Carlas

Another time is when Legolas says Le abdollen (sp?) which means Your late in elvish, to Aragorn at Helm's Deep.

Arestevana
02-23-2004, 03:52 PM
Excellent! Correct, both of you. Goldberry, you may continue, as yours was the first answer.

Goldberry
02-23-2004, 05:23 PM
Thanks!:)

Ok, new quote:
There is courage still...

Carlas
02-23-2004, 05:42 PM
There is courage still…strength perhaps to challenge him.

Gandalf to Theoden about Minas Tirith being attacked by Sauron.

The Perky Ent
02-23-2004, 07:50 PM
Carlas is probably right, but I think it came from when Gandalf talks about Sauron fearing Aragorn and that there is courage in men.

Carlas
02-23-2004, 09:43 PM
Yes, but it is all in the same speech! :p

Goldberry
02-24-2004, 02:07 PM
Yup, it's in the same speech, so you're both right. Go ahead, Carlas.:smokin:

Carlas
02-24-2004, 04:09 PM
Here's the next quote:
A long time ago.

Arvedui III
02-24-2004, 06:18 PM
A long time ago

In a galaxy far, far away.... :D

Opps, wrong movies. Is it possibly Galadriel in the prolog?

Carlas
02-25-2004, 11:48 AM
Nice try Arvedui, but thats not it! :p

PS- Pm me sometime, we haven't talked in awhile!:smokin:

The Perky Ent
02-25-2004, 01:06 PM
Complete guess: Frodo talking about Gollum?

Carlas
02-25-2004, 02:29 PM
Yes, but can you be a bit more specific?

Thorongil
02-26-2004, 01:58 AM
Didn't he say something like Gollum was similar to a hobbit
A long time ago
?

paavo
02-26-2004, 07:27 AM
Didn't Elrond say to Gandalf something like
He turned from that path a long time ago
Referring to Aragorn and his kingship of course.

Carlas
02-26-2004, 09:03 PM
Oh dear, well I forgot about that one paavo, but that's not the one I was thinking of.

The entire quote was:That was your name once, wasn’t it? A long time ago. So, you pretty much got it right Thorongil, go ahead!

Thorongil
02-27-2004, 02:04 AM
Yay.

It's Frodo Baggins

Vuelve
02-27-2004, 09:11 PM
Pippin to Merry in Farmer Maggot's corn field.

(when I first read it I instantly thought "It's Baggins, Frodo Baggins" I know I'm crazy)

Peace,
Vuelve

Thorongil
02-28-2004, 03:52 AM
Correct. You're up.

Vuelve
02-29-2004, 08:41 PM
Sorry for the delay, I've been at a livestock show all weekend.Ok, so here it is:"You've already had it."

Vuelve

Mithisilien

Peace,
Vuelve

Mithisilien
03-01-2004, 03:18 PM
Woohoo! :D

Through fire and water

Phervasaion
03-01-2004, 03:35 PM
Would that be Gandalf to Wormtongue when he was trying to free Theoden.

Carlas
03-01-2004, 05:26 PM
Gandalf telling Aragorn about what happened after falling from the bridge.

Mithisilien
03-01-2004, 09:18 PM
Carlas has it! Gandalf was talking about fighting the Balrog in TTT. Good job, your turn!

Carlas
03-02-2004, 03:03 PM
...one last time. Who said it to who, and what's the rest of the quote? Do you know? ;)

The Perky Ent
03-02-2004, 05:21 PM
Well, there's theoden from TTT saying: "The horn of Helm Hammerhand shall sound in the deep, one last time". Also, I believe that Bilbo says to Frodo in Rivendel when he sees the ring: "I should like to hold it...one last time.

EDIT: THIS IS MY 301TH POST! I FEEL SO SPECIAL!!!![QUOTE]

Carlas
03-02-2004, 05:23 PM
The second one is correct! Your turn!

The Perky Ent
03-02-2004, 05:35 PM
Um...ok...well...um...(this is starting to sound like my signature!) oh! I've got one! ...I thought he was

Have fun!

NOW THIS IS MY 302nd POST

Carlas
03-02-2004, 08:21 PM
I can't quite remember when, but isn't it Frodo talking to Gandalf?

Perky Ent- Check the Actor's Quotes (part IIII) topic, it is your turn to post a quote. :)

Arvedui III
03-03-2004, 06:22 PM
Nah, that's Grima to Saruman about the man who traveled with Gandalf.

"A Dunedain ranger I thought he was. His cloth was poor, and yet he bore a strange ring."

The Perky Ent
03-04-2004, 05:16 PM
yep! it was Worntoung...wormtoung...wormtongue. Whatever! So i can't spell! The point is...your go!

Arvedui III
03-04-2004, 06:44 PM
Yeah, me neither. Thank the powers for spell check. Alrighty, new quote:
There is courage

Mithisilien
03-04-2004, 06:49 PM
Gandalf to Elrond in Rivendell?

Carlas
03-04-2004, 08:29 PM
Isn't it Gandalf talking to Theoden and others about how men still have the courage to challenge Sauron. I can't remember the exact quote...

Elentarimir
03-05-2004, 07:19 AM
I'd say it's Boromir talking to Aragorn. "There is courage still, and honor to found among Men."

(If I guessed right, someone else should take my turn, as I'm going on vacation soon.)

paavo
03-05-2004, 11:16 AM
didn't Gandalf also say to aragorn something like "he (Sauron) is afraid. the heir of Elendil has come forth and he has seen that men are not so weak as he thought. there is gourage among them, strenght even..."
I think it was in the EE version of the two towers.

ps as you can see I can't spell either :D

Arvedui III
03-05-2004, 04:43 PM
Yes indeed. Paavo has it (bad spellers of the world unite!) :D. That was Gandalf to Theoden in ROTK. "There is courage still, perhaps strength enough to challange him." Your go.

paavo
03-06-2004, 05:23 AM
So was the right answer Gandalf to theoden in ROTK? because if it was then shouldn't Carlas get the next quote? since I said that it was Gandalf to Aragorn. :)

Arvedui III
03-06-2004, 10:55 AM
Ack, sorry Carlas and Paavo. I saw the right quote and then Gandalf...ah well, such thing happen when you assume I guess. Your go, Carlas.

Carlas
03-06-2004, 11:40 AM
Where are they? Can you figure it out?;)

paavo
03-06-2004, 01:46 PM
is it Gimli in the beginning of ROTK, asking where the hobbits are?

Arvedui III
03-06-2004, 10:15 PM
No, I think it's Pippin at the Black Gates, wondering after the orc army.

The Perky Ent
03-07-2004, 09:12 AM
Aragorn wondering about where the dead men of dunharrow are?

Carlas
03-08-2004, 05:05 PM
You got it right Arvedui III, your turn!

Arvedui III
03-08-2004, 06:34 PM
Thanks. Herm...new quote.
They need our help.

The Perky Ent
03-08-2004, 06:38 PM
Would that be Merry to Treebeard asking for the Ents to fight? Isn't the full quote:Are friends are out there dying! They need our help! ?

Mithisilien
03-11-2004, 07:14 PM
*bump*

Arvedui III
03-13-2004, 09:30 AM
Ack! Sorry, Perky Ent, you have it. Continue on.

The Perky Ent
03-13-2004, 10:22 AM
after the house

paavo
03-13-2004, 10:42 AM
Is it Bilbo about the sackville-bagginses?
They're after the house

The Perky Ent
03-13-2004, 06:33 PM
sure is!

paavo
03-14-2004, 05:52 AM
ok. new quote.
...back to normal, that's all.

Phervasaion
03-14-2004, 05:56 AM
Is that Sam to Frodo at Rivendell in FotR?

paavo
03-14-2004, 07:41 AM
sorry, no.

The Perky Ent
03-14-2004, 01:19 PM
Would it be Merry in the Floatsam Jetsam seen in TTT EE talking about how the ent draft has worn off of pippin? Isn't it something likePippin: What are you doing?
Merry: Nothing, the world's back to normal. That's all
Pippin: No it's not, i'm starving! :D That always makes me laugh!

paavo
03-14-2004, 01:55 PM
that is the one! :)

The Perky Ent
03-14-2004, 09:54 PM
Yay! I love getting them right! Well now, the quote will be...Look Mr. Frodo

Now who would say that?

Evisse the Blue
03-15-2004, 07:03 AM
Sam (of course) in ROTK as he's carrying him up Mt Doom? Look Mr Frodo, a gate? or a path? can't seem to remember exactly what.

Kitanna
04-08-2004, 05:55 AM
Sam in TTT "Look Mr. Frodo, an oliphant."

paavo
04-08-2004, 11:46 AM

The Perky Ent
04-13-2004, 10:28 PM
and Paavo has it!

paavo
04-19-2004, 04:07 AM

Fingolfin II
05-24-2004, 12:59 AM
And the next quote is....

Mad Baggins
05-24-2004, 11:06 AM

Fingolfin II
05-29-2004, 04:28 AM
Nope....but you're on the right track in that it's in TTT. Think Extended Edition.

Thorongil
05-29-2004, 04:30 AM
Could it be Faramir questioning Gollum on their route in Osgilliath?

Fingolfin II

Sorry, nope.

paavo
05-31-2004, 01:25 AM

Fingolfin II
05-31-2004, 01:26 AM
Nope. Want another hint?

Son of Númenor
05-31-2004, 06:53 AM
Is it Eowyn to Grima?

If not, that hint might come in handy. :p

Morsul the Dark
05-31-2004, 07:24 AM

06-06-2004, 11:01 AM
Yes it is...your go! :D

Morsul the Dark
06-06-2004, 06:03 PM
heres a super easy one
"reason for madness"

Fingolfin II
06-07-2004, 01:35 AM
Gandalf to Saruman in Orthanc-

'Tell me, friend- since when did Saruman the Wise abandon reason for madness?'

Morsul the Dark
06-07-2004, 12:24 PM
but of course

Fingolfin II
06-08-2004, 05:50 AM
Here's a simple one-

It is folly.

paavo
06-08-2004, 10:54 AM
Boromir in the council of Elrond about going to Mordor. "Not with 10,000 men
could you do this. It is folly."

Yep!

Morsul the Dark
06-10-2004, 03:06 PM
Thats not good, thats right however that wasnt the quote i was referring to i didnt relize it occured twice i was referring to the gatekeeper in /Bree however you may go because you are correct

Kitanna
06-10-2004, 03:11 PM
Not to be insulting, but you shouldn't have given the answer, should have just said I was wrong and let someone else figure it out. Oh well, it doesn't really matter.

"Do we let them stand alone?"

Morsul the Dark
06-10-2004, 03:15 PM
Galadriel to Elrond when shes saying how Frodo knows the quest will claim his life... and I think you deserved to go because A) that is a correct answer and B) you proved me wrong.

Kitanna
06-10-2004, 03:20 PM
Yup, twas Galadriel and at least you're a good sport about that whole quote mix up

Morsul the Dark
06-10-2004, 03:26 PM
One must admit when theyre wrong
Alright must think of one that does not occur more than once hehe

"Dont disturb"

Fingolfin II
06-11-2004, 03:35 AM
Is it Aragorn to Merry after he throws a stone in the pool by the entrance to Moria?

Morsul the Dark
06-11-2004, 10:25 AM

Fingolfin II
06-11-2004, 07:23 PM
This may prove to be tricky.....

It's you

Evisse the Blue
06-12-2004, 01:18 AM
Well, it could be Frodo to Sam in ROTK, before he tells him to go home.

Fingolfin II
06-12-2004, 02:37 AM
It could be and is!

well, I think it's time to bring this thread back to life! but since I'm such a nice person ;) I won't post a new quote but instead only going to remind Evisse about this thread: Evisse, your turn. :)

Thanks, paavo, I appreciate it! :D
New quote:
"Are you going to leave me?"

wilwarin538
07-21-2004, 02:13 PM
Could that be Sam to Frodo at the end of FotR?

Evisse the Blue
07-21-2004, 02:26 PM
Nope, it isn't.

Morsul the Dark
07-21-2004, 02:28 PM
its boromir to aragorn when he's dieing right? i seem to think he says that...

Evisse the Blue
07-21-2004, 02:39 PM
No. It's from ROTK.

paavo
07-21-2004, 02:46 PM
somehow it sounds like Eowyn... maybe to Aragorn when he is leaving for the paths of the dead.

Evisse the Blue
07-21-2004, 02:49 PM
Not that either. Additional hint: It's a hobbit.

Kitanna

I KNOW Merry to Pippin after the battle of Pellanor (sp? totally wrong, but too bad!) Fields and Merry goes "Are you going to leave me?"
and little Pippin is like "No, I'm going to take care of you!" It makes me cry!

Evisse the Blue
07-22-2004, 04:04 AM
That's the one!

Kitanna

"...in the void"

NZ Ringbearer
07-22-2004, 06:44 PM
Its Sauron, in the 1st movie...

When Frodo puts on the Ring in the Prancing Pony, and he sees the EYE....

Kitanna
07-22-2004, 07:10 PM
That would be it.

NZ Ringbearer

My turn!!

"...you begin to understand..."

Have fun!

Morsul the Dark
07-24-2004, 09:34 PM
sam to frodo

in his speach about important tales

and you begin to understand the heroes in that tale...

Lindir
07-25-2004, 11:18 AM
Is it after Frodo destroys the ring, and he's back at Bag End and says something like: :
..you try to pick up the threads of an old life, and then you begin to understand...."

i think..... :p

NZ Ringbearer
07-26-2004, 02:19 AM
Ohhhh...I forgot Sam says that in TTT...however, I was meaning it as part of Frodo's speech/musing at the end of RotK.

So, Lindir, it's your turn! *Bows to Lindir*

Morsul the Dark
07-26-2004, 02:22 AM
Dont worry I did the same thing earlier in the game I used the quote what business I meant the guard of bree but eomer also says it... but at any rate lindir I yield to you

Morsul the Dark
08-14-2004, 10:02 PM

Is it Pippin in TTT when Treebeared announces that the Entmoot has decided that they are not orcs?...."Well, that's good news."

Morsul the Dark
08-15-2004, 06:22 PM
indeed go ahead

Rinfanawen
08-16-2004, 06:27 PM
Alright, here's the next one:

Just let it go!

There you go!

Morsul the Dark
08-16-2004, 06:44 PM
gandalf to bilbo
in fotr right before he leaves bag end
"trust me as you once did, let it go"

Rinfanawen
08-16-2004, 06:57 PM
No, sorry, Morsul. I was afraid that someone would guess that...well, afraid and hoping all the same. Try again! ;)

Morsul the Dark
08-16-2004, 06:59 PM
Sam to Frodo in the crack of doom?

Rinfanawen
08-16-2004, 07:04 PM
There you go! I knew it wouldn't be that hard, but oh well. It's hard seeing most people here have all the movies memorized. Your go, Morsul!

Morsul the Dark
08-16-2004, 07:07 PM
"...am I."

perhaps a bit difficult but the punctuation should give it away

Rinfanawen
08-17-2004, 05:23 PM
I'm working on it, but it's a bit more difficult than you would think.

Edit: Are you sure that's in the movies? I literally did a search on it. I looked through all 5 movie scripts, and I could only find 2 "am I"s, which I believe were in FOTR, and neither of them had that punctuation. I don't think you could have put that punctuation in either. Hmm...a hint maybe?

Morsul the Dark
08-17-2004, 09:54 PM
well it comes at end of an extremely short sentence it is not a question and ok it could be an explanation point buts its said like a period....it is in FOTR

and it is repeated immediately after

Rinfanawen
08-18-2004, 12:41 PM
Well, one of the two "am I"s that I found was "

Gandalf: <as Frodo jumps off the cart> So am I, dear boy! So am I.

So is it Gandalf at that moment?

BTW: I love your new avatar

Morsul the Dark
08-18-2004, 12:46 PM
ding ding ding ding! Correct. :D

Rinfanawen
08-18-2004, 12:49 PM
Yes! Ha ha...anyway, here's the next quote:

Come on!

Now this one's a little tough, so good luck!

Morsul the Dark
08-18-2004, 12:53 PM
Sam to Frodo on Buckleberry Ferry

Rinfanawen
08-18-2004, 02:15 PM
Sorry, no. Try again.

Oh, and also sorry for asking for a hint so soon before. I was just so lost! Next time I'll just try what I think might be remotely right and see what happens. :D

Morsul the Dark
08-18-2004, 02:19 PM
thats what i do...thats why i have so many wrong answers i try what sounds right :D

hmm....Sam to Frodo on Mt. Doom before he starts carrying him up hes like "come on Mr. Frodo I cant carry it for you but I can carry you!"

and since you were reading the script Im sure you noticed Come on occurs like every other line ;) I waas looking at the stand off thing then decided to look for come on while i was there wow like 20 times in the first movie alone its going to be a long game

Rinfanawen
08-18-2004, 02:25 PM
Sorry. Not it either. :(

Hmm...well, I would put more of the line in, but that's the whole line, so...I don't know what to do about that. Long game it is!

Morsul the Dark
08-18-2004, 02:33 PM
no problem
Frodo to the others before they cross the road to Bree

Rinfanawen
08-18-2004, 07:43 PM
nope...guess again.

Morsul the Dark
08-18-2004, 07:46 PM
Bilbo to Gandalf

Come on! Come in, welcome welcome

Rinfanawen
08-18-2004, 08:07 PM
Not it either. :p Ya know, this is kinda difficult seeing it is a general "movie quotes" thread. You don't know what movie it's from.

EDIT: BTW, I am now a haunting spirit!!! :D

Morsul the Dark
08-18-2004, 08:10 PM
congradulatopns
are you trying to tell me its not in FOTR

its the Orc captain telling the other orcs to hurry up when they stop and complain about maggoty bread

Rinfanawen
08-18-2004, 08:14 PM
YES...to the first question. Sadly, no to the second. Keep guessing!

Morsul the Dark
08-18-2004, 08:25 PM
wwhat about come on hobbitses! come on! Gollum to Frodo and Sam in the beginning of ROTK

Rinfanawen
08-19-2004, 12:31 PM
Sorry, no again. And another avatar? Whoa, I think you have set a record, my friend.

EDIT: BTW, I will be gone until Monday, so if you make any guesses, you will have to wait for me to reply until then. Sorry, and good luck! Oh, and just for your convenience, you can find every script for LOTR here (http://www.stupidring.com/). Happy searching! :D

Rinfanawen
08-23-2004, 12:52 PM
Okay, I'm back, and while I was gone I did some thinking...I wanted to find a really hard quote, and I guess I found one, but the quote I have used is a little too hard. So, to get this game moving, I am going to give a really big hint.

This quote was said in the 3rd movie by a character that has a name, but most people don't know what it is. This is his only line in the trilogy, and this is the only movie he appears in. He speaks at a time when a powerful being tries to comfort one so small.

Well, there's your hint, and I hope that all of this will able you to get the right answer, and then move the game along as it should go. Think about the quote, and the hint, and maybe you'll get it.

I really don't have any idea but maybe someone when Gandalf tells to Pippin about "afterlife".

Morsul the Dark
08-23-2004, 01:39 PM
that dude on the corsairs ship? the captain guy...

Rinfanawen
08-23-2004, 01:40 PM
Right two people, paavo, but wrong conversation. Try looking at an earlier conversation between the two. 'Tis there that you will find the speaker.

EDIT: My apologies, Morsul, we seemed to have posted at the same time. You're right. It was that Corsair. Pete the Pirate is his name...or so I read. Your turn...finally. :D

Kitanna

Morsul, art thou there? Tis your turn I believe.
