Why does strider look better with a beard?

Ok, I have a weakness for that hunk, so I had to respond in this topic..
I have no idea why he looks better with one. Not exactly a beard though, but just a rugged look, a little stubble. I asked so many people I know (when I showed them my Strider bookmark) and I asked them how old do you think this guy is, and most of them said from about 23-29. He should consider growing his hair long again and getting a little bit of beard then...
