Where are they? It seems like a waste of time to register and then not post anything at all.
What's a burrahobbit got to do with my pocket, anyways?</p>

Ok, fine, I'll post...
You burrahobbits is stinky little things... Perhaps it's those feets...
Uh-oh... Where did my sandwich go? Heeeeeere sandwich sandwich sandwich...
There. I've posted. And, no, I don't want to have anything to do with your pockets. Unless of course you've got a sandwich in there.

Re: There are 18 registered users?
Well, I never did find my sandwich, or any sandwich for that matter, but I did find the time to create an icon. So I'm just making a test post to see if it works. Look! My noodles are done!

Being in the mood to sit in the attic and swallow some dust, I've just found this - the oldest thread in this forum.
How do you feel now, when there are 18+ (and = by far at that)? And the whole bunch of people is now just as it was then - registered but not posting. Though attitude may be a bit changed - "thanks god they all are not posting at the same time" smilies/wink.gif

Ooooh. A piece of ancient history.
...and that's where it all started, folks. smilies/cool.gif

Far from the oldest, but it had been the longest since anyone posted to it. Sometimes I wish there were 18 again. Ooos and nonsense do nothing but make you look bad, especially on old threads. KenobiwanX is stupid, you don't want to be like him.

Sorry to mistake you, it's from the May 30, (and board started sometime in the first decade, correct me burra if I err) just it was on the bottom of the first page, the oldest "last reply" thread in the forum for sure.
Kenobiwanx haven't appeared since, i deem - sensed he was conforming not to well with Tolkien discussion smilies/smile.gif
Sorry, burra, if you were not pleased with this brought up, the title sounded so fascinating I could not stand up to temptation

I know KenobianX, he only posted because I was badgering him about it. When I read what he posted I gave him a stern talking to. He posted like that to annoy me.
Now that I read the thread again I see that I mistook something myself, but that's ok.
I'm really not as bitter as I make myself out to be.

Scary thought - we've gone from 18 members to 4714 members. Now, how many are fangirls?

Let's not give fangirls a bad rap. After all, we have had just as much trouble fromthe "oldies but goodies" since the influx, and if people would stop making the so-called gap such an issue, it would not be such an issue.

Very smart. I didn't mean to offend - just the incredible "population explosion", if you will, since the movies came out sort of leads us to that question.

Dare I mention that a certain Mod in question is, indeed in comparison, a relative newbie him/herself? One would hope that the meteoric rise of individuals such as these would provide a link between the "groups," rather than fueling polemics.

I have no problem with new people. None at all - I like them! It's fun to hear new opinions. Don't take what I said that way.
And trust me, many people have been only too quick to inform me what a newbie I am.

I almost feel old. Since I am among the first 1000 people, it feels like I've been around for a while. I even knew who Tolkien was when this thread was first started! smilies/eek.gif Wow! Hhhmmm.. Are there allready over 4000 members? I think I must have missed it.. *sighs deeply* I feel old, I feel old.. and I am still a teenager! :Þ

ooh! Pardon me burrahobbit, but that does sound rather bitter...
I must confess, when I joined up, I was more than slightly obsessed with the movies and with certain actors in it, although I dont discuss in the movies section really at all(RPGings my style). However I had a good deal of tolkien lore as well. Fan girls do boost the numbers though considerably- if you were to take a survey, I reckon there'd be way more females than males on this site. Even though alot of the much older members are male, like the barrow wight, Sharku and Mithadan. Yourself excluded there, Kate. smilies/biggrin.gif

I am proud to say that, although I was obviously not a member then, I was a big Tolkien fan back when this was posted! I have been a Tolkien fan since 1995, actually...and, being one of the fairly new members, I can honestly say that, while some pretend there is such, there is certainly not a big gap *clears her throat at a few nameless, condescending users*. The biggest gap is in our ages, as I am 15.
To reiterate: and we claim not to post random things smilies/wink.gif !
