The Only Real Estel

Well, Sleepy Ranger seems to be a huge fan of cricket :).

Beren87

Estel has much flattered me by putting me in her location.

She also has an insane infatuation with a certain Cap'n. (Hint: NOT Crunch)

Nilpaurion Felagund

He thinks TOREstel is female. :D :p

Some people say he's quite good at the Quiz Room, and even sharper at the Quotes Room. I don't know. I've only bumped into him a few times (Quiz Room, at Palantir of Fortune.)

Beren87

^ Has quite thoroughly shown how tired I am. =P

^ will turn 18 in 6 days.

Nilpaurion Felagund is fond of, nay, likes, nay, I'd say loves to play with his lego. His birthday will reach us in few days, that is, on September 16, when he will turn 18 and be his own man :). The one to follow is an assumption: he must be a bit lazy or a bit busy, or both. Why? Because he retains his homepage on geocities (http://www.geocities.com/louis_martian), despite slowliness and load of inherent mistakes and prohibitions this host is renowned for - the thing yours truly is engaged into as well, due to mentioned reasons of laziness and busyness.

Beren87, contrary to the implication of his profile's 'join date' field, has been around as far back as Ezboard times (which were left by BD in September, 2001). His screenname back than was HegemonMatt, the one he came to cordially dislike. He is interested in Osanwe-Kenta, I wonder what should we read in his mind if we were able to? ;) His current screenname comes by mixing his favourite hero's name up with his birth year, i.e. 1987.

Lady Gamgee
09-10-2004, 09:37 AM
HerenIstarion lives in Georgia and is a banker. He has so many interests, that they won't fit in the profile, or is just too many to type out. He is 2 yrs. and 10 months younger than me, as I was born in '76. According to the description, he has shown the "wisdom of Gandalf", which is a very high compliment.

...(did I do this right?, lol, leave it to a "newbie" :p )

Encaitare
09-10-2004, 03:44 PM
Lady Gamgee is a Scorpio, but in Chinese astrology she's a Dragon. She, like my dad, digs NASCAR, and unlike my dad, gardening and baking.

Feanor of the Peredhil
09-10-2004, 05:09 PM
Encai and I seem to be kindred spirits. She has remarkable parents who instilled such large amounts of conscience into her that she can't lie to them. She is a dinosaur fan, a Straight Edge, and has no issues with being corrected. Encai wants to be a music teacher some day and is a fellow Monty Python fan.

Encaitare posts a lot (6.35 posts per day).

She used to have a crush on Orlando Bloom, but now swoons over Book Legolas.

She's also a flutist and plans to become a music educator.

Whoops, I guess that was a cross-post. I'll do both of you:

Feanor of the Peredhil really, really hated A Separate Peace when she had to read it in school, so much that she blocked its title out of her memory!

Gil-Galad
09-10-2004, 08:12 PM
Tar-Ancalime is not widely know around the Downs but she is very friendly and enjoys some poetry once and awhile...

Saraphim
09-10-2004, 11:24 PM
Gil-Galad is a very avid fan of Trogdor and (most likely) all of the Homestar Runner gang.

He enjoys long walks on the beach and burninating the countryside, and has a very interesting web site.

Alright, I made up that beach part. :o ( <----how does that smiley represent "embarrassment?" I just don't see it...)

InklingElf
09-10-2004, 11:56 PM
Saraphim's username is most presumably derived from 'Seraphim' and which she changed into 'Sara' cleverly.

She has morphed into a Moogle.

The Only Real Estel
09-11-2004, 01:42 PM
He/She is 13 ( I'm guessing she, & now I'm hoping I didn't just make a fool out of myself by guessing 'she' ), &, ideally, InklingElf's lotr character would be a Numenorian.

'Her'? 'She'? 'infatuation with a certain Cap'n'? I must admit I am now scarred for life!

Guinevere
09-11-2004, 02:30 PM
I'll have a go at this too!

Well, judging from the above post, The Only Real Estel must be male :D
(people with female sounding nicks are always female, wheras with male nicknames you never can tell. ;) and with some names I have no idea and keep wondering if that person is a he or a she for quite a long time! )

What else have I found out? Estel is from Kansas and plays basketball. He's interested in what other BDers look like. And he posts mostly in the movies section.

Firefoot
09-11-2004, 02:53 PM
Guinevere lives in Switzerland and enjoys reading, nature, and sailing. She can play the piano and celebrates her birthday on January 10th. She frequents the QQ and is quite good at it.

Sleepy Ranger

Firefoot likes football and plays it too. She plays defender for her school team I think.

Imladris

Sleepy Ranger believes that Vampires exist. He also plays football (soccer).

Well they do.
PS- Doesn't my location make you do a 'double take'?

Next person do Imladris not me.

Pyroclastic
09-11-2004, 09:02 PM
Imaldris is a die hard RPGer and kicks but at it, really throwing enthusiam into descriptions. A worthless post would not be in her nature. She is also a fan of classic film, namely Bill and Ted. In addition to that she is insanely jealous of the fact that every year I get to dress up as the Harry Potter character of my choice for the annual HP Party at the library. (I'm just teasing you there Imladris, don't put a hit out on my reputation, I beg you!)

Ha ha ha, the next post will be ALL ABOUT ME! (I hope.)

Pyro: sorry for shattering your dream but I really need to respond to this quickly. Please forgive me!

He/She is 13 ( I'm guessing she, & now I'm hoping I didn't just make a fool out of myself by guessing 'she' )

Isn't it amazing how you can post about the same thing on different topics (i.e.,the trouble with identifying gender) and still people will almost always refer to the most minute of posts?

Dear Estel.

I am.

A She.

But.....

I am 15

Pyro: I'm going out on a limb here and guess you're a boy.
So, Pyroclastic thinks that people at his university act like a bit like orcs, which explains his location. His former signature was "Not all those who wander are lost, but I sure am", which he thought was perfectly suitable for him. His Zodiac sign is Piesces. His interests include some stuff I never heard of before: Logrolling and Boom Running. :D

Nilpaurion Felagund

I spell her name "Evissë", after an incident in the Palantir of Fortune thread. At first, she loved it, but then she asked me to stop.

She is seen everywhere in the Downs, but frequents the Quiz Room and the Quotable Quotes forum. She loves Nightwish and The X-files.

Gil-Galad

Nil is a constant poster that started in the Quiz Room (under my guidance? heh) and takes Finrod Felagund as her father

The Only Real Estel

Gil-Galad likes hockey, pictures Mark 12_30 as a small, buff guy, & does a little weight-lifting.

Elennar Starfire
09-16-2004, 06:51 PM
TOR Estel is quite a PotC fan, and was irritated by not being able to get hold of the DVD for quite a while.

Encaitare

Elennar's favorite movie (aside from LotR) is Pirates of the Caribbean, and in her mind Helms Deep is made of red bricks.

Imladris
09-17-2004, 09:54 PM
Encaitare is a rabid Grima fan and her avatar was unofficially nominated as the most creepy one. I also believe that she said it was the picture of a tarot card of death...

(I can post again because H-I said that every ten posts would be just to the T)...

Sleepy Ranger
09-18-2004, 05:51 AM
Imladris is obseesed by the Malfoys and has written a theory (arguable) to prove that the Malfoys are the good guys. She also has a large collection of Potter pictures and thinks she isn't fat. :p ;)

Niluial
09-18-2004, 07:56 AM
Sleepy Ranger is a hairdresser at heart seeing he likes to change his hairstyle every five minutes. He rolls out of bed *nods* and sleeps a lot. He also has ideas of taking over the world. OO, we could take it over together ;).

HerenIstarion
09-18-2004, 03:16 PM
Niluial is unordinary (http://www.niluial.unordinary.net/index2.php?page=home.php). She knows it herself, and is not afraid to let others know too, which is a feat worth commending for.

She likes, or even loves coffee, drummers and cats. Her real name is Brittany, and she lives in South Africa.

I have a feeling she must be believing there is such a thing as fate, and nothing happening around is by accident. Which means, of course, that if this in not so, the last few senteces happened by mere accident :)

She has a beautiful voice, and she uses it accordingly - she sings. Nil split up with a rock band for it was harming her voice.

Lush
09-18-2004, 04:04 PM
Heren writes poetry. Reads my blog. Knows Russian. Reads Bulgakov. The Master and Margarita in particular, from what I know. ;) Da?

The Only Real Estel
09-18-2004, 08:57 PM
Lush is a Dukie, thinks that geeks have the best life, thinks we should have some sort of religon forum (with burra moderating), and wishes she was half as funny as Dave Barry. Though she also suspects that he wishes he was half as hot as her :p...

Lhunardawen
09-19-2004, 01:14 AM
Judging from his location and sig, Estel does not like the movie version of "The Village". Is it really that bad?

Anyway, he is 16, and he joined the Downs on April 11 of 2003. He claims to be the only BDer from Kansas, and posts at an average of 2.6 per day.

If I may say so, I think he is something like the lone One Ring from a collection of Sauron's discount rings. So how many Estels are there, really? :D

Niluial
09-21-2004, 10:32 AM
Judging from Lhunardawen’s location she likes the shores of Alqualondë and has a thing for some mystery guy (who happens to be hidden behind a sheepish grin!). She likes to confuse herself and likes to laugh a lot until her sides hurt (somewhat like me). And by the looks of it she enjoys Artemis Fowl. Lhunardawen’s also has similar stories to Eowyn… very interesting! I would love to hear one of them (via PM if possible) as I am a sucker for stories. :P

Gil-Galad

He predicts (or predicted, once he changes it) that the monkeys that were hosts for the Ebola virus were also responsible for Macarena (according to his prediction # 4).

He has two brothers and a sister. He happens to be the youngest of them all - siblings, that is.

Niluial (or, the original Nil): Lhunardawen's mystery guy is Ereinion *braces self for horrible sister-induced trauma* but fears to put the name there because it might be misunderstood.

Nilpaurion's Profile biography is a quote from Moliere. and I feel Ishould recognise the lady in his Avatar... butI don't :D

Sleepy Ranger
09-22-2004, 01:12 PM
Mithalwen happens to like Hugo Weaving more than Hugh Jackman and she stalks them apparently and as logic suggests she finds men whose names start with 'Hug' to be very attractive. She is a good cook, according to herself and happens to like ice-cream.

The Only Real Estel
09-22-2004, 01:43 PM
Sleepy started out his BD 'career' mostly in quiz threads, thinks I would never say that Van Helsing was a bad movie, has brownish hair & is pretty much never asleep. He also likes a lot of the same movies that I like...

Feanor of the Peredhil
09-22-2004, 02:08 PM
TOREstel likes to have the last word in an arguement, and when he doesn't have a come back, he entertains the notion of asking his adversary to pronounce 'Montreuil-sur-Mer'. Estel is the self-proclaimed shnazzily-dressed head of the Elvish Mafia, and carries a bat with him, for whacking loose-lipped "friends". He used to wear braces, but it rather happy for the loss of them, and is dirty-blondish in hair color.

The Only Real Estel

Actually, I think Morsul said that about me :D.

Fea is considered "punk" by some, and she recently put orange streaks in her hair. She was born at 4:20 PM. Her parents trust her because she's a pretty responsible individual. And as some of us have come to know, her location is much more serious than it sounds. So I hope everything's alright, Fea!

If I remember correctly, wasn't Lhunardwen's mystery man Denethor? I think it used to say "...with Deneth-- *sheepish grin*." But I could be wrong. And H-I has resorted to putting the link in his signature to attract others to this thread... Let's get some more people in here!

tar-ancalime died on April tenth, and her birthday is the same day as my best friend's.

She has a lovely poem as her signature, and I'm wondering if it is an original piece of work. I would not be surprised if it was, since tar-ancalime has some very nice posts under her belt.

HerenIstarion
09-26-2004, 01:18 AM
Imladris likes Harry Potter. It may be obvious and it was already mentioned, I know. But there is one thing to add - that green ghastly guy of her new avatar is definitely not a phoenix. That'd be Snape, potion master of Hogwarts (movie version). I suppose, just like me, she likes him? For he is not a bad fella, no, Sir. Only in the first book one may be mislead into thinking so, but not after. And when one learns about hardships of his school years, one feels warmer towards him, yes. Her personal title may refer to some hidden healing powers she is in possession of, or may be merely an expression of her fondness towards that legendary (or rather mythical?) bird. Fawks must be to blame, for phoenix as described by the 'ancients' (who always are wiser then mere 'old people') is far less sympathetic.

Lhunardawen is, like yours truly, myopic :). It is seen in her current signature too; The Nearsighted Elves Society's Keeper of the Last Homemade Lens. I would qualify for said society, if only I were an elf, of course. She dislikes her school, but may I be so bold as to suppose that her ranting discourses on the subject bear in themselves a bit of exeggeration sometimes - that is, not all is so bad there, and one may find herself amused and entertained on occassions, and even educated at times? Lhunardawen is somehow shy to start new threads of her own, and prefers to participate in already existing ones. I suppose that is groundless fear, and she would be well off if only she were to become 'thread-starter'

cheers

Lhunardawen

Funny you should do me, HerenIstarion. I was merely commenting on the previous posts. But since I was off-topic, I'll be on-topic now.

HerenIstarion is multilingual. He speaks a total of five languages (if I'm not mistaken), English included. This he uses so fluently that you would think it is his native tongue. He has recently celebrated his deathday (September 24) and will celebrate his 27th birthday on January 21 (which is 17 days after I celebrate my 16th, if I may say so :) ). He is the fourth highest-ranking member in terms of the reps, fifth in posts, and has been around for four years already. He has created a lot of interesting threads, this one included. Despite all these, he remains a friendly and accomodating Barrowdowner.

Oh, and he likes us Downers to put reasons for editing our posts. I shall try to comply with your whim, sir. :)

tar-ancalime
09-26-2004, 05:22 AM
Saraphim, it's Yeats, from "The Lake Isle of Innisfree" (my location). The lines in my signature are the last three lines of the poem. I will have to edit my signature to credit him--it won't do at all for me to go around posing as a dead Irish poet. But good heavens, you made my day by even suggesting I could have written that! My own poetry...well, let's just say it's best kept under wraps.

(Do Lhunardawen next.)

Fingolfin II
09-26-2004, 05:43 AM
Lhunardawen is Nil's sister. She joined the Downs in 2003 and like Heren said, she's pretty shy when it comes to starting threads. Also, I always think that there's something deeper behind that sheepish grin of hers and wonder who it is that she fancies- Olwe or one of his sons perhaps?

The Saucepan Man
09-26-2004, 05:47 AM
Fingolfin II mainly frequents the Quiz and Quotes rooms, where he is one of the regulars. Lately, however, he has branched out into the other fora and participates regularly in the Chapter-by-Chapter discussion (unlike me  ).

His avatar is the emblem of the Australian football side that he supports (although it looks more like a pair of pants to me :p :D ).

Gil-Galad

Orominuialwen
09-28-2004, 12:52 PM
Elennar is a moderator on the Golden Ring Marathon (http://goldenring.proboards26.com/). She is a mental triplet of Luthien_Tinuviel and Morgul Queen. She does Irish dancing, and has been known to whack people with her jig shoes. ;) She lives in Utah. She has the same birthday as my mom, November 23rd. :D She loves everything Scottish, especially kilts.

Oddwen
09-28-2004, 06:01 PM
Orominuialwen used to have a pug dog as her avvie, and she also did a hilarious parody of "The Word" in the LotR characters and Beatle Songs (http://forum.barrowdowns.com/showthread.php?t=5234), changing it of course, to "The Wave!" :D

Firefoot
09-28-2004, 08:38 PM
Oddwen celebrates her birthday on the 21st of December and is the ingenious inventor of Boromir the Disco King. (Thanks to you I will never see the wave without thinking of Boromir - I am forever in your debt. :D ;) )

Nilpaurion Felagund
09-30-2004, 02:03 AM
She (yes, she) kelebrated her birthday two days ago (September 28).

In her profile, she summed in essence our death in the Downs:
I used to have a life - but then I found the Barrow-downs. (Firefoot)
Such eloquence! Does that not touch your hearts?

Oh, and she's the third most prolific poster in the Downs right now, after Morsul and Perks.

Post-graduate. Mithalwen, the lady in my avvie is Augusta Ada Byron, Countess of Lovelace. While studying for some contest comcerning computers I came across her picture and said, "Well . . . "

. . . actually, I have no idea what I thought. But she does make a great avatar. :)

Eomer of the Rohirrim
09-30-2004, 05:24 AM
Nilpaurion Felagund is one of those people with a genuinely off-the-wall sense of humour. For the doubters who say that off-the-wall humour does not work over mediums such as the internet, just get them to read one of Nil's posts, particularly the Mirth ones. He is a laugh-inducing so-and-so.

He is also a staunch defender of one of Tolkien's most vilified good guys, Finarfin, and I must say I rallied to his point of view in that debate.

As for me Heren, I'm sorry it's taking me so long to post on your mighty thread. I was scared to do so, but it's alright now. And I like how you advertised your thread in your signature. Did you steal that idea from me? ;)

HerenIstarion
09-30-2004, 06:00 AM
Personal address re: What advertisement are you talking about? ;) I just proclaim the right of all human beings to have their clothing untouched by scoundrels intending to take their lives. The people to utter the battlecry were more in the right to announce it, though, as they merely had no trousers at all, in the first place.

Back to topic, though:

Eomer of the Rohirrim has a very interesting biography, as he was a member of travelling band in his youth, playing a guitar in Peru, than took a turn of his career to become gold-prospector of dubious legal grounds and was forced (probably as he set up his companions?) to flee to his current place of residence - Kokiri Forest, Scotland, where he engages himself in training a huge badger army with the purpose of (yes, you've got it) conquering the world. Ok, if not conquering, than for a quick bite and slash at the very least.

[editorial note = it seems that majority of our members born in 80s intend to conquer the world. Don't believe me? take a look at some dozen profiles falling under the category. Must be the bad influence of Disco music in tender years. Also, it seems, we are saved from such a fate by the sheer number of would-be conquerors - possibly, they fight between themselves when we don't see them. But woe on us all when one proves the mightiest! = end of editorial note]

Well, taking over the world is the right and proper job for a merciless man to quote Skeletor in his signature. I hope though that badgers may prove more soft at the core, being closer to Nature than their pirate leader...

All of this was a warning for the world - it will not be unsuspecting any more!
But whatever his evil plans, his presence on the thread may be counted as auspicious, since the new faces are always welcome and there is nothing to fear. (For one backed by so many badgers least of all ;)). I may even be daring to say that his appearence was one of the things to make me go 'ooh' (http://69.51.5.41/showthread.php?t=9392)

As for the facthood, all I may add up is that Eomer was born on March 7, 1984, which makes him 18 years of age and fir for having a driving license. I can not tell whether he has one, though.

************************
edit:

Silly me, of course it's 20! Sorry. Now I know that you do not have driving license. (Neither have I)

I love the effort you put into that Heren! But I must say that you should check up on your sums regarding my age. ;) And no, I do not have a driving license. I have nothing but contempt for cars and everything to do with them.

I was of course referring to your (now old) signature. Anywho, it is time for someone to reply to you again. How many times is that now? The thread has been going for 8 pages (congratulations) so I estimate about 13 times.

HerenIstarion once attempted (or at least intended) to translate The Hobbit into Georgian. He was born in 1978, exactly 5 months and 11 days before I was born. He is curious about such things as whether Barrow-Downers try to project their own personalities online, and what we mean when we use smilies. He also likes to know why people edit their posts. I suspect that he wouldn't mind being known as the Wizengamot as well as all five Istari.

One of the first-born, tar-ancalime has superb taste in poetry, a fabulous location, a heightened awareness of the decline of magic in Middle-Earth and an expectation of finding umbrellas in Edoras. An older relative is famous for submitting a paper written entirely in Tengwar. Fond of Merry, nevertheless tar-ancalime left his pursuit to Aragorn after the theft of The Two Towers.

Gil-Galad
10-03-2004, 10:50 AM
Though not as well known on the Downs (at least to me) with a 0.46 posting and this informative bio

The undisputed queen of the quotations (see website, for those of you who happen to understand Norwegian), also my class's nerd number one. likes memorizing useless information and beating my mates at quizzes. supposedly, my sense of humour is wierd

Eomer of the Rohirrim
10-03-2004, 12:30 PM
Gil-galad is a zany member of the Downs. Don't believe me? Then just investigate his unhealthy (as I deem it) fascination with that certain Dragon (and no, it's not Glaurung). For a fairly new member on the site his post count is extremely fertile (is that the right word?), yet he is no stranger to mischief. He once incurred the wrath of the Wight by posting that rather bizarre challenge to Morsul the Dark once upon a time. O mighty Elf! What were you thinking? ;)

Yet he is clever. And he also considers himself worthy of screaming hordes of fangirls for some reason. Yet there is perhaps room for only one poster-boy on the Downs. Is Gil-galad that boy?

Elennar Starfire

Eomer lives in Scotland, has worn a kilt, and is probably the most-stalked 'Downer ever. (Unless Orlando Bloom is here and we don't know it ;) )

Her real name is Alice, and she is one of the funniest people on the Downs. If I say one more thing, she might suspect I'm stalking her.

Ummm . . . you just said it in public.

Oh. My bad.

Eomer otR, you really shouldn't say things like that to him. His ego grows quite exponentially when he hears compliments like that.

Hush, Adam! He said "off-the-wall."

So, NF, we meet again :)

It'd be a short one, as I'm running short of data - what haven't been said about you before?

Well, it was said but I'm as good as reminding you, that NF's real name is Louis Ortal, though he frequently names himself Adam. Work it out for yourself, I failed to see the grounds for such a shift ;)

Besides, he likes to joke about things he holds the most dear and most important, and in this respect he is more alike to hobbits than elves, sonship of one of whom he claims, as is observed by the choice of his screenname

He's already turned 18, if my poor math abilities do not mislead me in adding up 14 and 4 and getting a result. Recently, he made a quick decision to redesign his webpage and now probably regrets it a bit, as he lacks time to do it properly due to study and other affairs IRL

Lhunardawen
11-01-2004, 03:52 AM
I should have known you would be the one resuscitating the thread. :)

Anyways, Adam is my brother's alter-ego.

To get back on-topic...I don't think there's any more I can say...hmm...HerenIstarion has not been around too much lately (as I have). I wonder why? He's busy, he says.

Oh, and he is the top rep giver in the forum! Talk about generous, considering how much points he can give... :)

Lhuna is a high school senior with some issues pertaining to her vision. She enjoys mental exercise, as deftly illustrated my her interests, which include thinking until she is confused, reading, writing, and having an all out good time. Lhuna is some 2 years younger than me, which rather confuses me, as I am one of the "youngins" in my own senior class, having started school just weeks after I hit age 5. Kudos to either the brains involved, or the differences that locations bring. ;) She is a far more active member than I on the Chapter-by-Chapter (http://forum.barrowdowns.com/forumdisplay.php?f=41) project, which I regret, but due to time constraints, it's just not possible to do more than skim it occasionally.

And her real name is Laura.

Eomer of the Rohirrim
11-03-2004, 03:24 PM
Imladris is an upstart, a trouble-maker, and is also very clever. She finds time to hunt down disturbing avatars (or is that just me?) and is also one of the Downers most confused by others of being of the opposite gender (possibly because Elrond was Lord of Imladris?).

She also apparently has a substantial interest in the Sea. :)

Carnimírië
11-03-2004, 04:41 PM
Eomer of the Rohirrim is interested in the study of Wargs, asserts that the time spent brushing your teeth is a good time for deep thought, and is a very stalked Barrow Downer. And he lives in Scotland.

The Saucepan Man
11-03-2004, 05:52 PM
Carnimírië has been a member of the forum for nearly 5 months. She will be 15 in 19 days time and will apparently be celebrating her birthday on the heights of Dorthonion.

She rides occasionally and like to browse the forum, where she has become a very adept player in the Quotable Quotes room. :)

(I'm assuming that she's a she from the nick.)

The Saucepan Man, otherwise known as our renowned clatter-er, is a swell fellow from England where he enjoys reading, playing with his two younger Saucepans (yes, I've seen your picture with them ;) ). He is an incredible quizzer, not to mention very knowledgeable of random facts outside Middle Earth as well. He's one of the best leaders I've ever seen and moderates his forums like, well, a saucepan :) ...PanMan's also an incredible writer and probably owes it to the fact (like many of us) that he's very well read, especially of our dear old Professor.

Nilpaurion Felagund, although he hasn't just copied her sig forever, has certainly maintained his current avatar for somewhere near forever! He once played a character in the Green Dragon Inn for quite some time about four months back - a sketch artist who drew with charcoal.

Ok, I have nothing...most of the facts about you are already here!

the phantom
11-16-2004, 02:36 PM
Aman has more time than I do (that's why you've never seen me at the Green Dragon Inn), she earned some points from Fea for recognizing a Gary Jules song ("Ghosts", I believe), and she has an orange aura.

Feanor of the Peredhil
11-16-2004, 06:33 PM
Oh dear... this is too fun.

The phantom has an exceptional fondness for a local burger joint. He assures me that we New Yorker's are missing out for lack of it. He is a sports enthusiast who keeps fit and trim by playing more of them than I ever had any inclination to do. His hometown of Omaha, Nebraska boasts a fine history of quickly picking up on the latest fashion trends.

I know I should wait my turn but this is just way too easy.... :p

Fea hates running "with a passion", but likes rollerblading.
She likes the Detroit Redwings and geology (and her brothers, but she wouldn't be caught dead actually saying it).
She's a horrid guitar player.
She wants to ride through the desert on a horse with no name before she dies.
She wears watermelon lip gloss.
She ate meatballs, stubbed her toe, and wore expensive black pants today.

The Only Real Estel
11-18-2004, 04:59 PM
the phantom: A Nebraskan (Omaha to be exact) who idolizes Tom Osbourne, but would always stop to help a Kansan like me change a flat tire...unless he had a game to catch. None of us can deny that he actually looks like his avatar, & I believe he must be the 'man in black' that vandilized the football stadium in Manhattan :p.

Eomer of the Rohirrim
11-19-2004, 09:46 AM
Estel is a young man who lives in America (not too vague I hope?). He is highly entertained by sports (reminds me of myself when I was his age) and seems to be a healthy, chirpy kinda guy. There is one famous point of contention among Estel enthusiasts however, namely his appearance. He is surely an enigma, a mystery, almost ghost-like (well, at least for the people who don't want to hunt down a pic!) and is notoriously cryptic when responding to the guesses as to his style and pinache (is that a word? it is now).

Currently I am working on the theory that he has a wooden leg (gauged from several clues on other threads). He will deny this but we should not take this too seriously because the other important thing about Estel is that he is a compulsive liar. ;)

A little something of both, I guess. ;)
She is a far more active member than I on the Chapter-by-Chapter project, which I regret, but due to time constraints, it's just not possible to do more than skim it occasionally.
Ditto.

Anyways...
Eomer of the Rohirrim is something like the Lush of the male gender. He has an inclination towards wargs and wargriders, and makes everyone wonder what sort of magic he performs. Now that he has changed his siggie, maybe not anymore. (Thank goodness! :) )

Lhunardawen apparently enjoys the GooGoo Dolls, judging by her location. She also has a birthday just nine days before my own (Jan. 4, Jan. 13), since having it pointed out that she was a non-thread-starter the lovely lady Lhun has started three threads, two in the Books and one in the Movies. Judging by this fact, it seems she may be easily guilt tripped by HI ;).

This is Sophia the Thunder Mistress' second visit to this here thread

Her real name is Sara, she has just turned 22, and she's back to the Downs after quite a long break (And she was missed!). Sara stands for princess, whilst Sophia may be translated as wise one. And wisdom-lover she truly is, for she was away and busy with her education - that is, philosophy (love of wisdom).

While studying, she probably listened to Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Grand Funk Railroad and the like, for she defines her preferences in music as 'classic rock'

I can not state it ias fact, but, I believe, her view is that humanity is already past the summit of its cultural development, and now moves downward. Whether there is a chance of reversing the process, remains to be seen yet.

Else, she contributed (several times too!) to the development of the BD fora from her own pocket and now has the honorific of Protector of Cardolan. In the thread of fame for Barrow Benefactors (http://69.51.5.41/showthread.php?t=4668) however, esteemed BW omitted starting capital S for her name, so she's ophia the Thunder Mistress there ;).

She likes shopping, but dreads the process as well - for she's a sure 'big spender' - going out with the purpose of purchasing one concrete item, she's likely to come home with some other things she never intended to buy at all from the start, but which took her fancy in the process :D

I will stand corrected for any blunders and mistakes :)

cheers

Goodness, you do your research well. Just one note:

While studying, she probably listened to Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Grand Funk Railroad and the like, for she defines her preferences in music as 'classic rock'

Thinlomien will very shortly be celebrating his/her 15th birthday. Madness is claimed, though the sceptics have their doubts, as they are, of course, wont to. ;)

Thinlomien is from Finland, so probably pays homage to Rigobert Song of Cameroon, who on two separate occasions has earned the title 'Saviour of Finland'. Once for ridding the country of Kenny Stamps the Food Stamp Man, who was overcharging Finns for all their groceries; and once for building a Great Wall of pigs around the coast of Finland to protect the country from a great flood. Added to this, Thinlomien is well-versed in all matters of Finnish culture.

Also likes...is it racoons? Or some other furry creature in your avatar. :)

Feanor of the Peredhil
02-18-2005, 01:29 PM
Eomer of the Rohirrim is an incredibly funny (as well as smart) Scottish laddy with an extremely large fan following on the Barrowdowns. It is common belief that he travels with a large man named Biff, but the exact job of Biff is unknown (he may be Eomer's keeper, or his pen-man). Eomer is a riot in Crazy Captions, and can be stubborn in a charming way.

Sophia the Thunder Mistress
02-18-2005, 01:52 PM
Feanor of the Peredhil "has a lovely brain" according to her common associate and partner in crime on the 'Screen Name Quiz' thread: the phantom. Commonly called Fea, she is 17 years old, and from New York the state, I think not the city. ;) She bites her lip while trying to decipher puzzles and stalks the White Horse Inn thread (or was it the Green Dragon?). It is rumored that she may have drawn her own avatar, which is lovely. She qualifies for the (someone gender inappropriate) title "King of the World Barrowdowner" and shows a dispropotrionate interest in the personal life of Biff.

02-18-2005, 03:24 PM
Sophia has been a member of the Downs for almost two years, and has recently returned after a fairly long absence. She posts in a variety of places and can be noted for her skill in Quiz Room games. She lives in Indiana (used to live in Maine, I think), presumably somewhere between Indianapolis and Chicago since these were the two locations she said she would be able to attend when there was going to be a meeting of Midwestern Downers. She first read LotR when she was about 12. Her PT is one of my all-time favorites.

My own conjecture: she is familiar with Veggie Tales. (based on the line she used in the "How Do You Imagine Other BD'ers?" thread: "Couldn't be more wronger." I used to know all the lines to that movie...)

Gil-Galad is one of the ringleaders of what I refer to as the 'Barrow-downs Comedy Troupe.' (Also including such august members as Eomer of the Rohirrim and Feanor of the Peredhil) His posts can usually be found in any 'Middle-Earth Mirth' thread, and practically garuantee a chuckle. Besides this, 'Gil' is quite intelligent, and makes leaps of logic in the Quiz rooms that defy the imagination.

Wilwa is the creator of the thread depicting the life and times of Elmerf, the [in]famous hare of Legolas, whose hair color is still unknown. The Phantom is awesome. You can apply to his biography (http://69.51.5.41/member.php?u=748) for details ;) Apart from data provided in the biography, I may add that his real name is Philip

Besides being awesome, he will turn 23 in less than two months (just after his membership of the BarrowDowns strikes three years). TP takes after burra (I won’t bet he does it consciously, but their posts are reminiscent of each other in my mind), though not in brevity, but in uncompromisingness of his writing. He’s sure to retain the grip of common sense and reality, even if all other participants of the thread seem to spread wings and fly away to the realm of slightly insane reverie. Such activities as described TP thinks silly.

Now we move to partially known facts:

He likes sports, but whether taking part in some exercise or competitive activities himself or watching others doing so, I was unable to find out. He also likes music, but what kind of and whether playing or listening, remains unknown as well. I may utter a guess that he likes classical composers, as the term ‘concert hall haunter’ is the self-description on his own part, but I can not be 100% sure about it. He studies himself, and teaches others as well. What are the subjects exactly – another white spot in my file on him

Edit:

Just found the linking dots in his siggy (usually witty signatures he's famous for). It brought me to his page, I may now provide additional info/modify previously made guesses:

The first word he ever uttered was (you think you guess right in saying "mama"! Nope!) "Bombadil"! I suppose his parents liked Tolkien as much as he now does, and read him LoTR until he learned to read it for himself. Is it surprising he's here among us? :D. The only weird thing being, the word was uttered when he was one day old only.

He likes to be the smartest person around, unless his own father happens to be present. (I may guess he has a great respect for his father from this). This inclination surfaced even when he was at the first grade, where he was famous for making funny comments on teachers' discourses

Music - my guess above happens to be partially right:

"Modern- The Phantom of the Opera, Ben Folds, Everclear, most anything by John Williams, quite a bit by Barry, Zimmer, Arnold, and Horner-- Classical- Dvorak, Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi, Grieg, Bach, Ravel"

Sports are football, tennis, basketball, racquetball, baseball, hockey, but whether watching or playing remains unclear as it was before

My evaluation of the 'grip on reality' may have been also right, as "over-emotional/irrational people" are among folks he dislikes. (Others to make it for a 'black list' are rude people)

"Quotation to live by: The downside of being better than everyone else is that people tend to assume you're pretentious." makes a good pairing for his siggy's "The Phantom posted, the thread is now important" :)

Other interesting details about TP may be found: http://www.freewebs.com/phantombarrowdowns/profilesurveys.htm

I repost the link as it is already made public by the fact it exists.

How in the world do you continually do those exhaustive researches, HI?

Anyways...

HerenIstarion, a.k.a. "George from Georgia" is widely and wildly known for resurrecting oooold threads (where you'll usually find his ooooold posts), initiating sweeping parties, starting great threads (like this one), creating sensible posts (that cause his being mobbed by fangirls), and going all ho-ho-ho last Christmas. (He even gave me a Christmas gift...no, two! Sorry, George, but I haven't even started reading them yet. They were deeply appreciated, though. :) ) He, as Sophia said, has guilt-tripped me into thread-starting...but not quite enough. *evil grin* He is totally fun to talk to (or PM with, in this case). I remember that my first time to personally "converse" with him was sometime almost last year, when he first PMed me to ask about the movie Troy, which I mentioned in a post that I have already watched. Then in return I asked him about Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code, which he has mentioned somewhere that he has already read. Memories...

He got engaged recently, which partly explains the decrease in his Downs activity earlier this year, not to mention those extremely heart-wrenching, distant wails we hear. ;)

end note: I tried to add some links, HI, but laziness got the better of me. So did posting's "rule of three." *sheepish grin*

Imladris is the more responsible of the two Barrow-downs fan fiction forum (http://forum.barrowdowns.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi) moderators. :p She agrees with J.R.R. Tolkien that the emblems of real-world religion have no place in fantasy. She has mysteriously disappeared from the Barrow-downs Xanga ring, but used to be an avid blogger.

Son of Numenor is hard to find info about... either that or I just don't know how to look.
Son of Numenor had dislikes about the film adaptations of LOTR, including the "dumbed down" Voice of Saruman sequence. I'm also guessing, by the above post, that Son of Numenor enjoys reading fan fiction.

Tigerlily has recently taken on the incredible task of recreating Alka's Barrowdowner's Picture Page. Of the three people whose pictures she has, I am one. ;)

She is interested in comics, art, and history, among other things, which means that the two of us would probably get along famously. My curiosity begs me to ask, does she like X-Men and what of Grail lore? She is an actress who recently tried out for a role in TLotR Musical, and I certainly hope she gets the part and breaks a leg. Not necessarily her own, but certainly one or two.

Her website, a prettily done creation, is a member of The Eowyn Webring, which presumably (correct me if I'm wrong) means that our fair lady is a fan of the shielf-maiden.

She either owns, or desires to own, a clock-tower to hide away in. She said so to the phantom once. She took riding lessons, and would have liked to be a Rider in the Films. She also loves the sea.

Well done... and to answer your question, yes I am a huge X-Men fan. Another online alias I have is "psyknife," though I know nothing of Grail lore.
I do not remember saying that about a clock tower! *giggle* Where'd you find that?

Well, from above post I'm guessing that Fea is a big fan of X-Men and Grail lore :) Can I take a guess at your fav X-Men character? I'm gonna guess Rogue, because she's a fav of many... but guess number two would be Phoenix.
Fea has, as she says, sent me her piccie for the Down gallery... and she is quite gorgeous! Such pretty... as you will all see once I get that site up. Hmmm... to relate to X-Men, she kind of reminds me of Shadowcat.

I believe Feanor of the Peredhil is to be done since Tigerlilly Gamgee and Encataire were just responding. Here goes...
She is just 17 years old and yet already has vast knowledge of Tolkien's work. In fact, she had to teach her fellow students and 2 teachers the appendices for a creative class, (I hope that went well).
Her reputaion has earned her a place at Elrond's council. Her official goal is to buckle a swash (I love that), and according to her interests, she is in favor of spreading education, paranoia, and her own world domination.
I have enjoyed learning about Feanor of the Peredhil, and I hope I have done her justice.

Sorry HI...I am fully aware of the rule, but I was driven by the need to give this thread the ol' mouth-to-mouth. Not to mention a few chest pumps.

Holbytlass just turned two! Two years dead, I mean. She was originally Hobbitlass, who is supposedly four years dead already, but that account was sent into the Void (haha). That must have been terrible, having to start all over again when you're already up there (so to speak).

Anyways, she wants to be on Survivor, considers homemaking an occupation (and a noble one, at that :) ), hates ketchup on peas, and is apparently a huge, huge fan of families. Oh, and she's famous for making babies and climbing trees barefoot. Says so herself.

Hope to see more of you here in the Downs, Holbytlass! (And what a lovely Downs name you have!) :)

The Only Real Estel is awesome. He was famously the most difficult customer to pin down in the 'How do you imagine?' thread. I myself tried (and failed) to pin down his identity around a dozen times. All I really managed to gauge was that he does not chew tobacco (nor baccy).

He enjoys his politics, is always up for a friendly debate with someone who shares different views (unlike one Downer I once encountered). He loves his popular music. His calling card is his trademark signature style, which is both clever and funny. And he has a history of brilliant avatars, Wario being arguably the best.

O, and he's American. And he has never travelled beyond the planet Jupiter. Not even once.

Eomer of the Rohirrim is a swashbuckling pirate. He drinks a fearsome amount of tea.

Though he claims to be a Scotsman, he does not own any bagpipes. I'm not quite sure how this works.

Eomer had many good points to his personality. One of these is his original sense of humour which often reduces those around him to hysterics. He is also intelligent, and likes Snoopy. Women enjoy tales of his accent and kilt.

Despite all these positive attributes, his continuing inability to commercialise his fanclub belies his lack of skill in business and finances.

TGWBS enjoys turning into a werewolf so he can taste (http://forum.barrowdowns.com/showthread.php?t=12015) the various races from Middle-Earth. He has a strikingly bizarre sense of humor, yet tends to avoid direct conflict. Ghandi is his idol.

He's not really that short, but assumes a diminuative stature to hide his store of endless knowledge, which he pulls out here and there with immense results.

Also he prefers the taste of Elf over Orc. :D

Gurthang is 19, and has been 19 for the best part of last week and litlle into current one, as his birthday was on July 7

He’s been around for two years, joining the Downs in August 2003, but, according to his signature, still remembers the time when he was unaware of the forum

Unlike many, he’s not afraid of starting threads. His first ever thread – Is it ALL gone? (http://69.51.5.41/showthread.php?t=2317) happened in The Books as early as on the tenth day of his membership

He likes discussing controversial issues and paradoxes, making good PR-titles for threads like Sauron should have won (http://69.51.5.41/showthread.php?t=1102) and LoTR and Wheel of Time (http://69.51.5.41/showthread.php?t=1868)

He started 23 threads so far, and yours truly participated in one of them: The Gift of Speech (http://69.51.5.41/showthread.php?t=11406)
His main hunting grounds are The Books and The Movies, though he also likes having a little fun in Mirth and drops by Novices and Newcomers from time to time as well

His posts tended to be informative or seeking information from the start - i.e. What happened? When happened? How happened? Now his interest seems to switch towards evaluation and theory as of 'Why happened? According to what and what philosophical/theological model?'

He has a developed sense of justice, urging him, per instance, to post in defense of Peter Jackson who, he feels, is snapped at more than is necessary and who have done quite a job in making LoTR into a movie

Gurthang does not have a homepage, unless we count the piece of paper (http://69.51.5.41/member.php?u=2190) he sits on to serve the purpose

His screenname translates as Iron of Death, and is the name given by Turin to sword Anglachel forged anew for him in Nargothrond.

Heren Istarion is newly-wed! He and his very lovely wife, Tina, took a trip to Paris for their church wedding after having previously wed in a civil ceremony in their home country (no, not a US state!) of Georgia. He has induced her to join as a new member, called Mrs. Istarion, quite appropriately, and introduced her to us. Now we eagerly await more pictures of the big event and hope she'll feel at home with us soon, so that the Downs will not separate them, but give them yet another common interest to share!

Gil-Galad is an interesting fellow. He posts very frequently, having averaged over three posts a day during his two and a half years on the Downs. He does prefer to respond to rather than start threads, although he has begun thirty or so of his own. Many of them can be found in the Quiz Room. His most popular include Of Gondorians and Rohirrim... (http://forum.barrowdowns.com/showthread.php?t=3887), The Topic Game (http://forum.barrowdowns.com/showthread.php?t=10507), and odd item out (http://forum.barrowdowns.com/showthread.php?t=4094). His greatest was The Topic Game (http://forum.barrowdowns.com/showthread.php?t=10507), which has garnered more than 1,000 responses.

His main haunting grounds are the Quiz Room and Middle-earth Mirth, although he does visit The Barrowdowns and Novices and Newcomers. He's even been seen in The Books and The Movies a few times. He has a good sense of humor, which he uses regularly, but his sort of funny often goes unappreciated.

He likes computer gaming and LotR and enjoys a tasty dwarf when he gets hungry, according to his Biography. I would also guess that he likes Star Wars from his jedi-ish e-mail address.

Gurthang. Well let's see. His name is Gurthang, & Gurthang means him. He has a habit of posting thought-provoking posts & threads in The Books especially; having earned the distinction of being the starter of such popular threads as The source of Dragons, The Gift of Speech, Elves and Ringwraiths, & Entwife Hide-and-Seek. His good sense of humor has gotten him the majority of his reps from Crazy Captions.

Speaking of reps, Gurthang has risen to eight boxes (three of them a shiny shade of green) & is welcome in Aragorn's Court despite only having time to make 340 posts (so far) since joining the downs in August of 2003.

He is a Christian, has graduated from that blasted institution that is high school & works as a slave laborer at a convenience store (correct me if I'm wrong).

But most importantly it seems that she enjoys playing video games. :D

Mormegil, commonly known as Morm, is a well-liked member who has earned quite the reputation for himself in just 3 1/2 months since he joined. He posts most frequently in the Palantir of Fortune, Crazy Captions, and Werewolf threads, though he also posts fairly often in other Mirth threads, the Quiz Room, and in the Barrow-Downs, as well as a few in N&N and the Books. His favorite character is Turin, though his favorite hobbit is decidedly Sam (not Bilbo, whom he calls "a senile old coot").

Morm dislikes incorrectness of speech (such as the use of double negatives), racism, black licorice, busy work, and British spellings.

He is in his upper 20's and has a wife and young daughter, both of whom are included in his picture on the picture page. He is quite tall, 6'5". He lives in Utah and apparently likes video games.

Despite having been named after a horse and displaying a horse avatar for quite a while, Firefoot is not actually a horse.

She is a centaur.

And don't let her name fool you. Her feet are not on fire. The "foot" part of her name represents her great speed (she once ran in the Kentucky Derby), and "Fire" represents her extreme hotness.

She posts a lot- 7.35 posts a day as of right now. That's a bit much if you ask me, but everyone has a fault or two.

Well...except ;) ...

Firefoot enjoys playing in games of Werewolf here on the Downs, though not so much now that I am not playing. She is extremely excited about my return.

She is also extremely thoughtful- she sent me a lovely pm on my birthday (which some of you forgot to do!).

Overall, Firefoot is a top notch young lady.

...err...young centauress...I guess...

Feanor of the Peredhil
08-02-2005, 06:45 PM
Le Fantome has recently been out of town on vacation, much to the eternal dismay of his fanclub, who even more recently purchased him a place of advertisement in Dancing Spawn's signature. He responded positively upon his return.

Though he promised to throw a particularly interesting (read: lovely ;)) fellow 'Downer a graduation shindig on the Dinner Parties thread, he fell through with this and she was sad.

His ego is reportedly the size of a small planet which vastly outstrips Gil-Galad's which is simply visable from space. This made Gil-Galad (TTM) sad.

His presence has been reportedly missed on WW threads, and he is well known for his talent at procuring mischief there and other places. His absence due to vacation made many... sad.

He is a sportsman (though dear lord not soccer) and takes some rather nice photos of the places he has seen.

He dares not journey (read: vacation) to the East, for that is where lies Mordor. And the blue states.

He suggests that many of us shall rue not following his requests.

Feanor of the Peredhil is just about 18 years old. According to her profile, her birthdate is fifteen days hence. She recently graduated from High School- an event that she presumably awaited with great eagerness.

Fea is most associated on the 'Downs with the Phantom, and the rumours continually recur that they are an item- a fact that is constantly being denied due to practical reasons like 1000 mile distances between. Fea has also been known to state that if relationships at home don't work out, how would one spread that far apart.

From that, it would appear that we may surmise that Fea has thus far been unsuccessful in love- although we may hope that that will prove otherwise in the future ("we" does not include the Phantom, of course). Fea is certainly, from her posts, a very intelligent young lady, and (from her pic in Tigerlily's gallery) a very pretty one.

Now. Someone has to try and figure ME out. :smokin:

We nailed him, yess. In the 'How do you imagine other BDers' thread, Formendhacil ;) (a.k.a. Michael A. Joosten) is revealed to be a homebody, a bookworm, and an not-so-athletic guy who wears glasses. This Canadian (from Olds, Alberta) is but 18 (born on February 12, 1987), yet his disposition and intelligence are beyond his age.

He decided to take the plunge and join a reputable Tolkien fan group (assuming he refers to our beloved Downs) January 7 of this year. Merely almost 7 months dead, he has already scaled the heights of the reputation system and now sits on high Taniquetil, showing himself to be a real Tolkien freak that he claims to be. Recently he has joined Eomer & Co. in showing their appreciation for the Wargs and their Riders, adding yet another item in his well-stocked profile - as a specialist in the field of First and Second Age Warg History.

On a more serious note, he mentioned in the Books thread 'And it slips through our fingers' that he is a Type 1 diabetic. It is certainly a wonderful thing that he is still around, and a member of this forum at that. Speaking of the Books, he has taken on the form of a Devil's Advocate quite several times in discussions.

Oh, and he has disproved my assumption that my brother Nilp is the only teenager in the world who still plays with Lego. You will see an admirable exhibit of Middle Earth rendered in Lego, if you will click this link (http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=100683).

Next person up, you may commence with figuring out Lhunardawen

Orominuialwen
08-03-2005, 11:55 AM
Lhunardawen is a self-professed Lhunatic, and she has played this role in several Werewolf games. She lives in the Philippines and is the younger sister of Nilpaurion Felagund. Many people have trouble with her name (possibly becase of the h?), which means "blue earth woman." She is a biology major and was born on January 4th, 1989. She says she would be the strangest member of her family, if it weren't for Nilp, and so has to take second place. Despite the mental image that many people (myself included) have of her, she looks nothing like Eowyn.

Orominuialwen is a sweet young lass who celebrates her birthday in September. She has wonderfully curly hobbit-like hair and "creepy" is the last adjective you could use to describe her - unless you play Werewolf with her.

Oromin is a very musical girl with a huge amout of hobbies including playing several instruments and fencing.

She has made her and her brother's avatars by herself. On the basis of the great avvies you could presume that she's quite talented with computers.

Oromin is walking to Rivendell and she has already passed Abandoned robbers den which is good since it isn't a very nice place to stay long. But in the wilderness she has also another way to defend herself against enemies than by using a sword: she can scream and apparently very loudly. According to Oromin's Live Journal (http://www.livejournal.com/users/orominuialwen/) she won a Howard Dean screaming contest in July! Congratulations, we are very proud of you!

Dancing spawn is a Finn, and a far more attractive one than I, until reasonably recently, realised and gave her credit for. She lives in a perilous land full of snow and ice, though it is quite likely she has access to central heating, which renders this bearable.

In her profile, the spawnéd one claims to like lightning, thunder, music and drawing. She also claims to have been affected by the Chenobyl disaster.

As well as her interests listed above, she has a perfectly healthy obsession with the werewolf games. Who doesn't?

Spawn joined BD in 2003, yet has only managed circa 700 posts, less than one a day. Almost everybody will demand that she appear more often. More, I say!

Despite her relatively low post count (compared to her residence, anyway) she is very reputable (29th, actually, and dogging me). Her reputation will continue to rise as admiring hordes throng her, for she has a very good sense of humour and spends much time in Mirth (which she will doubtless remember as Mayhem, as it wall called in the Days of its Youth. Ah, sweet reminiscences.).

Spawn also likes the Movies, most of the threads she has created dwell therein.

Dancing Spawn has recently been the subject of much envy among the Quenya learners, for being a Finn, she should (and claims she does) find pronunciation and grammatical forms in Quenya easy. She is paired with Lhunardawen in the Quenya Club (Ooh, we're a club now, how select :D) and enjoys it very much, though she laments the absence of cookies. She does not mind my using this as an opportunity to recruit new learners, and certainly doesn't disapprove of subliminal messaging. ;)

Finally, she often rents her signature. I'm not sure what the going price is, but if anything needs advertising, she's your girl.

TGWBS.

The stunted one has had more than a few avatars, recently switching his Mary Poppins related Ghandi avatar out for his newest one.

He is a frequent werewolf player (frequent enough that he has decided to sit out the newest one) & he's been a wolf at least once.

He started a project to learn Quenya on the Downs.

He is referred to as "the stunted one" & is intelligent. He has MSN messanger, but doesn't appreciated unknown guests suprising him with unexpected PMs.
Dec. 30, 89

Reading, writing, poetry, Tolkien, politics, Western history, computer games, Downs, & languages are also some of his favorites (I'll admit I copied that last sentence almost entirely out of his profile :o).

The most recent example to me of TGWBS knack for the intelligent was when he coined the phrase 'Cobwolves' to refer to two certain WW players with one word instead of having to write out Cobbler & Werewolf.

He's bound for the straight road...for now, & he's a great BDer.

His real name is Aragorn.

No, it isn't. It's Chris.

Right. Well, he was born March 1, 2931 . . .

Where are you getting these things?! His birthdate is February, 25, 1988!

I think he's confused. He's referring to the real Aragorn.

Ummm . . . yes.

Die! Just die! You have no brains at all!

Adam, that's not a nice thing to say.

I'll take over before you get it all wrong again.

~*~This is where it really begins~*~

Estel (or Chris) is 17 years old. He joined the dead wights on April 11, 2003. He is from Kansas. He enjoys quite a number of sports: basketball, basketball, football, and basketball--oh, wait. Basketball was repeated thrice. That might mean something.

There's a song stuck in his head right now (as his biography says): This is How a Heart Breaks by Rob Thomas.

He's the third top poster in the famous Crazy Captions (http://forum.barrowdowns.com/showthread.php?t=10727) thread. I dare say his humour is quite excellent. Better than my host, at the very least.

(Skipping TGWBS, as he was just clarifying.)

*Ahem*

Nilpaurion Felagund.

Nilpaurion, affectionately called Nilp by his friends on the Downs, has just turned 19 (an excellant age :D ) as of yesterday. He's been on the Downs for nearly two and a half years. In that time he has posted 3,333 (last I checked) and has become the 12th most reputed member on the Barrowdowns.

He has been involved in the Werewolf games, I believe the first few times just to see himself get lynchd. More recently in WWIX, he decided to try to survive rather than get himself killed and took part as a Shirrif.

From what I've seen, he's got a rather interesting case of split personality. Adam and Lucy(I think; could be wrong) are two of his alteregos. They sometimes surface together and provide very entertaining discussions. One of which may be found two posts up.

Nilp has started a few threads in his day, Gamling's Book of Middle Earth Records and Familial Ties (with no shoelaces!) to name the most popular. He stays mostly in Middle-Earth Fun and Games, but does travel to The Barrowdowns on occassion and has been known to look into The Books every once in a while.

He's got a very good mind about him (despite it being divided at times ;) ). He likes to use humor quite a bit, especially in Crazy Captions, and seems to like short, to-the-point posts rather than lengthy explainations. Oh, and Nilp also intends to use a copied signature forever.

Gurthang is a 19 year old as of July and he's been dead for about 2 years and 1 month if my math is correct. He is the most reputed moember among the G's and is the 27th most reputed member out of all. Within that amount of time he's posted about 536 times and has started 28 different threads.

He's participated in the WW games and was the first Werebear. In that time he got 6 villagers and 1 chicken.

He's an active participant in the Crazy Captions and other Mirth threads. He really likes to boast about the fact that he was the Werebear, not that I mind. ;)

Glirdan is a rather new member that posts alot... and i mean alot... and as stated by himself, he posts contradictive, and just because i can, here is my version of his life:

Glirdan was born into a family of sheep-herders from Dunland, though the family has a great ancestory of herding sheeps, Glirdan dared to challenge that by trying to herd trees, Glirdan could be seen after school stomping around the tree by the park yelling Haroom, his parents how ever put an end to it quite immediately.

though the herding aspect in Glirdan was still strong in the lad, so he began waking the sheep up at 2 -3 AM to talk to them about how he dreams of the big life in the spotlight, so he left his family of sheep herders and headed north, but he woke up on his first night so he went the wrong way and ended up in Dol Amroth, there he was catapulted back to Dunland, and he marched on towards Arnor, where he stumbled over a cabbage patch and fell into an empty Barrow, thus begins his life in the Barrow-Downs where he shows that hes still alive by talking and talking and talking, making The Phantom to mutter "urge to kill...rising"

while Glirdan is becoming more noticed, the WW games opens up and Glirdan decides to join them, being branded as a Beorning and dieing because of that, he continues the WW games

plus Gil-Galad rocks

Gil-Galad is almost sixteen years old, having been born on October 30th of 1989. He has been on the Downs since 2003, and posts about three times a day. His main haunts are Middle-Earth Mirth and the Quiz Room, although he does visit the other fora.

He enjoys the Lord of the Rings (obviously) and computer games. He is also a self-styled Pun-master of awesomeness. Gil-Galad also is fond of the movies Spaceballs and Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail. And he has a healthy sense of humor.

He is the ladies' man of the Downs, and has a blossoming relationship with Lily Bombadil, another Downer.

Glirdan, I hate to break it to ya, but there's one tree in all or Arda you can't heard. Me! This is because I am head of the TGWBS Beauro, or the Tree and Grouchy Willow Beauro of Shepherding! So sorry, but we're out of the green form. You'll have to fill the purple one if you would like to requesition the green, which must be cross-checked by both parties and ratified in a bicameral legislature, then approved by the MORK (Ministry of Onodrim, River-women, and Kibil-nâla). Once approved by the MORK, you will have ten days to turn in the completed form, along with the red form, which you can only get after receiving the green form (Note. The red form takes 11 days to fill out). Have a nice day!

:D I don't know much, except that Alcarillo is the former mayor in swankytown...unless there's a swannkytown in the afterlife, in which case get rid of 'former'

For having only joined in July, Alcarillo is a well-reputed member of the Downs. He posts mostly in ME Mirth and the QR, though he also posts here in the Barrow-downs and occasionally in the QQ, N&N, and Books, as well as being involved in a Shire RPG. He has enjoyed the games of Werewolf, though he is sitting this one out. His favorite hobbit is Sam.

Alcarillo was born on November 23. He lives in Seattle and likes Lemon-flavored candy, Rome, history, collecting ancient coins, and the like. Like me, he apparently has a liking for those conventionally useless languages, and is currently learning Latin and Quenya.

He is a student, was the former mayor of Swankytown (until they lynched him), and is the King of Moskovoka (wherever that is).

Firefoot is on of the "most famous" downers (=having one of the best reputations). She is a student and she likes animals, especially horses. She is a werewolf-addict and she is mostly found in Middle-Earth Fun and Games -section, especially in the quiz room.
Her birthday is 28th of September. Her hobbies are (alongside with hanging in Downs and playing WW-games) soccer, writing, reading and puzzles. She has a brother, who has just turned 14.
In the Barrow-Downs, she has posted a lot of posts and started several threads, including Werewolf VII. She is an active member and posts usually clever and/or funny posts.

A-Hem... Perky and me were a troublesome Duo, but then he died a second death, but now hes back...

Perky was an only child in a strict family, his father worked up in the mountains, whilst his mother left him at a very young age for a young aspiring Corporal Gothmog of Mordor, Perky's father became very depressed after that and Perky never saw him again.

Treebeard saw this and tried to comfort Perky, but Perky couldn't fully cope, and kicked treebeard in the shin because Treebeard accidently swatted his pet Kiwi bird over Orthanc while Treebeard was star quarterback on the Fanghorn Wildcats. Perky tried out for the team, but could not continue after he got hit in the head and started walking around "i'm an Albatross! I'm an Albatross! I'm flapping my Albatross wings, I'm flapping my Albatross wings" so the ents decided to kick Perky out and let him go as his own, that took a couple months cause Perky tried to capture Dunlendings for experiments in his den, which was invisible cause i said so.

Perky marched off towards the Anduin, saw a bird and ended up in Edoras, where he burned it, so they had to cover up the burn marks, thus the Golden Hall is born!

After being chased by the Rohirrim and with 13 and a hlaf spears in his back, he wandered up north to Tharbad and burned that too the ground too, then Perky beleived he was on fire, and he was, for 12 years Perky was on fire and thats why everything burns, Perky felt he was alone forever.

Perky then met Bob the troll, and they became good friends, always running around, playing hopscotch, drop-kicking poor curious hobbits, but one time when they were playing near the Downs, Perky accidently kicked a stone at Bob, and Bob pretended to be dead, so Perky dug a troll sized hole and put Bob in it, said his eulgy and turned away, but then Bob decided to snap out and popped up yelling 'Boo!" and pulled Perky, Perky ironically put on his jacket full of pointy object and Bob died, Perky then had a sudden heart attack and the ent was no more and lives now in the downs.

cheers

Gil-Galad is the 'Downer that everybody knows of and secretly (or not so secretly) is in love with. :p There is strong affection for his punnery and his Trogdor avatars. lets see....

Wilwa was an enchanting girl in Valinor, born into a famous family (her father invented Make-Up that makes your eyebrows like Elronds) and was sought by all the hot-blooded male elves of the Undying Lands. Her mother wanted her to wed a Prince so she can gossip about how her daughter married a prince!!! Her father was never home though, always looking for new make-up ingrediants.

Wilwa never wanted any of this fame though, she wanted to be special in her own way, so she went through a multitude of jobs, being that crazy squrriel lady, to Ciggarette Butt cleaner, to Valinor Idol and so on and so forth. she heard news of the great battles that has been going on outside of valinor, of the great and handsome Gil-Galad and how she wanted him so bad.

One day, she visited Varda and asked her if she could go visit Middle Earth, Varda said 'No you crazy squirrel lady now leave me alone or i shall taunt you a second time!'(ha! varda is a french soldier!) so Wilwa used her wits and called varda a Witch and burned her at the stake for witchcraft, thus the fall of the Undying Lands begin as everyone accuses everyone of witchcraft. Seeing this, Wilwa still wanted to meet the brave Sir Galahad, i mean Gil-Galad, so she was walking through the forest and stumbled over Irmo that was hiding there, she said that if he turns her into a small flying insect, that she won't accuse him for witchcraft, Irmo did this, turning her into a Mosquito, but Wilwa was mad, took some blood from someone, and described where Irmo was hiding, what he has been doing, her encounter and a 24 page story-book for the kiddies(that someone was Mormegil and he is now dead through lack of blood - :P ).

After Irmo was captured and burned at the stake, he turned Wilwa into a Butterfly and Wilwa flew over the sea, she was amazed at Middle Earth that she did not see the stone, flew right into it and fell down into a miniture Barrow designed for some weird guys bugs... and thus began her life ath the downs, the magical Butterfly that can type!!!

Ah, yes, Gil. The beloved (and self-named!) Punmaster of the 'Downs. Never know quite what to expect from Gil, since he's just as capable of making an astute Books post as he is of confusing the heck out of everyone in a Werewolf game. Just about everyone wants to see him as a Werewolf again, just because people never know what to think of him.

For more real info, he's 58th by reputation, his birthday was about a month ago (making him 16), and he's made 3200+ posts since he died.

Gurthang is from Ellinwood, Kansas, which is a small town in the middle of the state. He goes to Kansas State University, better known as K-State, which is in the Little Apple (Manhattan, KS) and is also my mom's alma mater. Gurthang is 19 and his birthday is July 7th. Judging by his former signature and current location, he enjoys playing video games and prefers Gamecube to X-Box. He has the greatest number of posts on the Arrows 'nd Bows thread, which tells me he likes making anagrams. He also prefers clear soda over Coke/Pepsi and likes Mountain Dew best of all.

Cailín
11-23-2005, 05:15 PM
Let’s see if I can do this...

Gurthang likes werewolves, video games, starting intelligent new threads and eating chickens, innocents and wolves alike . He dislikes homework, and can appreciate neither coke nor pepsi. Recently, he has been using quotes from other Downers as his signature, which is probably the reason why the entire Downs population is constantly trying to make witty, intelligent and memorable one-liners.

Gurthang’s werewolf obsession is alarmingly obvious. Not only has he never quite gotten over his Bear-experience, he also intends to pick up girls by using WW references. Lately, he has posted that he has become a highly suspicious being, which possibly explains his camera fear and urge to hide in what looks like a cornfield.

His birthday is in July, he is currently 19, and he is now ranked 23rd in the members list. He failed to fill out the Barrow Confessional, though, which makes him much more mysterious than some.

Edit: Oi, sorry Orominuialwen, I again forgot to check for cross-posting... :o

So here for Oro:

Orominuialwen has about the hardest name to spell correctly on the entire Downs. She is a fan of Celtic things, which is why I'm convinced she’s very nice. I believe she’s quite into music and arts and all other pleasant things. She looks very Hobbit-like, according to herself, and I suppose that must be true then. She hates being mistaken for much older than she really is, but I’m not sure just how old she is, because she chose not to reveal that in her profile. She says she lives in The Pit of Oblivion, but we all know she really lives in that wonderful place called the Shire. ;)

He spends most of his time in Mirth but is seen often in others such as quotes and books. He hasn's posted much personal information so I can't get that on him but something interesting is he probably has the shortest post on this thread :D .

He is interested in WW and played in the latest WWJ game.

Rune Son of Bjarne

Mormegil joined the downs in april this year and has an impressive 7.77 post per day. He is 28 years old, lives in Utah with his wife and child, the last he has allredy startet indoctrinating in to loving the world of Tolkien. Mormegil has allso lived out side Rio for some years.

Thts about what I remember. . .

HerenIstarion
11-26-2005, 07:01 AM
Rune Son of Bjarne is twenty, he's been around little bit more than two months but already achieved place at Elrond's Council (kudos!) and his per day posting average is little less impressive than what Mormegil may boast of - 6.96, one of the highest averages I'm aware of (Morsul the Dark held the highest of 12 odd per day, though his average dropped since, but that's another story...)

Rune is interested in Norse Mythology (http://69.51.5.41/showthread.php?t=12391), also (I reckon consequently) in dragon-slaying, especially dragon-slayings historical, dubious, and mythical (http://69.51.5.41/showthread.php?t=12245), and the various sorts of stabs and jabs and undercuts. Though his favourite character is not one of the dragon-slayers, but Fingolfin the High King of the Noldor. But here is the one who challenged more dangerous foe than fiercest of dragons may have ever been - Morgoth himself...

Rune lives in Copenhagen, Denmark. He likes Tolkien (bingo! but you've already known that...), Music and Football (European type of, for those across the pond that'd be Soccer) and collects coins. I would not be surprised to learn he likes Royal Hunt (www.royalhunt.com ), seeing as it is a Danish band and Mythology lovers tend to lend their ears to good old hard rock music, and probably owns a Thomas Sorensen (http://uk.sports.yahoo.com/20112005/8/photo/sunderland-s-thomas-sorensen.html) poster, but both last two are mere assumptions, educated guesswork, so to say, I would stand corrected if my shooting went wild here.

He would study history in University (and he is good at remembering historical facts). Besides, he is a believer in socialism ideology and its values and will try to apply knowledge obtained in University to achive some practical results in the field or maybe writhe theoretical works about the subject (seeing as he has Karl Marx (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Marx) for an avatar and quotes him in his signature: 'Catch a man a fish, and you can sell it to him. Teach a man to fish, and you ruin a wonderful business opportunity' - lest he changes it and the exact one is forgotten :D) Consequently, Rune likes his beer in the evening with political debate for a taste.

What else? His name means 'secret lore', and such a lore he has all chances of learning hanging with us around these here fora. His father's name stands for 'bear' (old Norse - Bjorn - Danish - Bjarne), hence in Common Tongue here we have Secret Knowledge Son of Bear. Not a bad choice of a name, I daresay. Also, I assume, if we were to live in M-E, Beorning he would be, no doubt :D. But that is what I assume following his father's name, he himself would better like to live in (order of preference):

1) Hithlum
2) Rohan and Gondolin
3) Lothlórien

And, as I've started with BD, let me finish with it: the place he visits the most is the Quiz Room, and the people he knows the best around here are Sleepy Ranger, Valesse and the guy who be short

Anguirel

Heren Istarion is a figure of contention and mystery. Among others, he has been identified as:

five separate personalities forming an Order of Wizards
The Necromancer of Threadwood
A large, ever-sparkling orange firework
and
King George the Fourth of Georgia

Certainly, there is no doubt he possesses deeply magical powers. Despite his exotic origins in Valinor/somewhere in the East/Rasghobel/Isengard/Georgia, his mastery of the tongue of the Angles and Saxons far surpasses that of any of us prosaic inhabitants of "Tol Eressea", and is distinguished for its fluency, originality, yea, and usefulness too. Obscure Latinate constructions that we mere Britons have long forgotten find a haven in the Heren English Dictionary (it's well known that the HED outstripped the OED back in the Third Age...)

He is known to be the most generous inhabitant of the Downs, and is a prodigious rep-pourer, though some sources have him down as sending the occasional mischievous anonymous rep...

In the Seventh Age, Heren Istarion took a wife of mysterious beauty, who is captured in a picture where her face slips away. Mrs Istarion is registered, rumour has it, to the Downs, though she is quite self-effacing. Reactions to the news of the union caused various lines of speculation along these terms:

"Ask her to study Heren and tell us everything she finds out about the Blue Wizards!"

But presumably the discreet Mrs Istarion is sworn to secrecy on such topics.

Finally, Heren is one of the greatest romanciers of our time. Listen to his description of the birth of Aranarth:

Third party may lawfully knock holes in both theories, indicating the whole story as mere typo on Tolkien's part. But I prefer to dream romance behind it, masked Arvedui climbing the walls and swimming over Anduin to (not to lose sight of the title) kiss his beloved, that kind of thing. And little Aranarth being as much a cause for the wedding as political necessity may have been. Things tend to be hushed up in higher up circles, yer honour. Having in mind marriage customs, though, every union is automatically 'in wedlock', so 1940 T.A. may be viewed as the year of 'official rituals', confirming the fact.

Anguirel is a well-known Downer from Oxford, England. Astonishingly to many posters on the "How do you imagine other BDers" thread, he is but 16 years of age. This came as a shocking revelation to the vast majority of us who believed him to be 20-30.

An avid werewolf player, Anguirel is currently preparing to mod the latest incarnation of the game and has listed it as his strangest habit in the Barrow Confessional. He is also a fan of the Sons of Feanor, going so far as to rehabiliate the worse behaved members of the clan in his Silmarillion Survivor.

Finally, Anguirel is a member of the Barrow-Downs Procrastination Society.

Celuien of Philadelphia joined the Downs May 1 of last year. According to the BD name generator when she used her RL name, she is the Dancing Huorn (but right now I'm having visions of her together with Rimbaud :D). She is 21, turning 22 this March 17.

She is sorely missed (at least by me) in the Werewolf games; she had already participated in IV as an ordo, X again as an ordo, and XIII as the Ranger. Right now she is engrossed with Assigned to Mordor, which, I believe, is her first RPG. (But if we're going to trust her location, she's on vacation, far from her computer).

Finally, Celuien is another member of the Downs Procrastinators' Society. ;)

Eomer of the Rohirrim

Lhunardawen hails from the Philippines. She is an acclaimed University genius despite her tender teen-age. She is just about to turn seventeen in a couple of days and I wish her a very happy birthday. :)

I started talking to her when she caught me in a net and engaged me in theological discussion. As I recall, the argument descended into Let's-agree-to-disagree (she might have other thoughts on that, and I thought my Loch Ness Monster analogy had her head spinning) but it started a beautiful friendship.

She claims that she has had heart-attacks but this is a lie. Lhuna is actually very healthy, never eats junk food, goes for regular 14-mile swims and can jump higher than 7 feet into the air.

She was the victim of my worst act of treachery in Werwolf VII, where she was murdered at my request. She has never forgiven me for this and I don't blame her. She will never be a Werewolf (a proper werewolf) because she's too sweet.

And she's lovely. That's the essential Lhunardawen.

The Grand Eomer of the Rohirrim, our local Scotsmen, perhaps even Stewart of Albany? we shall never know with him, his tale brings us to fighting Pirates and saving gnomes from trees that attack because of meatball sub shortages.

but enough of my crazy stories, i bring you the tale of Sir Eomer of Rohirrim

NARRATOR: The Tale of Sir Eomer.... So each of the knights
went their separate ways. Sir Eomer rode north, through the dark
forest of Ewing, accompanied by his favorite minstrels.
MINSTREL (singing):
Bravely bold Sir Eomer, rode forth from Rohan.
He was not afraid to die, o Brave Sir Eomer.
He was not at all afraid to be killed in nasty ways.
Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Eomer!
He was not in the least bit scared to be mashed into a pulp,
Or to have his eyes gouged out, and his elbows broken.
To have his kneecaps split, and his body burned away,
And his limbs all hacked and mangled, brave Sir Eomer!
His head smashed in and his heart cut out,
And his liver removed and his bowels unplugged,
And his nostrils raped and his bottom burned off,
EOMER: That's -- that's, uh, that's enough music for now, lads.
Looks like there's dirty work afoot

ALL HEADS: Halt! Who art thou?
MINSTREL (singing): He is brave Sir Eomer, brave Sir Eomer, who--
EOMER: Shut up! Um, n-n-nobody really, I'm j-just um, just
passing through.
ALL HEADS: What do you want?
MINSTREL (singing): To fight, and--
EOMER: Shut up! Um, oo, n-nothing, nothing really -- I, uh,
j-j-ust to um, just to p-pass through good Sir knight.
ALL HEADS: I'm afraid not!
EOMER: Ah. W-well, actually I am a Knight of the Round Table.
ALL HEADS: You're a Knight of the Round Table?
EOMER: I am.
LEFT HEAD: In that case I shall have to kill you.
MIDDLE HEAD: Shall I?
RIGHT HEAD: Oh, I don't think so.
MIDDLE HEAD: Well, what do I think?
LEFT HEAD: I think kill him.
RIGHT HEAD: Well let's be nice to him.
MIDDLE HEAD: Oh shut up.
LEFT HEAD: Perhaps-
MIDDLE HEAD: And you.
LEFT HEAD: Oh quick get the sword out I want to cut his head off!
RIGHT HEAD: Oh, cut your own head off!
MIDDLE HEAD: Yes, do us all a favor!
LEFT HEAD: What?
RIGHT HEAD: Yapping on all the time.
MIDDLE HEAD: You're lucky, you're not next to him.
LEFT HEAD: What do you mean?
MIDDLE HEAD: You snore.
LEFT HEAD: Oh I don't -- anyway, you've got bad breath.
MIDDLE HEAD: Well its only because you don't brush my teeth.
RIGHT HEAD: Oh stop bitching and let's go have tea.
LEFT HEAD: All right all right all right we'll kill him first
and then have tea and biscuits.
MIDDLE HEAD: Yes.
RIGHT HEAD: Oh, not biscuits.
LEFT HEAD: All right all right not biscuits, but lets kill him
anyway.
ALL HEADS: Right!
LEFT HEAD: He's buggered off!
RIGHT HEAD: So he has, he's scarpered.
MINSTREL (singing): Brave Sir Eomer ran away
EOMER: No!
MINSTREL (singing): Bravely ran away away
EOMER: I didn't!
MINSTREL (singing): When danger reared its ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled
EOMER: No!
MINSTREL (singing): Yes Brave Sir Eomer turned about
EOMER: I didn't!
MINSTREL (singing): And gallantly he chickened out
Bravely taking to his feet
EOMER: I never did!
MINSTREL (singing): He beat a very brave retreat
EOMER: Oh, lie!
MINSTREL (singing): Bravest of the brave Sir Eomer
EOMER: I never!

Gil-Galad is best known for his insane, off-the-wall humorous comments, and created the character of Johnny the Stinky Balrog in "Fortunately/Unfortunately." He is also one of the most confusing players of Tol-in-Gaurhoth.

Kath

Meneltarmacil is a dirty, rotten liar - at least when it comes to werewolf games, of which he is an excellent player. I'm not sure how many times he's been what but as a werewolf he won and I believe he has been on the winning team as an ord too.

He is only a few months older than me at 18 (if my maths is right) and is a student, so is probably under attack from large amounts of work, as well as trying to get into university.

He wants to study paleontology, and gave some very helpful advice when I needed to choose between four dinosaurs, with information about each, so I doubt that will present too much of a problem.

Haunts the Fortunately/Unfortunately thread, creating (and defusing) some truly bizarre situations.

Ooo, Kath. :D

Well, she is 17, British, college-bound - that is - if she manages to revise for her upcoming exams and participate in the newest Werewolf game simultaneously.

She shares one of my weirdest habits (making little boats out of pieces of paper), is addicted to the Barrowdowns, television and Lord of the Rings and deeply despises her psychology teacher. She distrusts Meneltarmacil more than any other Downer - though I could not explain why - and does not look constantly exasperated, despite evidence suggesting otherwise. She is capable of writing longer PMs than yours truly, which is quite an accomplishment.

If you're interested in finding out more about her, check the What do you assign to Mordor thread, in which she posted no less than 36 psychologically responsible rants.

She was born June 20, 1985, and she is from Utrecht, the Netherlands.

Calín is a Celtic/English (with an emphasis on Old and Mediaeval English) student at a Dutch university. (I was slightly confused at first when looking for information about where she studies, because she's a well-travelled person who has stated an interest to study in quite a lot of universities all over the world. (Come to UP! :D Well, maybe it's better you don't--you might get the right impression about my country . . . )) She came across the Downs while googling for information for her Beowulf paper. She *gasp* has never read The Lord of the Rings, although she has watched the film version. When she discovered Tol-in-Gaurhoth, she was immediately addicted. So on the 29th of June, 2005, she joined the Downs under the name Cailín (which in Irish Gaelic means 'girl'), which was the first word that came to her mind. And then she joined WWIX, and continued to play in games X, XI, XII, and (the current game) XVI. She has also co-moderated WWXV, with Anguirel.

Okay, personal opinion, from playing with her, and reading some of the games she has played in, she's a devoted student of the game, having read past games to gain experience (perhaps, although she may also have read them for sheer enjoyment). She is quick to offer an insight or two, often helpful, unless she were a wolf attempting to mislead the village. ( :p )

She is one of the few members who became a Tolkien fan because of the Downs.

Random things: She had an imaginary childhood friend, a beautiful, vertically challenged girl with waist-length black hair. She had many brushes with Eomer of the Rohirrim, including his description of her (http://forum.barrowdowns.com/showpost.php?p=419751&postcount=1354), and this confirmation (http://forum.barrowdowns.com/showpost.php?p=438554&postcount=532). She was also the seer in WWXI, where she denounced Eomer as a Werewolf. And then there was another game (WWXII) where she, a werewolf, was killed by her victim, Eomer the hunter. [/my stupid attempt at matchmaking]

(Having gathered the data while I was still alive in WWXVI, it's feels creepy to 'stalk' someone you used to be playing Werewolves with . . . or probably even against.

I am suspicious, even here. ;) )

Nilpaurion Felagund

I don't know very much about Nilpaurion, except that he is from the Phillipines and his birthday is September 16, 1986. His favourite colour is blue, he wears glasses, he is lazy and a perfectionist. He has a brother (I think). That's all I know about Nilpaurion Felagund. I hope it's all correct, or I will feel like a moron.

He has a brother (I think). Nilp is a brother. He's got a sister: Lhuna.

Anyway, on to Valier!
She (I hope?!) is six years, eight months, and ten days older than myself. Her post-per-day average is a whopping 3.55. In her opinion, students are close to bums. (Really? No one ever told me that....)
Other than the fact that she's an avid WW player, I don't know much about her...and it doesn't help that I'm too lazy to research.

Thinlómien, the daughter of Ugri, is a bit crazy (http://69.51.5.41/member.php?u=4375), and turns sixteen quite soon (less than a month left :)). Besides madness, she is also strikingly beautiful ( http://www.psy-strike.com/Thinlomien.jpg)...

Her name stands either for Grey Echo, or For Grey Nightingale, or for Grey of Twilight, or maybe for all three of them, I was not sure in my analysis, but elements are all in the name. Whatever its meaning, it suits her well. As for Ugri, the term and its application tells me that maybe she feels unity not only with people of Suomi, but further on with all Ugric peoples, and maybe has long lost cousins she knows nothing about in Hungary or even in snows of Siberia…

She lives in Uusimaa district of Helsinki, Finland (http://www.frappr.com/barrowdowns), which, probably, is the same as Mejis graveyard. Not knowing if Helsinki is a proper place for Mejis burial, I, however, will utter a guess that maybe Thinlómien enjoyes Stephen King and Dark Tower series, where barony of Mejis is to be found (to the best of my knowledge)

Dark Tower being educated guess, I may now proceed to things I know for sure, precisely - Thinlómien enjoys role-playing. Per instance, she’s been noted playing M.E.R.P (that standing for Middle Earth Role Playing). Consequently, she tries herself at writing, but to what results, we are not informed yet

Else, Thinlómien enjoys drawing and hanging out with friends (and of course, Tolkien, but that is a built-in option, otherwise she would not be hanging out with us here and now ;))

She is interested in people as well as in books, or so I assume seeing her active participation in threads like Which Downer am I? (http://69.51.5.41/showthread.php?t=11954) and active welcoming of new members. She is also interested in orks (or at least in movies with them in).

Maybe (and now I’m really shooting wild) Thinlómien enjoys Nightwish (www.nightwish.com), or Norther ( http://www.norther.net/), seeing as both are Finnish bands, or maybe watches racing progress of Kimi Raikkonen (http://www.racecar.net/kimi/) intently… but here I’m not sure of my footing…

What else? I’m immensely glad to have her around here :D

Quite well, Heren. :D Mejis is the name of the current WWJ3-village, but yes it comes from Dark Tower. Graveyard is because I'm dead. I enjoy Nightwish (one of my favourite bands, so ten points!), but have no interest in Norther or Kimi Räikkönen.

HerenIstarion ia named George, I think. He was born 21 January 1978. He is unemployed according to his profile and his signature suggests he like Jesus Christ Superstar. He likes to poll people about things, like free cheese. He's from Georgia. He is very smart, too. He doesn't make useless posts like I do. Gil-Galad, or Glen as some of us know him as, is 16 and he joined three years ago on this day. He's egotistical, but not as bad as phantom ( :p ) and a ladies man. He's never made it (until this game that is) to the end of a WW game. Has a post count of 3,513 and he's currently sitting on high Taniquetil. His usual haunt (I believe) is Middle-Earth Mirth yet he also goes into Quotable Quotes and the Quiz Rooms. As for background info, let's just say he did NOT meat Sauron in battle, though he tried like heck (not litterally). :p

Glirdan - or Glirdy, if you want to make him happy - is a fifteen year old and one year dead wight from Canada, and a real life friend of our Madame Butterfly of the Numbers. He's clearly a music lover as he was more than glad to take that occupation in Werewolf XVIII, and, as his profile tells us, "does stuff normal teens wouldn't do." Hmmm... ;)

He's an extremely hyperactive guy the way I see him, and incredibly jumpy in Werewolf games - that usually gets him in trouble. Actually, a number of BDers were surprised not to find a manic glint in his RL eye, and I kind of share their sentiment. He mostly participates in Mirth threads (or maybe just because that's where I usually am nowadays  ), even moderated The Hobbit Survivor, and just quite recently entered the unexplored (for him) territory of the Green Dragon Inn.

He dared to undertake the daunting task of reminding the BDers of others' deathdays, which he understandably couldn't really do perfectly. Imagine having to go through thousands of names!

In a word (or two), he's kinda crazy. Said so himself. And I'm sure we can all attest to that. :D

Lhuna is a 17 year old Downer from the Philippines. She is a biology major and princess. According to her Live Journal, one of her alter-egos is the Endoplasmic Reticulum, and she would prefer to be the smooth ER. ;)

Wighted on 3-16-2003, she has been an active member of the Chapter by Chapter discussions and is a well-known Werewolfer. She recently proved Eomer of the Rohirrim's prophecy that she is too sweet to be a proper werewolf true by being a Loverly Werewolf in her brother Nilpaurion Felagund's game. She is also known for her sense of humor in the Mirth Forum. Lhuna is currently the 16th Downer on the Members List sorted by reputation.

Lhuna hates too easy exams, Nilp's long fingernails, gravity, headaches, show-offs, know-it-alls and 1.0 M ammonia.

She likes chocolate, hazelnut, caramel, rainbows, the number 17 and cumulus clouds. She's also a fan of Alumìne Umfuìl.

I've given it some thought. Interesting suggestion, I daresay, but I suppose it would be against the point of the thread. Aforesaid point being, 'get to know your co-boarders as the dice fall out, at random, not ones you are already familiar with by cooperating in one of the subthreads. I fear SAVES would end up in members already 'disposed' towards each other hunting each other out here. So, it's 'no, please' :) (Despite probable reviving of this somewhat dormant thread SAVES may well bring about)

There is no need to delete your post, let the digression/commentary stand as it is 'for future generations' good' ;)

Okay, about Celuien:

She and I have played in some Werewolf games together, and in one village her occupation had something to do with frogs, so she put up an avatar to reflect this. A plea: a lot of people don't seem to be putting very much effort into this. It really is a lot more fun for everyone if you try to put together something interesting and thought-out, especially for the person that you're doing. Too many people have just been doing a line or two with the very barest facts found in that user's profile or just things they already know. If you don't know very much about a person, try doing some research. You might learn some interesting things. For example, I knew next to nothing about Legolas in Spandex...

Legolas is a fairly new Downer, having joined last month. She is a highschooler who loves to draw, and is on DeviantArt. She also plays the clarinet and guitar. Her birthday is the 4th of December.

She is currently reading LotR for the first time and very recently finished FotR. She has read a little bit of the Sil. She got into LotR because of the movies, and she also has a friend who is quite into LotR. She is quite the fan of the movies and enjoys several things about them including the music, effects, and settings. Her favorite character is presumably Legolas.

She likes songs of travel and adventure.

She has posted mostly in M-E mirth, but also has several posts in the Movies, Barrow Downs, and N&N fora.

Here, dear, see if this meets with your satisfaction.

Firefoot is a high-school student, born on September 28th about 16 years ago, I think, though that is a guess, who has been a member of the 'Downs for over two years now. She is devoted to the Lutheran church she attends with her family (and some of her extended family) in the American midwest: so much so that she spent her spring break on a missions trip in New Orleans helping to clean up the city. She is athletic, and enjoys playing soccer, if not the smell of a well-used soccer gym bag.

She has a younger brother who is 14. This may be the source of her need for an outlet on the Downs (I remember when my brother was 14) and asserts that playing in RPGs such as the Eorling Mead Hall and Island of Sorrow keep her cheerful. It is certain that her eloquent and well-written additions to those threads keep the rest of us entertained.

She loves puns and puzzles--just look at her signature! She also loves horses and the Veggie Tales series. She is taking Latin, and enjoys it, which is insane. My justification for saying this is that I found it boring. Certain respected tests have advised her to date Aragorn.

She reads much more than just Tolkien, and enjoys books by Tad Williams, Robert Jordan, and Brian Jacques.

She is not fond of packaging, snow plow drivers, grammar errors from her teachers, and people who block hallways. She is a bit of a pyromaniac. Good for you!

And since this is a Tolkien site, her favorite characters are Frodo, Aragorn, Eowyn, and Feanor, and she is much less fond of Tom and Treebeard. She was first introduced to Tolkien at the age of twelve and unfortunately the disease was fatal.

Good heavens above!! Talk about some elaborate detail there on Firefoot. How on earth...?

Well, let me try.

JennyHallu is a young wife, has no kids, but hopes to someday. She is extremely observant and remembers in great detail many things that happened to her in her past, but not only does she remember stuff like that, but she also remembers the mundane, every day life stuff, which is one reason why she is a secretary (like me) in an office that is not always very busy and where she has immediate access to a computer that is not connected to the internet by dial up.

She is a very friendly young woman, merry and happy and always cheers people up around her with a smile.

Jenny is extremely smart. Don’t underestimate her brain power. (It’s either that, or she knows computers so well that they do her thinking for her, but I doubt that’s the case.)

She can draw and enjoys doing so.

She types quickly - at least 70 words per minute, but that's only when she doesn't know the content of her writing very well.

And almost the best in my opinion and maybe the last - Jenny can write excellently. Her role playing is awesome reading, and I wish she would publish a book so I could read it. She’s been writing a long time and has written, over time and in different stories, about many different sorts and types of characters.

Nope, that wasn’t the last - this one is. She loves her husband dearly and they both dote on each other as they should. They always enjoy getting home at night when work is over and they can see each other, and I’m afraid I can’t tell you if she’s any good at cooking, but if I could, I would add that she cooks them up a nice dinner at evening and they live happily ever after - until the next morning.

Folwren is, though it took me a VERY long time to be absolutely sure (I'm blaming the self-references as a "chap" and her Jack alter ego), a girl. She has long, light brown hair, and is somewhere between 16 and 18 years old. (Pure conjecture) She also has absolutely no accent.

She has a younger sister and an older brother, and will be an aunt within the usual nine-month span. She lives near a wooded area, but her family keeps horses, and has a swingset, which Foley and her siblings used to pretend was a pirate ship. She works part-time and attends school, and plays violin in ways that make men long for ear-plugs. Like Firefoot, she is a Veggie-Tales fan, which leads me to the conjecture that she is Christian.

Foley likes birds and pays close attention to signatures. She has a great deal of respect for Winston Churchill. Her favorite elf is Fingolfin, and her favorite hobbit is Sam, whom she will defend to the death if need be.

A plea: a lot of people don't seem to be putting very much effort into this. =

Gil-Galad has his name from a character discussed by Aragorn in the Fellowhship . This character was an elven king who seemed to have a very shiny shield. ;) Gil-Galad loves puns as he calls himself "Pun-master of awesomeness". He has posted in many places I have. He seems to partake in Star Wars humor as his e-mail is udonotknowthejedi@hotmail.com. His birthday is Oct.30, 1989, making him around 16 years of age. He loves computer games. He welcomes people frequently in the "Introduce Yourself column" and he is part of the "Mount Zoom Challenge."

I hope that was a good bit better. Sorry for my uninthusiasm. Nice e-mail Gil-Galad. :) Very unique.

Thank you Firefoot for voicing out what HerenIstarion would have, and everyone for heeding it. :)

I just want to remind you all that we have a ten-person rule - you can't "do" someone within ten posts following your last.

JennyHallu is not real. Or so she will make you believe if she ever introduces herself to you. It seems that for some reason or another (which she told me and I promptly forgot) she introduced herself as a Mass Hallucination.... and so that became her nickname for a while. Then it got shortened to JennyHallu which, if you ask me and I know you didn't, is much better. Or at least shorter.

She is married, so hands off all of you wraiths. She has somewhat recently moved some place away from her home town, which is a double blessing. First of all, I am sure she'll do great wherever she is (One blessing) and second, since she didn't know many people to hang out with, she decided to join the 'downs (Second blessing, this one for us)

What more can I say? She's good at writing, drawing and werewolfing... the last one being the most important skill a man (or woman) can have.

What am I forgetting? Oh, yes... once upon a time she was actually enrolled on an Engeneering program at some college or another. Yes, a woman in engeneering!!! My buddies go to Engeneering over here and they say that a woman in Engeneering is as rare as an electron not approaching the speed of light and increasing in mass as it gets closer to the atomic nucleus. I have no idea how "likely" that is, but it's probably fairly unlikely.

Surprisingly, I do not know whom her favourite LoTR character is, but I'm guessing something along the lines of Eowyn. Or is it ArwenFrodoPippinMerryAragornSamLegolasGimliBoromir FaramirTheodenDenethor.... did I miss anyone important?

You can often find her greeting newcomers on the welcome thread or writing excelent RPG posts. I believe her characters are haunting the Mead Hall on Rohan at the moment.

*takes in a deep breath* did I forget anything I wanted to say?

Why, of course... she is a very fun, lovely girl and it's always a pleasure to "talk" (or well, write) with her.

Farael, or Matias, is a 20-year-old 2nd year biochem student from Winnipeg, Canada, heading for med school. Despite his real name sounding rather Scandinavian he claims it to be Spanish as he is originally from Argentina. He started studying English at six, so now he speaks both fluent Spanish and English, lucky him. Farael joined the Downs on 24th November 2005, and he celebrates his birthday on 16th March.

Farael listens mostly to rock music from Green Day to Die Toten Hosen and The Beatles, but another band worth mentioning is The Men in Kilts, and Farael has been fortunate enough to see them live for a couple of times. As to what kind of music Farael doesn't like, Hip-Hop and Cumbia Villera definitely belong to that group.

Here at Downs you can spot Farael mostly RPGing or sharing his thoughts in the Middle-Earth Discussions forum. Farael has a great sense of humour, and he occasionally haunts in the Mirth as well. Unsurprisingly, he has some interest in WWing, too, not only as a skilled player, but he also modded a Wereorc game a while ago and invented a whole new role to it; the Shaman.

Farael doesn't like spiders. A combination of a Farael, shoe and a spider usually results in the death of one of them - thus far it has always been the spider.

Farael excels in golf (at least minigolf - he's got a hole in one!), but he couldn't care less about it, so Tiger Woods doesn't have to worry for a while now. Farael is more interested in volleyball. He likes ice hockey, too, and if you're planning to go to Winnipeg any time soon, you should probably remember the name 'Jimmy Roy' who is Farael's favourite of the local players.

Slurpee. That needs its own paragraph. As it happens, Farael lives in a city that has an honour of being not only the coldest city in the world, but also the biggest Slurpee consumer. Naturally, Farael has a tradition of deep-freezing himself with his friends by going out for a Slurpee on the coldest day possible.

Farael volunteers as a group leader to help refugee and immigrant kids to adapt for Canadian society. With his group Farael also organises and participates in free time activities with the children - whether it is sports or face painting (http://forum.barrowdowns.com/showpost.php?p=467113&postcount=640).

All in all, Farael is a fun and perceptive BDer, and it's great to have him around.

If I forgot something, you can read more in his Barrow Confessional post (http://forum.barrowdowns.com/showpost.php?p=430799&postcount=47).

Dancing Spawn of Ungoliant, aka Spawn, aka Spawnowen, aka Anna is a prominent member of the Downs, or at least everyone knows who she is. She's an adept and dangerous werewolf player, as well as being an excellent contributor to the Books forum.

In another world, Spawn is an artist and an actress. If one can use werewolf as a judge for acting, and if one looks at her personal website, her skills are top notch in both areas. She's also a musician, and she plays both the piano and the violin, and is a member in a choir. I believe she also recently passed her violin level test and music institute exam, though her dates are all kind of screwy.

Her interests outside of the above involve manga, anime, the Downs, and composing polyfocal vocal fugas in "Palestrina style", whatever that means. (Little miss uber-talented....)

She and the infamous Nilpaurian Felagund have a sordid (okay, not really) relationship, and one can see their flirtation all over the Downs. (okay, it's mostly Nilp) Maybe he should be doing this...

Her picture on the Downs photo page is incredibly lovely.

Roa_Aoife of the many names is from Ashburn, Virginia, and says that Northern Virginia rules. Other than Northern Virginia, she is fond of Ireland. In fact, she thinks that it's the best place outside of Middle-earth!

Regarding Middle-earth, Roa's favorite denizen of that place is Sam, followed by Faramir. She doesn't like Feanor or Eowyn, thinking that the latter has suicidal tendencies, is whiny, and just can't handle being a girl. If she could go to Middle-earth, she would most likely be found in Rohan. She read the LotR just before the movies came out.

On the Downs, Roa is a feared Werewolf player, and with good reason! She makes an intimidatingly good wolf, and recently put on a brilliant performance as the Evil Wizard in LMP's Dueling Wizards game. This is probably related to her ability to read people and predict their behavioral patterns, which she claims as her greatest strength.

Roa's quest is to make one life better regardless of whether or not she is recognized for it. Her favorite color is deep green. She chews her fingernails and sings along to any music she hears. She thinks the DMV is pure evil. Her most daring moment involved bungee jumping...

Roa's best Downer buddy is Fordim.

Her real name is Nichole. She was born on St. Patrick's Day--apparently, it took a while to convince her that the parades on the 17th of March was not for her birthday. :p She has three sisters.

Celuien is a fourth year medicine student, the youngest one in her class.

She likes chocolate (a lot!), frogs (a lot more!), cats (she used to have severe cat allergy, but she got cured; now has a kitten named Abby), and the colour blue. Her favourite sport is bowling. She also enjoys reading books by Thomas Hardy and (this comes as a shock to me) JRR Tolkien, playing music, doing nature walks, and programming web sites.

The Frog-maiden first came across Tolkien in a grammar book, when she was but nine years old. There was an excerpt from The Fellowship of the Ring, with punctuations removed, and she had to insert them. Then she started wondering where Mordor was, why Frodo wanted to go there, and why Sam wanted to go with him. She tried to look for the books, but her mum dissuaded her from it. Years later, one of her sisters was assigned The Hobbit as part of her book club. She hated it, but as soon as she put it down, Celuien grabbed the book and read it cover to cover. The old curiosity was renewed instantly, and when The Hobbit was dropped off at the library return desk, she left with a copy of The Fellowship of the Ring, followed shortly by The Two Towers and The Return of the King. She never turned back.

She joined the ranks of the dead on May 1, 2005--the same date as BD's birthday! :D I can't find how she stumbled upon this site. All I can discern is that she has been lurking here for years, then, during the fifth anniversary celebration of the Downs, she broke her silence (http://69.51.5.41/showthread.php?p=386716#post386716).

Lately she is fascinated by spoons. I wonder why.

Nilpaurion Felagund, or Louis Ortal, is a man of several siblings and several alter egos, the most familiar of which would be Adam, despite his recent untimely demise. The most familiar of his siblings is our own Lhunardawen.

He resides in the Philippines and is a student at the University of the Philippines, where he studies world domination and Naruto, as well as more mundane things like languages and biology. He greatly enjoys constructing Lego armies and staging battles between them with his little brothers, using accurate tactical information to determine who wins and who loses. Rumor has it that these battles are occasionally concluded in a rather unmilitant manner, all participants being ticklish.

Another of Nilp's well-known alter-egos is Uchiha Itachi, a deadly psychic warrior of the Naruto 'verse. As a dangerous criminal, Itachi is not fit for polite society. ;) Luckily, Nilp keeps him reigned in, at least some of the time. Nilp's favorite Middle-earth character is his father, Finrod Felagund, though he has not seen him in some time, having been gone from Valinor for centuries. Nilp spent a good deal of time atop the ruins of Numenor with Tar-Miriel, and the current status of their relationship is not known.

Louis is nineteen and was born on Collect Rocks day in September. He loathes procrastination and follows football and chess; his musical preferences include Coldplay and Casting Crowns and his literary ones, Tom Clancy and Sherlock Holmes. He's fond of stuffed animals, especially a stuffed seal named Patty, and not so fond of shellfish. He likes light blue.

Perhaps most well-known for his contributions in Mirth and the Quiz Room, Nilp does have an unfortunate habit of poking people; his best 'Downer buddies are Kath and dancing spawn. As well as a college student, he is also a writer of numerous stories, and a part-time employee of a secret government. If you see a man in black lurking outside your window, it's probably him.

Symestreem, or Willow Smith as she would be preferred to be called, is an interesting person. My first encounter with her was this post (http://www.forum.barrowdowns.com/showpost.php?p=471873&postcount=43) and I thoroughly enjoyed her writing style. Oddly this was her first post in about 2 years. It seems she took a brief hiatus from the downs and I gladly welcome her back.

Willow enjoys writing and symestreem was actually the last name of a character at the time of BD registration. There's a funny little story associated with her name choice that goes like this:

At the time of registration she was using 'symestreem' as one of her passwords as it was one of her characters last names, it is no longer a password so don't think about it :D . She mistakenly put 'symestreem' on the username line believing it to be the password field. She was sadly mistaken and wanted to be Willow instead so she wouldn't mind you calling her Willow.

For those who couldn't tell, it took me a while admittedly, her avatar is a roll of duct tape. An odd avatar one might think but this stems from her love of making and repairing things using this wonderful tape. Do Brits and the like have this marvelous invention I wonder? I digress. I've seen some duct tape creations myself as my Sister-in-Law is handy with the tape and has made dresses, purses, thongs and chairs with it. Similarly, Willow makes bracelets, flowers and weapons. Also, as previously stated, she repairs items ranging from shoes, to headphones to model rockets with a myriad of other items mixed in.

She's from the U.S. residing in Florida and fancies herself a conservative on most issues but decidedly against the death penalty.

Since her return to the downs she has been posting rather frequently and she mostly haunts the Quiz and Book forums but considers playing a WW game soon, which as a veteran would welcome her in whole heartedly. She has done some role playing in the past and I'm sure Pio would welcome her back if she fancied another adventure.

Notably her best downer buddies are Nilp and Lhuna, hence the rather detail description given of Nilp just prior to this post.

Finally she is a supporter of lifting the limit on the 3 smiley limit as she enjoys her smileys quite a bit. So in dedication to that I say :D :smokin: That's my only three now and I humbly request the ability to do more!

Let's get to know Willow and welcome her back into the downs.

Ah Mormegil, the lovely Barrowdowner from Utah who has a knack for werewolf games, and now i get the lovely time to describe him...hmm...

Mormegil has always had a Monkey Avatar, usually holding a Handgun, but now his Avatar is the Brazilian flag so he must be cheering for the Brazilian Soccer Team in the World Cup.

Mormegil reminds me of my Grade 9math teacher for an odd reason, probably because of his height. He is married and has a beautiful little girl.

now for the parody version:

Mormegil was born into the usual family of elven Weapons, his mother a graceful and slender Teleri Bow and his father a Sturdy Elven War-Axe. But when he was crafted everyone knew there was something about him that was different then most metals.

Mormegil was tough but he always tried to tell everyone else that he wasn't a sword and his parents weren't a Bow and an Axe. They just ignored that and thought he was kidding. Mormegil was getting upset because nobody would believe him.

One day when flames were rising from the north, everyone was wondering whats going on, many wanted to start an army and fight. Mormegil wanted to go too but nobody would take him. 'you belong to the old man down the street', who was in fact his grandfather, but Mormegil wanted to go so bad, but nobody would take him so he had to stay while everyone else got to fight. Devestated, Mormegil ran to the tallest tree overlooking the town, there he cried 'Look at me! i'm not a sword! i'm an not born of weapons! i am real!' and at that moment Mormegil fell backwards and hit the hard floor below. When the towns-people ran up and saw that he was not moving, then they realized he was in fact real because after 20 minutes of staring and poking it with a stick, someone said 'hey! swords don't bleed blood...' they mourned for his passing and he is buried in the Barrow-Downs where he resides right now at this exact moment.

Gil-Galad is a Canadian Downer and is also know under the aka's: Gil-Galadster, Gil. The Everlovable and Superwight. . . .ok some of them are more used than others.

Gil is a well known and beloved member of the downs. .. He is often seen in Mirth and once he and I ruled the quiz-room together. . .May the day soon come when we shall do so again.

Gil's bigest achivment ever, was when he was the first to greet me and helped get me addicted to the downs. He often has gamin avys. . . one of them is rememberd with great joy by me. . . what was the name troktor? something like that.

Runesky is my nemesis. I wonder if he remembers this. We share a birthday, August 18th, though he is a bit older than I.

He is knowledgable about such things as Norse mythology and what drinks ought not to be mixed.

Always up for a discussion, be it deep or silly, and spectacular as MSN foodfights and/or travel plans.

Hmm...

Feanor is one of the "older" members of BD and not well known to me. Now he (no, she! This Feanor is surely a she (http://www.psy-strike.com/Fea.jpg) and her name is Laura) writes most of her posts into "Roleplaying", but also elsewhere. She has started 12 new threads, most into "Middle-earth Mirth" or "The Books", but also one into "The Movies". One of the threads was WW VI! 2.7 posts per day is a lot of writing...

Her 19th birthday was two days ago! She teaches art. Feanor listens to good and heavy music. And most of all: Laura likes Monty Python and the Holy Grail!

Now this must be a great person!

Volo is with us since 8th of August, and I do hope that he likes it here. He's here for roleplaying and fun, being noticed in the Shire and Mirth subfora, but there is a lot of time to discover other wonderful places this board may boast of, now ain't there?

He's 15 years, or, to be more exact, 15,5 years of age (being born on February 17 of the fine year of 1991 in the fine country of Ukraine)

His real name is Volodimir (or, how I'm used to spell it, Vladimir) which may be translated as 'The one to be the master of the world' I do hope though that his ultimate goal is not taking said world over :D

As far as I'm any judge, he likes good cuisine (as I assume he dislikes fast food, than he may like its opposite, now may he not?) - since his mail address starts with a statement of dislike towards McDonalds

I would not be surprised to see him wearing info on his blood group on his own sleeve, as one of his favorite bands is Russian band under the name of Kino, 'Blood Group on My Sleeve' being one of (now my favorite) songs by these guys.

I would go further and dare to present to Volo my condolence with regards to break up of Nightwish, as that is also one of his favorite bands. Tarja will be replaced, and show will go on, and it will be a good show no doubt, but alas it will not be the same show anymore...

Else, his musical taste shows his disposition towards heavier genres of rock (and Finnish version of that too, as besides Nightwish there are bands like Norther in his fav list, per instance...)

I also suppose his linguistic skills must be good (though he more or less plans to become an architect), as I assume he must be more or less fluent in at least four - Ukrainian, Finnish, Russian and English (now the good mastery of the latter he has already shown us here). He was born in Ukraine, as I've said earlier, and almost all Ukrainians speak Russian too, now living in Helsinki he must be good at Finnish as well.

I picture him to be lithe fellow, as he's into yoga. I also assume he breaths well and possess skill of correct breathing we mere mortals are lacking in.

What else? - I hope he stays around long enough for me to collect more data and share it with you in case he visits this thread again in the future

Edit: new data found - Volo is also real-life friend of Thinlómien, and I would like to thank her for bringing in her friend to the board :)

Edit2: Just more new data: Norther is not a fav band, but can boast of several songs that qualify for favourites, and Volo not that just exactly speaks Ukrainian, but understands it. With good cuisine I was spot on - he does like Indian food

HerenIstarion also known as George Lashkhi has been a well respected member of the Barrow Downs for nearly six years. Though he is one of the longest members of the Downs, he is still young at the age of twenty-eight. Like many other Downers, Heren is highly intelligent, particularly in the works of Tolkien and has written several articles (http://www.geocities.com/gl_century/articles.html) on the subject. He speaks several languages (something I could never do) and has a tremendous resume. Heren is also one of the top reputation givers and has always been thoughtful enough to send me a birthday PM (at least during my active years).

Heren enjoys spending time in his country of Georgia reading, swimming, and playing games on his computer. Last year he was married to a lovely lady, and only months ago he became a proud father. :)

Brinniel is a new member to me, but she has been on the site a lot longer than I have. She joined the site in 2002 and recently celebrated her 4th deathday. She is 18 years old and has started 11 threads over the years, some of which did better than others. ;)

Brinniel takes part in every aspect of the forum. She posts all over the place and, from what I've seen in Crazy Captions and Fortunately/Unfortunately, has a great sense of humour. But I think I'm right in saying that her true place on here is in the RPG forums. She's been in at least three (I didn't go too far back), and from the posts I just went and looked at she's an excellent writer.

She returned to the Downs in February after a long absence which I believe was to do with school, just in time for both deathday and birthday. And, on a personal note, I love her PT!

Anyway, let's hope she doesn't have to disappear off again. :)

I know that I haven't given enough other in between my last but let's get this going again.

Kath, or Katherine if you prefer, is a delightful member of the downs and has been such since January 3rd, 2004 although there are times, mainly werewolf games, where she can simply be ghastly. Kath is 18 and will be 19 coming up on February 16. She is currently attending the University or so I believe. It is reported that she resides in Faversham, Kent, England.

Kath is most frequently seen in The Shire and Mirth threads but often frequents Quotes, specifically Palantir of Fortune, too. Kath has been a consistent poster of 2.81 posts per day average over her membership here. She is, in my opinion, most famous for her many games of werewolf played. Perhaps she is best known for her role as ranger. She also is a crafty wolf and coincidentally she and I have a rather warm and friendly rivalry in werewolf. She has proven her intellect and shrewd judgment many times over in the werewolf arena. From what I have seen of her writing she appears very well versed and well written and has always shown a maturity above her years.

Kath suffers from asthma and still leads a very active life including cheerleading and Tai Jitsu competitively and remarkably it's been over seven month since she had her last puff of ventolin; on a side note Kath I'm glad to see that my little intervention with you 8 months ago has worked :D . Also of note she was on a nebuliser about one year ago! Well done Kath.

Her favorite TV should be obvious to even the most dimwitted individual who is well versed in X-files as it is X-files remarkably. Prominently displayed on her avatar is Scully who is her favorite character along with Mulder. Her biggest draw to X-files and Scully is the wonderful character interaction between Mulder and Scully, I have to agree that it was great interaction. The true believer partnered with the skeptic, a very good show.

She's not overly picky on food but has a strong love for potato pie and winberry pie. Just don't give her any nuts as she has an allergy to them.

On a personal note Kath was one of the first downers that I considered a friend and really made me feel welcome here. Thanks for all you do Kath! You are great!

Mormegil is a 29-year old guy from Utah. He is a doctor. Morm is married and has two very cute children. Mormegil is a christian. He is a supporter of right-wing politics and could be described as a conservative. He has lived in Brazil and therefore his second favourite team in the Football World championships was Brazil. Morm can also speak Portuguese.

In the Barrow-Downs Morm is a respected and active member, (although he has been relatively silent of late. Where has he been?) Morm's work and participation were noted some time ago when he was well-earnedly made a mod for the Middle-Earth Mirth forum.
Mormegil can be a terrible opponent. :D (Ask anyone who has played werewolf or survivor with him.) In werewolf he is quite scary, a reaction-provoking (even aggressive at times) and very intelligent player. In survivor he stands behind his beliefs and supports them to the end and always gives grounds to his opinions. In a battle of wills in survivor, Mormegil usually wins.

It seems the only one who can defeat (http://forum.barrowdowns.com/showpost.php?p=503747&postcount=192) Mormegil anywhere is Alien. ;)

Lommy is getting excited about the Saturday after next, despite herself.

She has an impressive grasp of Hair lyrics and she is sorry for recently turning a close cyber-relative into a mouse.

Ps this has nothing to do with me or my avatar....

Lalaith is a non-British Londoner, a Saggitarian and a stalker. She can be quite intuitive in Werewolf - but not always ;) . She loathes smoking and can not wait for the ban.

Despite her recently acquired avatar, I happen to know that Lalaith is a polar bear (with remarkably dexterous paws for typing) but she denies this.

I'm not here much long so I don't know much about the members, but let's try.

Mith comes from England, otherwise, the RL info I know about her is pretty scarce. She joined the Downs almost three years ago, though it's not much long since she uses an avatar, about the same time as Lalaith. She chose the avatar she now has, because once she has been described to have the face of a "pre-raphaelite". Her personal title comes from one of the poems by William Yeats.

Here on the Downs she participates on many places, more or less everywhere, including RPGing. She also likes swallowing cats, though it's not her own invention (now this looks like a good base for a "which Downer am I" riddle).

From the looks of it, she just recently removed her sig, because someone turned her into a mouse...
