Thorin to Bombur while talking about crossing the Black River in Mirkwood.

Bombur: "I'm always last and I don't like it," said Bombur. "It's somebody
else's turn today."

Thorin: "You should not be so fat. As you are, you must be with the last and
lightest boatload. Don't start grumbling against orders, or something
bad will happen to you."

Folwren

Okay, so sorry that it's taken so long for me to get back. Couldn't lay my hands on a copy of the book to get the quote just right. But here it is!

It would not do to send up poor stuff!

Arwen Imladris

"Very good," laughed the chief of the guards. "I'll taste with you, and see if it is fit for the king's table. There is a feast tonight and it would not do to send up poor stuff!"

The Chief of the guards to the king's butler in the wine cellar.

I have decided to annoy you with a hard quote ^_^

Idle Questions

If anyone can answer this without any hints you'll definately earn my respect (which everyone already has, so yea...>_<). :)

luthien-elvenprincess
11-11-2005, 07:48 AM
This one wasn't so hard, Sleepy!

Said by Thorin to Bard. "Did you come to ask me idle questions?

Sleepy Ranger
11-11-2005, 08:21 AM
Indeed, all yours.
Seems I under-estimated evertone V_V

I haven't played in a looong time and only looked back 3 pages, so sorry if it is a repeat.....

"I am ashamed of you..."

Who said it, to whom and what was the circumstance.

Sleepy Ranger

Gandalf to Bilbo when Bilbo asked if he could back out from the quest.

Since no one had posted on this thread for over a month I hope it will be all right to post a question.

Who quoted who by saying "Third time pays for all."

This is the first time I've played in any of the quizzes so I hope I didn't make it too easy for anyone.

Gandalf to the Eagle Lord.

On the circumstance that is correct,

"Go sideways!? Impossible!"

Actually Elu, that's not the quote I was looking for. The quote I'm thinking of comes from the chapter Not at Home. I think the quote that you have is from LOTR not The Hobbit.

Kath
01-27-2006, 06:45 PM
Ok, well do I take it or do you want to Alchisiel?

Firefoot
01-27-2006, 07:09 PM
Alchisiel's quote is Bilbo quoting his father to the Dwarves. Provided that that's correct (and I would suppose it is, unless that quote is used twice in that chapter...), Kath, you can go ahead.

Generally it's best to wait until people affirm that you're correct before taking over the thread to prevent tangles like these. :)

Kath

Rightyho, cheers Firefoot!

Next:
"Go on, call away!"

Grrr!!! I know this!! But I can't find it!! Hmmm....

Smaug to Bilbo perhaps?

Taralphiel

I've been eyeing this quote game as I'm currently re-reading The Hobbit, and I just found this part!

' "Come, one of you, get another light or two!" Thorin ordered. "It seems we have got to go and help our burglar"'

Yep! Exactly right!

This thread has been quiet for a while, so would you like to continue Dimturiel? I hope that's okay!! :p

Tara :)

Dimturiel
05-04-2006, 11:23 AM
Well, I think I really should continue. Here it is:
I can get away

Eonwe
05-15-2006, 07:02 PM
Let's see. I believe this is what you are looking for. :)

"I am Mr Bilbo Baggins. I have lost the dwarves and I have lost the wizard, and I don't know where I am; and I don't wnat to know, if only I can get away."

Dimturiel
05-18-2006, 01:58 AM
That's exactly what I'm looking for. :)

Maikadurwen

Seeing as how it’s been well over ten days, its time for a new quote.

"Yes, it is rare and wonderful, indeed."

Sleepy Ranger
08-20-2006, 04:38 AM
Smaug to Bilbo when Bilbo commented on his 'waistcoat of fine diamonds'.
