Who was Frodo's father?
Daniel Telcontar
07-27-2002, 02:15 PM
You are correct, and to your question the answer is: Drogo Baggins.
Who built the Golden hall of Meduseld?
Telephirion
08-04-2002, 09:57 AM
This one is certainly a bit trickier. I can tell you for sure that the guy's name began with "Eo" and also that the subtitle "the Younger" was added to his name. Perhaps it was Eorl, or Eomund, or is that Eowyn's father? In any case, I'll post a new question until somebody can correct me on that.
Question: who was the big bad-*** in Arda before Sauron?
Lothiriel Silmarien
08-04-2002, 10:54 AM
Melkor! Or Morgoth. Same guy.
Daniel Telcontar
08-04-2002, 11:37 AM
Telephirion; You are totally wrong, it was neither Eorl nor Eomund. The answer is Brego, the son of Eorl. Didn't you know what the Golden Hall is? It is certainly impossible for Eomund to have built it, since he wasn't even king. Sorry, Lothiriel, for breaking in, you are of course the next to give a question.

That indeed would be the number Mr. #10, sir (wondering how a Nazgul would know that... http://www.plauder-smilies.de/sad/confused5.gif )
Sam eased the pack on his shoulders, and went over anxiously in his mind all the things which were stowed in it: his chief treasure, his cooking gear; and the little box of salt that he always carried and refilled when he could; woolen hose; linen; various small belongings of his master's that Frodo had forgotten and Sam had stowed to bring them all out in triumph when they were called for. He went through them all.

Denethor, steward of Gondor.
Thank you InklingElf btw, for keeping this to an easy level for the beginers who desperately need an easy trivia question. It would be nice to keep this limited to LotR and the Hobbit really. It would eliminate a lot of the complaints about not being able to jump into a topic because they're knowledge base isn't wide enough as of yet.

Hm, sorry this has taken forever... *embarrassed face* Since this thread was Very Easy Trivia I was only thinking of a swan, not which color. And since I'm in the process of moving I haven't got my books to look it up, so I have absolutely no idea what color the thing was. Lathspell, you take it cause you had swan first. Many apologies.

Who cast the original spell on the West door of Moria?
Sophia the Thunder Mistress
06-25-2003, 07:26 AM
The West Door would be the door made by Narvi and decorated by Celebrimbor. The first spell, I'm rather less sure of. Do you mean the first spell that set up the "Speak Friend and Enter" System, or the first spell cast when the Fellowship arrived there? In situation A) I haven't the foggiest, Celebrimbor or Narvi would be the logical guesses, in situation B) Gandalf of course.

then they would sya "i foudn them" and i would reply "how coudl you find coconuts here! thsi is a temparte zone, coconuts are tropical" then he woudl say "the Swallow migrates yet they are not strangers here" then i would reply "are you suggesting that coconuts migrate? or Swallows carries them here" and he woudl say "they coudl grip it by the husk" then i would reply "it doesn't matter where it grips it, its a matter of air speed velocity, a 5 once Swallow coudl not carry a one pound coconut!" then someone else will coem in and say "what if it was an african swallow" and i woudl sya "an african swallow maybe, but not a european swallow" and then the other guy will leave and someone else will come syaing what if two swallows hold it together with a branch or something"

07-15-2003, 03:44 PM

Finwe
07-15-2003, 03:46 PM
Celegorm, Curufin, and Caranthir. I have a feeling that it was actually a dying Celegorm who killed Dior, but it would have also been Curufin, I'm not sure.
Yavanna228
07-15-2003, 03:48 PM
In the Silmarillion it just says that he was slain by a joint effort of the sons of Feanor. It does, however, say that Celegorm was the one who mustered the others to the attack. So, I'm not sure how to be more specific.
Peace
Beren87
07-15-2003, 07:04 PM
Yavanna, it is said that Dior killed Celegorm, Curufin, and Caranthir before he was slain, so it is generally assumed they were the main attackers. smilies/wink.gif Your turn Finwe.
