WELCOME! WELCOME! WELCOME! To the greatest game show on the Elven Network. I am your host, Galadel Vinorel, and I will guiding you through this fun and exciting game.
This is how it works. I will begin the game by asking a qustion. Whoever gets it right first may ask the next question. So on, and so forth.
Rules for the Questions~
Questions must only be about Elven Trivia: such as Elven folklore, Elven places, Elven people, Elven mythology, and other such elven topics.
For every question that you get right you will recieve one point. These totals will be totaled and scored each week. At the end of the month whoever has the highest score will recieve the privelege to begin the next month with the first question and will be scored in the Elven Hall of Fame. Hopefully, we may even have some tournaments between players if this game becomes large enough.
Scoreboard~

This first one is an Elven "mythology" question.
Who is said to be the Queen of the Stars by the Elves?
Good luck to you all! :D
NightKnight
03-19-2004, 10:21 AM
That was Elbereth Gilthoniel, or Varda. :)
Galadel Vinorel
03-22-2004, 10:21 AM
Correct! Correct!
Now you may proceed with the questioning NigthKnight. :D
*Note the scoreboard has now been edited.
NightKnight
03-22-2004, 10:57 AM
Very well...
What were the elves that stayed at Cuivienen called?
luthien-elvenprincess
03-22-2004, 12:22 PM
The Avari.
NightKnight
03-22-2004, 12:43 PM
Correct, one point to you and your turn. :)
luthien-elvenprincess
03-22-2004, 06:37 PM
An island was used by Ulmo to transport elves over the sea to Valinor.
Where did a piece of this island break off and what name was it given?
symestreem
03-22-2004, 07:05 PM
The piece broke off at the shaols at the mouth of the Sirion, and it was called the Isle of Balar.
luthien-elvenprincess
03-22-2004, 07:17 PM
Correct, your turn. :)

04-03-2004, 09:57 AM
This thread should not die. At least it should not die alone, unaided.
symestreem
04-03-2004, 11:58 AM
:( Sorry!
Who was the first half-elven?
Thorongil
04-03-2004, 01:18 PM
Earendil?
The Perky Ent
04-03-2004, 04:58 PM
Is it Dior?
symestreem
04-03-2004, 06:46 PM
Nope. :D
Firefoot
04-03-2004, 06:53 PM
Lúthien!
The Perky Ent
04-04-2004, 09:33 AM
Could it be Elros?
symestreem
04-04-2004, 03:36 PM
:D Firefoot has it!!
Actually, Luthien, Earendil and the Dol Amroth guy (Galdor?) were the only true half-elven.
Firefoot
04-04-2004, 03:44 PM
Okay, at the end of the Third Age, who was the oldest Elf living in Middle-earth?
By the way, who is keeping track of scoring?
Fingolfin II
04-04-2004, 04:32 PM
Cirdan?
Firefoot
04-04-2004, 04:35 PM
Quite correct.
Fingolfin II
04-04-2004, 04:44 PM
I think Galadel is keeping track.
Anyway, which two elves were "unfriends forever"?
Nilpaurion Felagund
04-05-2004, 12:22 AM
My grandfather's demented half-brother (Fëanor) and my darling aunt (Galadriel)
Fingolfin II
04-05-2004, 12:25 AM
Haha, yes.
Nilpaurion Felagund
04-05-2004, 12:31 AM
He is the King of Elves (and my godfather ;) ).
Evisse the Blue
04-05-2004, 01:38 AM
Ingwe?
Nilpaurion Felagund
04-05-2004, 01:59 AM
Yes!
Evisse the Blue
04-05-2004, 02:16 AM
What did the Sickle of the Valar mean for the Elves?
Nilpaurion Felagund
04-05-2004, 02:20 AM
A sign for the fall of Morgoth?
Evisse the Blue
04-05-2004, 02:25 AM
Your go. (you got 2 points so far!)
Nilpaurion Felagund
04-05-2004, 02:29 AM
The brother of Elwë and Olwë.
Evisse the Blue
04-05-2004, 02:35 AM
Elmo :D
Nilpaurion Felagund
04-07-2004, 03:02 AM
He, I believe, became a famous muppet after the Third Age.
Two points so far for you. :)
Evisse the Blue
04-08-2004, 12:25 AM
What was the name given to Finrod by Beor?
Fingolfin II
04-08-2004, 01:07 AM
Nom, meaning Wisdom.
Evisse the Blue
04-08-2004, 01:10 AM
Correct! :)
Fingolfin II
04-08-2004, 01:17 AM
Here's an easy one:
If Fëanor's House wasn't 'Dispossessed' of the Kingship of the Noldor, who would have been High King of the Noldor at the end of the First Age?
Firefoot
04-08-2004, 05:46 AM
Maedhros?
Thorongil
04-08-2004, 08:06 AM
Didn't all of Feanor's sons die? If they did, would it be Celebrimbor?
The Perky Ent
04-08-2004, 03:11 PM
Well, actually, Maglor threw the simaril into the sea and wanders the beaches, so i guess Maglor is the answer. So, although Celebrimbor is probably the answer, i must stick to Maglor!
Fingolfin II
04-09-2004, 01:29 AM
I was thinking of Celebrimbor, since Maglor's fate is unknown. Sorry Perky .
Thorongil
04-11-2004, 05:14 AM
I guess that means it's my turn, so:
What names did the Vanyar and the Noldor have for the sun and the moon?
The Perky Ent
04-11-2004, 11:14 AM
Well, the Vanyar words for sun and moon is Isil and Anar. and the noldor is...um...vasa and Rana?
Galadel Vinorel
04-12-2004, 09:21 AM
I would like to thank all of you that have been helping to keep my thread alive while I have been away. I sincerly appreciate it. :D (I think I'm going to cry... :( :) )
I have edited the scoreboard, but I am in a bit of dilema. 3 people: Evisse the Blue, Fingolfin II, and Nilpaurion Felagund are in a tie at 2 points, so I cannot not as yet put anyone in the Elven Hall of Fame. I would very much like your all's suggestions about how to break this tie. We can do most anything. So, please send in your comments, etc. by Wednesday, or Friday at the latest.
Once again, thank you all for all of your help.
Sincerly,
~Galadel
Thorongil
04-12-2004, 11:12 PM
Correct, Perky.
Galadel Vinorel
04-13-2004, 09:08 AM
Here is what seems to be an answer to the problem of the tie. Tomorrow at around 3p.m. (as is the time recorded on the Baqrrowdowns) I will post a question for Evisse the Blue, Fingolfin II, and Nilpaurion Felagund to answer only. Whoever answers this question correctly first will be the Hall of Fame member of the month for March.
Yet, if this tiebreaker does not work we have two options. The first choice is to not have a Hall of Fame member for March, and just to record one for April at the end of the month. The final choice is for me to go back and see at the very end of March- who had the most points.
I would really like all of your all's input in this matter
Perky: please do not ask any questions until we have decided what is to be done.
Namarie.
~Galadel
*Note: the Scoreboard has now been edited.
The Perky Ent
04-13-2004, 09:54 AM
This is getting confusing....but i respect that! I'll lay off with the question until we can get it solved.
Fingolfin II
04-14-2004, 01:26 AM
3 pm BD time is about 1 am my time, so I'm out. Good luck Evisse and Nil.
Galadel Vinorel
04-15-2004, 08:41 AM
Because of Fingolfin's inability to post at the time listed, we shall not have a trivia contest. Instead there will be no Hall of Fame member for March. When April 30th arrives then we will see who the April member shall be.
We will now pick up again with The Perky Ent asking questions. So, Perky, start whenever you're ready.
Good luck to you all. :D
~Galadel
The Perky Ent
04-15-2004, 09:15 AM
Now that we have that insident out of the way,
After Aragorn Elessar died, Arwen went to ___ to die
Bombadil
04-15-2004, 10:24 AM
Lorien
NightKnight
04-15-2004, 10:29 AM
Or if you're looking for a more exact answer, Cerin Amroth.
The Perky Ent
04-15-2004, 04:50 PM
and NK is right...almost as always
NightKnight
04-16-2004, 03:29 AM
Am I that good? :p
Oh well, a question...
How many (greater) fractions did the Teleri break up into?
Thorongil
04-16-2004, 05:13 AM
There was those who crossed over on Tol Eressea, Thingol's people who stayed in Beleriand, And the Nandor if you count them, So 3?
NightKnight
04-16-2004, 05:14 AM
Exactly. :)
Thorongil
04-16-2004, 09:53 AM
How many Elves has been in posession of a ring of Power?
The Perky Ent
04-16-2004, 10:08 AM
random guess, 4?
Thorongil
04-16-2004, 10:09 AM
Nope. And I wouldn't mind if you named them.
The Perky Ent
04-16-2004, 10:14 AM
Ok, well i count the rings of power as those rings made in the second age by celebrimbor and sauron.
So, Cirdan (1) who gave his ring to Gandalf, but since he's an istari, he doesn't count. Then Galadriel (2) had a ring of power. Then Gil-Galad (3) had one but he gave his to Elrond (4). But if that's wrong...um...Celebrimbor (5) because he forged the rings
Thorongil
04-16-2004, 10:23 PM
Perfect!
The Perky Ent
04-18-2004, 08:51 PM

Yup.
Galadel Vinorel
04-26-2004, 09:06 AM
Let us all give up a warm "Congratulations!!" to Thorongil and The Perky Ent who have reached 3 points a piece. :D Also, I would like to thank you both for your unending dedication to this game and continued questioning. Great job!! :D Keep up the good work!
There will be no trivia questions to be posted or entered starting immediately on May 1st at 12a.m., so that I can tally all points and put someone's name into the Elven Hall of Fame. Questioning will be resuming on May 2nd at 12a.m. So, get in as many points as you can in this last week of questioning.
Good luck to all of you!! :D
As Always, With Deep Respect,

Bombadil
04-26-2004, 07:07 PM

Noldor?
symestreem
04-26-2004, 08:03 PM

The Perky Ent
04-29-2004, 04:40 PM

Galadel Vinorel
05-03-2004, 08:57 AM
It has happened again! We have 2 people, Thorongil and The Perky Ent, who are tied with three points each for the right to be the April member of the Elven Hall of Fame. Instead of going through a bunch of trouble over who should be given this title again, I will give them both this honor. :D
So....Congratulations to Thorongil and The Perky Ent, who are the new April members of the Elven Hall of Fame!! Yeah!! :D
I believe that it is now symestreem's turn to ask a question, so ask away, symestreem!!
As always,
Galadel
Thorongil
05-03-2004, 09:55 AM
I probably shouldn't do this but I have to...
YAY!! :D :D :D
Congrats to Perky too.

Galadel Vinorel
05-04-2004, 08:52 AM

Hope all of you have a great time here and thank you for competing in Elvorama!!
Thorongil
05-06-2004, 07:28 AM
Well, I found that it is men and women, so I doubt you would find them in a ring.
symestreem
05-06-2004, 01:57 PM
Yes.
Galadel Vinorel
05-19-2004, 08:50 AM
I have pmed Thorongil and have recieved no response yet. So, in order to move the questioning along, I will be posting the next question. I do hope that no one shall be offended by my actions, for they were not meant in any way to offend anyone at all. :D
Question:
Who was the Elven Lord that Elrond the Half-Elven was the "apprentice", for lack of a better word, of during the time before and throughout the Battle of the Last Alliance of Men and Elves?
Have at it folks!! ;) :D
Firefoot
05-19-2004, 01:29 PM
Gil-Galad.
Galadel Vinorel
05-20-2004, 08:41 AM

Good job, Firefoot. It is now your turn to post a question. :)
*Note: The Elvorama Scoreboard has now been edited.

What was Galadriel's epessë?
Fingolfin II
05-20-2004, 04:31 PM

Firefoot
05-20-2004, 06:36 PM
Nope.
symestreem
05-20-2004, 07:00 PM
Galadriel was the epesse, but her mother-name was Nerwen, and her father name was Artanis.
Firefoot
05-21-2004, 05:30 AM

Galadel Vinorel
05-30-2004, 09:47 AM
Sorry, everyone, for not being here for a while. Our basement flooded, so it's been rather hectic around here for a while. But, now I have retuned. Thank you all for keeping this thread running while I was away.
It's your turn to ask a question, symestreem.
Thorongil: It's okay. Glad you're back with us.

Firefoot
06-15-2004, 06:22 PM
Not all of them. One of those for sure is right, and I will accept a second.
The Perky Ent
06-15-2004, 06:28 PM
Maedhros, Amrod, Amros, and Nerdanel? Nerdanel is said to have Auburn hair, which is a shade of red.

Firefoot
08-13-2004, 01:46 PM
What does "Calaquendi" mean, and what does it refer to?
The Perky Ent

Calaquendi means, Elves of the Light, and it refers to the Vanyar, Noldor, and Teleri that saw the light of the two trees.
Firefoot
08-13-2004, 06:55 PM
Yep.
The Perky Ent
08-13-2004, 11:08 PM
Right! Answer this question
Where are our protectors? Where is the light? We are all lost, never to be seen as we were. We survive, yet, thoughout the ages, under the eyes of a harder curse.
Who are we?

Nilpaurion Felagund
08-18-2004, 12:00 AM
But no thanks. Telpelin needs no cleaning. It hasn't been used to kill a living thing since . . . since the Fourth Age.
Anywhen, who was the Vala the Eldar of Middle-earth revered the most?
Fingolfin II
08-18-2004, 01:26 AM
Elbereth, or Varda.
Nilpaurion Felagund
08-18-2004, 01:41 AM
Go on. :)
Fingolfin II
08-20-2004, 06:03 AM
Cheers.
Name two High Kings of different races that were great friends, but were sundered from each other.
Bombadil
08-20-2004, 01:01 PM
Um... Different elven races, or races in general? Elendil and Gil-Galad?
Fingolfin II
08-20-2004, 07:53 PM
Sorry, I should have been more clear. I meant different Elven races- like the Vanyar and Noldor, for example.
Rilwen Gamgee
08-20-2004, 09:52 PM
Fingon and Maedhros?
Fingolfin II
08-20-2004, 10:39 PM
Nope. Fingon and Maedhros are both Noldor.

Nilpaurion Felagund
08-22-2004, 11:27 PM
Finrod atarinya.
NightKnight
08-23-2004, 01:35 PM
Atarinya? What is that? But it was your dear father that I had in mind, so please carry on.
Luthien, you never really died. You just walked away to Mandos and then went back.
Nilpaurion Felagund
08-23-2004, 09:22 PM
Atar, father + inya, possessive pronoun of second degree.
In short, it means "my father".
Anywhen, which of the Eldar had his own land named after him?
Morsul the Dark
08-23-2004, 09:38 PM
Lorien?
Nilpaurion Felagund
08-23-2004, 09:55 PM

Maglor- Maglor's Gap?
Nilpaurion Felagund
08-27-2004, 10:40 PM
I didn't know there were two answers. I was thinking of Caranthir.
*sigh* Very well, Fingolfin II.
Fingolfin II
08-28-2004, 02:04 AM
Cheers,
Name 35 Elven princes/princesses who were born before Elrond/Elros.
(A prince can include people who later became High Kings- e.g. Gil-galad, or Fingolfin- so you couldn't have anyone like Finwe, because he was a King, not a prince).
Have fun ;).
NightKnight
08-28-2004, 04:17 AM
Wow...fun question. :p
Feanor, Fingolfin, Finarfin, Earwen, Maedhros, Maglor, Celegorm, Curufin, Caranthir, Amrod, Amras, Fingon, Gil-Galad, Turgon, Idril, Earendil, Aredhel, Maeglin, Finrod, Orodreth, Finduilas, Angrod, Aegnor, Galadriel, Luthien, Dior, Galathil, Galadhon, Nimloth, Celeborn, Elwing, Denethor, Legolas, Elured, Elurin.
I'm not quite sure about Legolas, but those are all I could come up with. 35! :p
Fingolfin II
08-28-2004, 05:19 AM
I didn't even think of Denethor or Legolas- I had Gelmir and Gwindor. But your way is better. You're up :).
NightKnight
08-28-2004, 05:49 AM
Ah, forgot those. But they weren't royalty, that's why. ;)
Who were Luthien's cousins?
Firefoot
08-28-2004, 06:02 AM
Cousins? With an S?
The only first cousin is Eärwen, but maybe you mean Galadriel, Aegnor, Angrod, Orodreth, and Finrod?
NightKnight
08-28-2004, 07:29 AM
She had more than one first cousin. And no, I'm not counting Finrod &co.
luthien-elvenprincess
08-28-2004, 09:59 AM
Earwen and Galadhon?
NightKnight
08-28-2004, 02:46 PM
Still not it.
luthien-elvenprincess
08-29-2004, 07:52 AM
Do you also mean to include first cousins through marriage? THen, Belegund, Baragund, Bereth, Earwen and Galadhon?
NightKnight
08-29-2004, 10:30 AM
Nope, not through marriage.
Nilpaurion Felagund
11-18-2004, 10:38 PM
Give us the answer, Master NightKnight, and have for us a new question!
NightKnight
11-19-2004, 12:36 PM
I'm confused. To me it seems that Luthien had the answer, I must have been distracted. That's the only reasonable answer I can find. So Luthien should ask a new question.
luthien-elvenprincess
11-20-2004, 08:33 AM
Whoop--a cheer for luthien. (oops, just a bit vainglorious, to be leading a cheer for one's self  )
The "most infamous" of all treachery was caused by 'what' in which elf.
(Hope I worded this question so that it makes sense  )
NightKnight
11-20-2004, 10:10 AM
Maeglin's desire for Idril?
luthien-elvenprincess
11-21-2004, 08:01 PM
That is one-half of the answer ;)
luthien-elvenprincess
11-30-2004, 07:19 AM
anyone want a clue?
Firefoot
11-30-2004, 02:58 PM
His desire for Idril and his hatred for Tuor (which made it easier for him to concede to Morgoth's demands)?
luthien-elvenprincess
12-01-2004, 12:39 PM

Nilpaurion Felagund

Sophia the Thunder Mistress
01-31-2005, 06:00 AM
the Kinslaying?
Firefoot
01-31-2005, 06:07 AM
And....
Sophia the Thunder Mistress
01-31-2005, 06:12 AM
Then Galadriel spoke to Melian of of the Silmarils, and of the slaying of King Finwë at Formenos; but still she said no word of the Oath, nor of the Kinslaying, nor of the burning of the ships at Losgar. But Melian said: 'Now much you tell me, and yet more I perceive. A darkness you would cast over the long road from Tirion, but I see evil there, which Thingol should learn for his guidance.'
'Maybe,' said Galadriel, 'but not of me.' --The Silmarillion, "Of the Noldor in Beleriand"
Can't believe I didn't remember that the first time around.
Firefoot
01-31-2005, 06:16 AM
Now you have it!
Sophia the Thunder Mistress
01-31-2005, 09:10 PM

You may continue. :)
Fingolfin II
02-03-2005, 11:49 PM
Cheers. By the end of the First Age, how many descendants of Finwe were alive (and who were they)?
Nilpaurion Felagund
02-03-2005, 11:51 PM
Galadriel, Gil-galad, Celebrimbor, Elrond and Elros.
That's all, I think.
Nilpaurion Felagund
03-17-2005, 05:44 AM
Fin2?
Nilpaurion Felagund
07-31-2005, 08:10 AM
Give me the first name of the betrayer of the Hidden Rock.
Alcarillo
07-31-2005, 01:16 PM
The Hidden Rock is Gondolin, so its betrayer would be Lómion (Maeglin's first name, literally. He wasn't called Maeglin until twelve years old.)
Nilpaurion Felagund
08-01-2005, 03:52 AM
You read through my attempt at a tricksy question.
Your thread. :)
Alcarillo
08-01-2005, 08:58 PM

Alcarillo
08-03-2005, 09:17 PM
Was it Nimloth?
Nilpaurion Felagund
08-03-2005, 09:34 PM
Ach! Ja! Nimloth was also a pure Elf married to a mortal! Agh!
You've totally ruined the effect I was looking for, you smart person, you . . .
*sigh* Your thread again, I guess.
Alcarillo
08-03-2005, 10:48 PM

Yep. Your turn. :)
Nilpaurion Felagund
08-05-2005, 09:49 PM
Aside from Lúthien, Idril, and Nimloth, name the other pure Elf who married a mortal.
(Recycling questions, I know.)
Alcarillo
08-05-2005, 10:20 PM
In The Peoples of Middle-earth, in Tal-elmar (chapter XVII), Hazad's mother is elven. Does she count?
Nilpaurion Felagund
08-05-2005, 11:21 PM
Just because I can. :p
You'll have to look for another, sorry. ;)
Alcarillo

Nilpaurion Felagund
08-10-2005, 08:36 PM
Sorry, but he had more than one brother.
Alcarillo
08-10-2005, 08:45 PM
Two brothers. Olwe and Elmo
Nilpaurion Felagund
08-10-2005, 09:06 PM
