think you might be right Mango now that I think about it.

Kitanna
03-07-2005, 10:11 PM
I think it's particularly too, but I had no idea how to spell particularly until Mango came along.
On to the quote:
"...to the lower level!"

AragornII
03-10-2005, 07:41 PM
"Quick, to the lower level" - Gandalf to the Gondorian soldiers at Minas Tirith???

Kitanna
03-10-2005, 09:37 PM
Gandalf wasn't the person I was thinking of, but I'll give it to you anyway Aragorn because Gandalf keeps saying it. So it's your go.

AragornII
03-13-2005, 10:37 PM
OK here it goes
"to no one"
I tried to think of a hard one, but this is all my brain could come up with. Guess I have to watch the movie again ;)

anardun

"You bow to no one" said by Aragorn to the four hobbits at his coronation. (That's one of my favourite parts). Am I right???

AragornII
03-14-2005, 08:08 PM
Yeah, I guess I can let that slide.

(Just kidding- you're right ;) )

anardun
03-14-2005, 11:49 PM
O goody!! Well then, this should be fun. I'm sorry if this one's obvious, it's been too long since I've seen it. "What were you doing?"

Oh, and one quick question while I'm at it: are these just from theatrical, or can we do EE as well??

Anyhow, happy guessing ;)

Kitanna
03-15-2005, 05:37 AM
That would be Sam to Smeagol on the stairs, I believe.
And yes you can use quotes from EE as well as theatrical. :)

anardun
03-15-2005, 06:19 AM
Yes! And our non-existant prize package goes to the lovely Kitanna!! *wild applause* But yes, that is perfectly correct. Sorry it wasn't harder. Maybe I'll do better now that I don't have to be wondering whether or not it was in the theatrical or not! lol!!! Ok, well, your turn. And thanks for answering my question.

Kitanna
03-15-2005, 05:28 PM
*accepting wild applause with modest blushing* Oh thank you, I never thought I could win this. And now I want to give back with a quote of my very own.
"...be ready for war."

AragornII
03-15-2005, 07:48 PM
Gandalf to Theoden at Edoras??? "If the beacons are lit, you must be ready for war"????

Kitanna
03-15-2005, 08:15 PM
All yours Aragorn!

AragornII
03-16-2005, 10:09 PM
"Guard of the Citadel..."

P.S. Kitanna, Gandalf would win. Think of this: Aragorn vs. Luke(both with lightsabers and the Force)

Mango of Doom
03-17-2005, 09:54 AM
"guard of the Citadel indeed" Gandalf to Piipin after pippin slew that silly orc?

AragornII
03-17-2005, 08:39 PM
Yeah, that's the one. Your turn Mango.

Mango of Doom
03-18-2005, 10:20 AM
"The realm of Gondor"

Kitanna
03-18-2005, 03:08 PM
Gandalf to Pippin, "We've just passed into the realm of Gondor."?

PS Aragorn, Gandalf and Yoda are too evenly matched for there to be a sure winner.

Mango of Doom
03-18-2005, 03:34 PM
aye thats the one :)

Kitanna
03-19-2005, 08:58 AM
"Go on..."

Nimrodel_9
03-23-2005, 05:16 PM
Hmm.... Gollum to Frodo at Shelob's lair?

Kitanna
03-23-2005, 11:19 PM
Right character Nimrodel, wrong scene. It happens much earlier.

Rinfanawen
03-24-2005, 01:20 PM
How about Gollum (as Smeagol) to Deagol in the fishing boat?

Kitanna
03-24-2005, 05:43 PM
Aye, tis Smeagol to Deagol

Rinfanawen
03-25-2005, 03:46 PM
I know this will probably be gotten quickly, seeing how quick most of you fellow ring lovers memorize these movies, but here it goes nonetheless.

Have it your own way.

Kitanna
03-25-2005, 06:20 PM
Sam to Smeagol in Mordor?

Rinfanawen
04-10-2005, 11:29 AM
Yes, that's right, Kitanna. And I'm sure you knew that you had it right. I'm sorry for not getting back sooner. I went out of town on an 11-day trip, and I forgot that I had not answered yet. But it's your turn, so you can go.

Kitanna
04-10-2005, 07:39 PM
"...are to follow your rule..."

Nimrodel_9
04-10-2005, 11:00 PM
Theoden to Eowyn. :)

Kitanna
04-11-2005, 05:30 AM
Yup, that's it.

Nimrodel_9
04-11-2005, 03:44 PM
...gather our full...

eowyntje
04-13-2005, 03:17 AM
Draw out Sauron's armies. Empty his lands. Then we gather our full strength and march on the Black Gate.

By Aragorn, as he suggests to march to the black gate,

Nimrodel_9
04-15-2005, 11:16 AM
That's the one. :)

eowyntje
04-16-2005, 06:03 AM
okay, here goes:

....not to victory...

Mango of Doom
04-16-2005, 09:11 AM
You ride to war, but not to victory...

Or something similar - Elrond to Aragorn on Dunharrow

eowyntje
04-17-2005, 01:47 AM
jup, completely correct

Mango of Doom
04-17-2005, 03:39 AM
"It is as..."

Kitanna
04-17-2005, 05:57 AM
"It is as the Lord Denethor predicted." The Gondorian soldier (who not everyone is in agreement about who he is) to Gandalf in Minas Tirith.

Mango of Doom
04-17-2005, 07:01 AM
Correct :)

Kitanna
04-17-2005, 09:09 AM
"...for our friends."

Nimrodel_9
04-18-2005, 04:16 PM
Hmmm..... I'll make a guess. Merry to Eowyn?

Kitanna
04-18-2005, 06:49 PM
Close, just switch who said it. And it's yours.

AragornII
04-18-2005, 09:05 PM
Eowyn to Merry. "Courage, Merry. Courage for our friends." ;)

Kitanna
04-18-2005, 09:42 PM
Jes

AragornII
04-23-2005, 09:23 AM
"...warning shot past..."

Mango of Doom
04-23-2005, 10:41 AM
"Legolas, fire a warning shot past the bosun's ear" Aragorn to Legolas at the Corsair ships. (i don't actaully remember how to spell bosun" :()

AragornII
05-01-2005, 03:01 PM
True, that is the answer.

Mango of Doom
05-01-2005, 03:21 PM
"I don't think I want to"

AragornII
05-01-2005, 06:37 PM
Frodo to Gollum at the entrance to Shelob's tunnel.

AragornII
05-14-2005, 08:29 PM
Uh... Mango? You there? ;)

Mango of Doom
05-15-2005, 06:15 AM
Oops, sorry :s Yes that is the one, your turn :D

AragornII
05-15-2005, 11:25 AM
OK, here goes...
"...born to be."

Kath
05-15-2005, 01:49 PM
Is that Elrond to Aragorn - not sure of the exact wording but when they meet in Theoden's tent?

AragornII
05-17-2005, 08:05 PM
Yeah, you got it. :)

Kath
05-18-2005, 11:19 AM
Woo! Hmm new quote - it's easy, I've not watched this one in a while:

What say you!

Kitanna
05-18-2005, 02:13 PM
Aragorn to the dead in the Paths of the Dead. I forgot the real name for them so I'll just call them the dead

Kath
05-18-2005, 02:26 PM
Thats the one.

Kitanna
05-18-2005, 08:06 PM
"Don't go where..."

Kath
05-19-2005, 05:40 AM
Don't go where I can't follow.

Which is Sam to Frodo.

Kitanna
05-19-2005, 02:05 PM
Yes, yes it is

Kath
05-20-2005, 05:40 AM
Hurrah! Ok:

Kitanna
05-21-2005, 05:44 PM
Theoden to his Riders on just before the battle of Pellenor.

Kath
05-22-2005, 05:56 AM
Yes indeed! (Love that bit :D )

Kitanna
05-22-2005, 08:08 AM
As do I.
"...it one last time."

Kath
05-22-2005, 01:15 PM
"I should have liked to have seen it one last time" (or something like it).

Bilbo talking to Frodo about the Ring on the way to the Grey Havens.

Kitanna
05-22-2005, 02:42 PM
Jes, take it away Kath.

Kath
05-22-2005, 02:46 PM
Many thanks!
Next:

" . . . but I can . . ."

Nimrodel_9
05-22-2005, 06:43 PM
Sam speaking to Frodo. "I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you!"

Kath
05-23-2005, 03:44 AM
It is - I was having a sentimental moment!

Kitanna
06-09-2005, 09:25 AM
ten day rule
I enjoy the ROTK quote game, so I'm going to try and keep it from dying.

"...must not fail..."

Kath
06-09-2005, 10:28 AM
Apologies! Lack of e-mail and useless brain so forgot this thread!

You must not fail me.

Gandalf to Pippin when he's climbing up to the beacon.

Kitanna
06-09-2005, 10:41 AM
Don't apologize, Kath! Anywho it's all yours.

Kath
06-09-2005, 03:16 PM
Ok then next:

. . . again shall be . . .

Kitanna
06-10-2005, 05:14 PM
Arwen's narration "crownless again shall be king"

Kath
06-11-2005, 06:03 AM
Tis indeed!

Kitanna
06-11-2005, 09:09 AM
"Along with everything..."

Kath
06-15-2005, 05:39 AM
I really couldn't find this anywhere - is it in the EE?

Kitanna
06-15-2005, 09:29 AM
No it's not in EE. But I'll give you a hint it's said during a Frodo scene

Kath
06-15-2005, 09:40 AM
Ah! I have found it! I knew the words and the voice but could not place the speaker but here it is.

Shagrat: It's going to the Eye, along with everything else.

About Frodo's 'shiny shirt'.

Kitanna
06-15-2005, 12:07 PM
That's it, all yours Kath

Kath
06-15-2005, 04:22 PM
Cheers, thanks for the hint too.

Merry: Pippin! Help! Gandalf! Someone help him!
