In case anyone hasn't seen any of the many updates online from Comic Con, here's a link to a decent report about the Hobbit panel: Hobbitcon panel (http://www.theonering.net/torwp/2012/07/14/59080-the-hobbitcon-hall-h-presentation-torn-round-up-part-one/). Also many other interesting things from San Diego are available through TORn (not to over promote a rival, but, you know...).

I'd have loved to have gone to this, though sleeping on a pavement overnight would perhaps have been something to leave to the youngsters. There were queues and turn-aways at Tolkien 2005 but nothing to the scale of the numbers who queued for this. I think I would put ten pounds on the films being a huge success.

The report doesn't mention Jackson's comments that the Tolkien Estate hates his films and there will be no Silmarillion film(s). Though the younger Tolkiens might think differently when they have potentially valuable film rights in their grasp.

Here's a video from the panel if anyone is interested. Unfortunately, it doesn't show any of the new footage that was released, but it's a pretty interesting Q&A.

I didn't know it was a spammer. The post seemed fairly pleasant! And didn't advertise any ipods. :D

Pleasant spam is the most dangerous spam! You think you're having a nice discussion with a human being and then WHAM! You're playing sudoku games... and you don't even like sudoku games! ;)

Or even worse: You find your self in a cheap hotel room, applying for jobs you are not even qualified for, only interrupted by a bit of online gaming. . . when all you wanted was to discuss the upcoming Hobbit movie (and perhaps have a sandwich).
