Now that WB is back in the game to make new adaptations of Middle-Earth, how will this affect ROP?

I am not confident enough of my prognostications to say how this will affect RoP (the answer could well be "not at all"), but I do know that I would like it to affect RoP.

Obviously, I would like it to magically result in RoP making all the creative decisions I presently feel it has flunked, which is unrealistic, but in more general terms, I do hope that it helps force RoP to define itself. A few months--and many criticisms of RoP later--I think the biggest flaw of the show is that it didn't have a discernible vision or identity. Some sense of artistic direction, maybe, but nothing that moved me beyond the aesthetics of the earliest teaser shots to "okay, THIS is what Middle-earth is about in this story."

Even if it's in reaction to a competing product, I would like to see RoP have more such definition.

I'm not sure why we should be hopeful that Warner fanfiction will be any less dire than Amazon fanfiction.

Not much.
