Gil-Galad
07-23-2004, 10:48 AM
what my guess was the best? i'ma think Barrowdowns
The Perky Ent
07-23-2004, 10:52 AM
No, it's still wrong. The first is the best!
Here's another hint. You must start at the beginning to reach the end!
Morsul the Dark
07-23-2004, 11:03 AM
i think you mean first clue is the best
Moria?
cold tall and one of my favorite quotes explains the last "This is no mine this is a tomb."
The Perky Ent
07-23-2004, 11:05 AM
You are very, very, very close...but no
Morsul the Dark
07-23-2004, 11:14 AM
more specificly the dwarrowdelf?
The Perky Ent
07-23-2004, 11:25 AM
No, it's not the name that's wrong. It's the place. But you're literally very close!
Here's a big hint: When you put pressure on both sides, the middle will shoot up.
drigel
07-23-2004, 12:15 PM
Mountains of Moria>? specifically:
• Baraz, Bundushathűr, Cloudyhead, Shathűr or Silvertine??
drigel
07-23-2004, 12:23 PM
caradhras? fanuidhol? celebol? Kheled-zâram?
shotgun approach, sorry
The Perky Ent
07-23-2004, 02:21 PM
Really, really, really, really close, but no! Think! Tall, cold, where spirits bodies remain.
drigel
07-23-2004, 02:36 PM
ahhh
durins tower or the dimrill stair where the Balrogs body lays?
The Perky Ent
07-23-2004, 03:53 PM
Yes! Zirag-Zigil! It's cold, because it's on a snowcapped mountain at the top of the world (tall) and it's where Gandalf and the Balrog both died! Your go!
drigel
07-24-2004, 08:59 AM
good one! what a sight that would have been, even centuries later :)
ok here tis:
one of three, 2 were here, unbroken
The Perky Ent
07-24-2004, 09:02 AM
I have no clue. I think the one of the three might refer to the elf rings, so....narya?
Morsul the Dark
07-24-2004, 09:15 AM
Most likely wrong but
Gandalf?
one of three isatari that have known locations
2 are here Saruman and Gandalf are present through out the trilogy
and Gandalfs determination was unbroken
The Perky Ent
07-24-2004, 09:17 AM
His determination was never broken? One could argue, but not here.
Morsul the Dark
07-24-2004, 09:19 AM
sorry I couldn't find the word I wanted he was the only isatar to complete his original goal
the blue wizards went bye bye saruman became evil asnd radagast just kind of sat around he kept true to his task
drigel
07-24-2004, 09:21 AM
good points on the Istari but...
nyet :smokin:
i promise not to geek out this time hehe
holler for a clue
The Perky Ent
07-24-2004, 09:21 AM
Radagast did more than just sit. But, of the things he did, it wasn't anything worth remembering except to those who profited from it.
drigel
07-24-2004, 09:23 AM
ya your right
birds and critters profited from his efforts hehe
Morsul the Dark
07-24-2004, 09:23 AM
holler holler clue please?
drigel
07-24-2004, 09:24 AM

The Perky Ent
07-24-2004, 09:24 AM
Bilbo and the rest of the gang did ;)
Morsul the Dark
07-24-2004, 09:27 AM
I think i know is it lothlorien?
One of three elven realms
two elven rings are there(i think)
and it was of coutrse unbroken because no mortasl passed through
The Perky Ent
07-24-2004, 09:28 AM
Gandalf had a ring, Elrond, who lived in Rivendell had one, and Galadriel who lived in Lothlorien had one.
drigel
07-24-2004, 09:28 AM
nope good guess
one of my fav places in ME though if that makes u feel better :smokin:
sigh Galadriel meeee owww :)
Morsul the Dark
07-24-2004, 09:34 AM
well i thought it was elrond who had the second but that guess made me second guess that it was celeborn
is it either the old forest or house of bombadil?
Old forest one of three major woods
(old forest mirkwood fangorn)
the two are bombidil and goldberry
and his house is pure and unbroken
drigel
07-24-2004, 09:36 AM
nope but getting warm geographically speaking
Morsul the Dark
07-24-2004, 09:43 AM
barrow-downs?

barrow downs minas morgul and paths of the dead...
drigel
07-24-2004, 09:48 AM

drigel
07-24-2004, 09:51 AM

Morsul the Dark
07-24-2004, 09:52 AM

drigel
07-24-2004, 10:20 AM

drigel
07-24-2004, 10:22 AM
this may be too obscure sorry
but i bet Aragorn doesnt think so :smokin:
The Perky Ent
07-24-2004, 10:50 AM
Is it Elrostirion (I think that's the spelling) The greatest of the three towers where a palantir lay?
drigel
07-24-2004, 10:58 AM
oh so very close perky
back up a little
The Perky Ent
07-24-2004, 11:02 AM
Is the the palantir itself?
drigel
07-24-2004, 11:06 AM
nope but your almost there
here is as much hints i could think of without going off and saying it
im such a geek lol
1 of 3: arnor
2 were here : palantir
unbroken: aragorn
The Perky Ent
07-24-2004, 11:15 AM
Arthedain?
drigel
07-24-2004, 11:39 AM
ding ding ding
you got it
1 of 3 kindoms of arnor
2 were here - 2 palantirs located in Arthedain
unbroken - where the line of Isildur still perpetuated after Arnor broke up
your go
The Perky Ent
07-24-2004, 09:05 PM
Cool. Ok, here's the new one:
feared, sharp, bright
Easy.
Morsul the Dark
07-24-2004, 09:29 PM
sting?
shines bright when orcs are around
feard by goblins and its sharp
The Perky Ent
07-24-2004, 10:11 PM
told you it was easy :D Your turn!
Morsul the Dark
07-24-2004, 10:16 PM
dragon

The Perky Ent
07-24-2004, 10:16 PM
um...is dragon

Morsul the Dark
07-24-2004, 10:20 PM

The Perky Ent
07-24-2004, 10:27 PM
is that really the hint? So, Dragon, Bilbo, Frodo That's really un-related. Hmm, umm, the Green Dragon?
Morsul the Dark
07-24-2004, 10:28 PM
nay
perhaaps i should change dragon to
dragon scales
bilbo
frodo
The Perky Ent
07-24-2004, 10:30 PM
Mithril!
Morsul the Dark
07-24-2004, 10:33 PM
but of course
The Perky Ent
07-24-2004, 10:45 PM
Here's the next one: Full of nature, burned, fast. Have at it!
Morsul the Dark
07-24-2004, 10:47 PM
the old forest
full of nature of course
burned by the hobbits i n the battle with the trees quick to anger at all that go on two legs
The Perky Ent
07-24-2004, 10:48 PM
sorry, try again :p
Morsul the Dark
07-24-2004, 10:51 PM
fangorn for the same reasons except burned by saruman not hobbits
The Perky Ent
07-24-2004, 10:52 PM
close, but no cigare :smokin:
Morsul the Dark
07-24-2004, 10:55 PM
boy i hope you're not being sarcastic...Quickbeam he was lively I believe he was burned during the attack on isengard and he of course is quick
The Perky Ent
07-25-2004, 12:26 AM
It is, of course, Quickbeam! I yield the thread to you!
Morsul the Dark
07-25-2004, 07:53 AM
well i only got that because i love the ents :D
next is:
ents
melkor
moria
Evisse the Blue
07-25-2004, 08:30 AM
Trolls? made by Melkor in mockery of ents, the Fellowship met them in Moria.
Morsul the Dark
07-25-2004, 08:41 AM
boy and i thought that was tricky well you got it right go ahead
Evisse the Blue
07-25-2004, 02:42 PM
Thanks. Mine will probably be easy.
refuge, lore, rest
Gil-Galad
07-25-2004, 03:21 PM
Rivendell? refuge for eregion, play of the council, travelers rest there
Evisse the Blue
07-25-2004, 03:30 PM
That's the one!
Gil-Galad
07-25-2004, 03:32 PM
yep here i go
dreamer, double, resting of the first to go
another easy one
Morsul the Dark
07-25-2004, 11:06 PM
Gollum?
Smeagal is a dreamer
double personality
Smeagal finally restsd when Gollum leaves at least for a bit
drigel
07-26-2004, 07:21 AM
is it Lorien in Valimar (or Valinor for us mortals :) )?
Gil-Galad
07-26-2004, 11:18 AM
close enough, i was looking for Irmo, but his other name is Lorien so your turn!
drigel
07-26-2004, 12:53 PM
ok well i still got it wrong i was thinking about the place not the person hehe
oh well here tis - i will throw a softball at you. Heres one that keeps on that theme.
Lorien
Queen
Nightingale
Gil-Galad
07-26-2004, 01:06 PM
there is no lorien in Valinor as a place...theres the valar Irmo that is the dreamer...he is also called Lorien
Gil-Galad
07-26-2004, 01:09 PM
i would probaly say Galadriel or Luthien...but mainly Galadriel
drigel
07-26-2004, 01:18 PM
its an easy one but.....
nope :)
you are red hot on it though!
oh yea and Loiren is a place and its also the Vala:
from the encyclopedia of Arda:
Lórien
The gardens of Valinor
The gardens of the Vala Irmo in Valinor, from which he took his more common name, Lórien.
Gil-Galad
07-26-2004, 04:01 PM
Melian?
and yes i know about Irmo and his gardens...
drigel
07-27-2004, 07:20 AM
yup
Gil-Galad
07-27-2004, 09:50 AM
right here i go...
Thought to be the strongest, i am the last to leave, last to arrive, i challenge and all fear me, Who Am I?
The Perky Ent
07-27-2004, 10:04 AM
Gandalf?
ohtatyaro
07-27-2004, 10:06 AM
Tulkas?
Gil-Galad
07-27-2004, 10:52 AM
It is Tulkas! explanation will also be needed
The Perky Ent
07-27-2004, 10:21 PM
Tulkas, he fought Melkor, proving his strength. Plus, he was warlike, also provoing his strength. Then, he was the last of the Valar to come into Arda. Probably not enough, but worth a shot!
ohtatyaro
07-27-2004, 11:24 PM
so which of us gets the right to continue?
Gil-Galad
07-28-2004, 09:57 AM
i'ma give it to perky, he got the explanation first...
The Perky Ent
07-28-2004, 10:00 AM
Ok, thanks! Here's the next one:
Broken, Fixed, Connected
Gil-Galad
07-28-2004, 10:02 AM
Aragorn or Narsil/Anduril
The Perky Ent
07-28-2004, 10:03 AM
nope or no/no :D
Gil-Galad
07-28-2004, 10:04 AM
hint maybe?
The Perky Ent
07-28-2004, 10:10 AM
After 1 hint? Your gonna have to guess more to get a hint!
Morsul the Dark
07-28-2004, 10:26 AM
The fellowship Broken but Aragorn says it is not broken as long as they stay true so it is fixed and after the ring is destroyed they are reconnected
The Perky Ent
07-28-2004, 10:28 AM
Good try, but still no!
Morsul the Dark
07-28-2004, 10:32 AM
Sauron broken when he lost the ring fixed he regained strenght connected to the ring for lifeforce
The Perky Ent
07-28-2004, 10:33 AM
That is a good guess, but unfortunatly not the one I'm looking for!
Morsul the Dark
07-28-2004, 10:39 AM
Isengard broken by the ents fixed by the ents into a garden and they broke the damn so it was conncted to the river Isen
Gil-Galad
07-28-2004, 10:40 AM
you try to hard Morsul
The Perky Ent
07-28-2004, 10:40 AM
no
Morsul the Dark
07-28-2004, 10:44 AM
I try too hard? Well you dont try enough asking for hint after one answer ;)
hey ent can we have a hint?
Gil-Galad
07-28-2004, 10:47 AM
strange i keep thinking of Arnor and Gondor...
The Perky Ent
07-28-2004, 11:32 AM
Gil-Galad got it! It was Arnor. Broken into three: Arthedain, Cardolan, Rhudar. When Aragorn founded the Reunited Kingdom, he brought them back together. And, they're connect to Gondor thanks to Elessar. Your go Gil-Galad!
Gil-Galad
07-30-2004, 11:28 PM
lol i got it in my second question!!! beats your 7 something guesses...
Land of the singers Green first, land of the comers and stayers second and third, place of departure for any that remain...
Morsul the Dark
07-31-2004, 09:09 AM
it's Middle Earth i think
Elves wre first and all was green
then men came the ones to stay in ME and inherit it
then it is where the last elves depart from
And perhaps you did get it on your second try but I think it was because you let me weed out the bad answers ;) But I like attempting these things and my knowledge is limited so sometimes I have to stretch to make an aswer fit
Gil-Galad
07-31-2004, 10:20 AM
nope!
i go easy on beginners anyway...
Bombadil
07-31-2004, 01:04 PM
The Gray havens? Land of Green singers- Ossiriand? Not sure if that turned into havens, but I'll take a shot at it.
Gil-Galad
07-31-2004, 01:18 PM
close, but no
Morsul the Dark
08-01-2004, 12:26 AM
Valinor?
The elves were originally here before going to ME
during the second and third age they began returning to it
and place of departure all the elves and their guests bilbo frodo so on departed for this place
Gil-Galad
08-01-2004, 10:02 AM
nope!
The Perky Ent
08-01-2004, 11:56 AM
Lindon?
Gil-Galad
08-01-2004, 02:35 PM
you know the drill Perky...reasons if you don't
The Perky Ent
08-01-2004, 06:05 PM
Right, well let's take a wack at it then! Right, the first part Land of the singers Green first Right, well I think that refers to elves, because Elves live there.
Next part land of the comers and stayers second and third
Right, well Elves went between Numenor, Valinor, and Lindon during second age and the third
The last bit place of departure for any that remain...
Means that Lindon is the place to leave middle earth for any that remain (except for Legolas and Gimli, who went down the Anduin)
Does that help?
Gil-Galad
08-01-2004, 06:45 PM
good enough your go...that Comers and Stayers part was for the Noldor that remained in ME after Beleriand fell and for the Teleri/Sindar that dwelled with them
The Perky Ent
08-01-2004, 09:45 PM
Alrighty then! The next one is...
perilous, divider, resorted
Morsul the Dark
08-01-2004, 10:19 PM
is that supposed to say restored?
Gil-Galad
08-02-2004, 10:18 AM
Feanor?
perilous-he went to great lengths aginest Melkor
divider-well he did take half of the Noldor across the sea, and divided again aginest Fingolfin
resorted-since the Teleri refused to give him there ships, he took it from them
The Perky Ent
08-02-2004, 11:21 AM
No Morsul, it is suppost to say resorted! Anyways, Gil-Galad you're close, but wrong...but close.
Evisse the Blue
08-02-2004, 11:49 AM
Melkor?
Gil-Galad
08-02-2004, 11:52 AM
Resorted means to do something when all other options are out of the question like Feanor for example, he resorted to taking the boats by force because he beleived there was no other way
The Perky Ent
08-02-2004, 11:53 AM
What does resorted mean? It isn't a word? That's weird, I thought it was. Anyways, resotred means it was something someone had to resort to. Anyways, no, Morgoth isn't the answer. You were closer with Feanor.
Gil-Galad
08-02-2004, 11:55 AM
nice perky...but let Evisse choose which definiton is better
The Perky Ent
08-02-2004, 11:58 AM
oh ho! A little contest now! Well, you'll probably win, I wasn't putting that much effort in it.
Evisse the Blue
08-02-2004, 02:26 PM
Thanks, Gil-Galad, yours is better, to be fair. :D
Is it Eöl? (perilous - well, he was the dark elf; divider - separated Aredhel from her kin; resorted to murder when he was not allowed to leave Gondolin)
The Perky Ent
08-02-2004, 05:26 PM
Nope. Feanor was closer.
Gil-Galad
08-02-2004, 05:47 PM
Maedhros? or maybe another one of the SoF
The Perky Ent
08-02-2004, 06:36 PM
Once again, closer with Feanor. Think, even if it doesn't make sense. What's someone or something related to Feanor
Gil-Galad
08-02-2004, 06:41 PM
Finwe?
The Perky Ent
08-02-2004, 06:47 PM
Close! A little lower1
Gil-Galad
08-03-2004, 11:12 AM
FIngolfin? Finarfin?
The Perky Ent
08-03-2004, 04:43 PM
Yes, Fingolfin is the hint. Now compare the life and times fo Fingolfin and the original question!
Gil-Galad
08-03-2004, 05:09 PM
perilous-He charged againest Melkor alone
divider-he spilt the Noldorin house with his feud with Feanor
resorted-he had to follow Feanor so he can patch things up with his half-brother
The Perky Ent
08-03-2004, 05:27 PM
No, it isn't Fingolfin. It isn't even a person. The hint was Fingolfin. Think about Fingolfin, and think about something perilous, that's a divider, and was resorted!
Gil-Galad
08-03-2004, 05:30 PM
Pass of Helcarxe? it was perlious to cross, it divided the Noldorians and was the last resort for Fingolfin to get to Beleriand
The Perky Ent
08-03-2004, 05:32 PM
Yes! Finally! your go!
Gil-Galad
08-03-2004, 05:37 PM
you seem upset with me...
The Perky Ent
08-03-2004, 05:42 PM
Sorry. I've just been waiting a long time to get that over with. I didn't mean it like that.
Gil-Galad
08-03-2004, 06:21 PM
one of the chosen, chooser he was as well, then himself and his chosen one followed the high one bu did not follow him completely

He chose Bilbo
They follwed the king of the dwarfs Thurin Oakenshield but they seperated Bilbo to Gollum Gandalf to wherever he went
Gil-Galad
08-07-2004, 12:17 PM
Close but your Wrong
Morsul the Dark
08-07-2004, 12:21 PM
then I shall go with my second guess Saruman
One of the chosen Maia
Chose Wormtounge
Followed Sauron but for his own benefit so it was not complete
Gil-Galad
08-07-2004, 12:23 PM
